I'm an old friend of Joe and Rich Roberts who lived on Via Olindo. I used to hang around in the small shopping center and a friend of ours washed dishes at Mr. B's, I think it was called. The first time I ever tasted Monterey Jack was when Tom Mingus gave me some one evening. He had a friend named Ed who at seventeen smoked a pipe and said he was going to be lawyer and we had another friend named Mike who was hit by a milk or bread truck in SF one morning years later. He was crossing the street.
Mike Cochran was our friends name. Not sure of the spelling but he was so bright and later got into trouble after takng LSD and that is why he was hit by that bread or milk truck in SF in the 80s. He was so bright and full of life! Nick Campbell....listen to "Plastic Soldiers," here at UA-cam by Joe Roberts.
I went to school with Tom Mingus, Ed Kandler, and Mike Corcoran. All great guys and great friends -- same intellectual and silly minds. So sad to hear of Mike's cause of death. The drugs were heavy for many of us.
You can view more vintage (and new) photos of San Lorenzo on FacedBook. Just do a search for San Lorenzo, I remember when . . .
Nice Toni. Ah memories.

Never been in the West 40, but love country. There was a bowling alley under the old Mervyn's. Think if we did some excavation we could unearth it?
