I remember this playing every night and morning at a cadet camp in Ontario. This made me feel proud whenever they played it over the speakers.. Can't wait to join the army
Before you Join up, if you haven't already, you should listen to these Bugle Calls played in Minor, or play them yourself on the Piano. Then Watch "All Quite on the Western Front" and play the Major during the Build Up and the Minor when things Go Ary as they Ineveitably do. These Bugle Calls are very Powerful Medicine as any of your Native Ontarians can tell you. You'll be a better Soldier when your 40 rather than 18, and all the Wars Man has fought testify to that. Read some Kipling if you want to know what Soldiering is really About. Don't be hypnotized by all the Glitter and Machismo that Hollywood Pours out.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place: and in the sky The larks still bravely singing fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the dead: Short days ago, We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved: and now we lie In Flanders fields! Take up our quarrel with the foe To you, from failing hands, we throw The torch: be yours to hold it high If ye break faith with us who die, We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields
How dare our government now hand our country over to foreign invaders and put them in hotels while our own citizens live on the streets and the poor and old cant afford heat and food. How dare they let the sacrifices be for nothing.
A lil story round this song I sat down, laying my hat on the bench, it you could call it that. I finally sat down turning to my comrades, “Is it over?” I said. They replied, “You can rest now.” From that day since September of 1914 I fought on the trenches one and one, lucky I even made it to this point. I smiled finally, a few million years after the universe was created, it felt like it. I saw my comrades, the ones who died on the Verdun, Ypres or the Somme. I was so happy. They had trumpets as shiny as the sun’s first light, they played this song, poppies emerged from the ground and finally I felt at peace. Finally my running mind, where I sat in the hospital after that battle could rest. If you don’t understand the ending it basically says he was imagining it all or thought he was dreaming but it happened, unfortunately the reason why he thought it is because he died at the end and imagined an ending, all of those alive comrades in his imagination were the dead ones, and the dead ones were alive, playing the last post. The poppies referenced the flanders field. I thought it was nice

Standing on my doorstep at 11am today, November 8. My mum started crying and I did too. My grandad was a territorial army soldier and at his funeral he had a full military sendoff. This was played as his coffin was lowered into the ground. 😔😰😭
I still use the Last Post to remind my self the day is done. They played this every night around 11p.m. while I was in basic training at Ft. Knox, KY. There were some nights this is all it took to get to sleep.

Thank you for this, I played it today after having my own remeberence ceremony in the garden for my friends. Had a whisk, poured one out for my friends then stood there remembering the good times with them. Again thank you for the last post.
I am an American who has studied history and the various wars, and I have an uncle (S/SGT James W. Spence) who served in the 78th Infantry Regiment, KIA on March 3, 1945 at Weisweiler, Germany. However hearing this bugle post one cannot escape the instant feeling of admiration and loss of all those allied soldiers who gave their lives in defense of freedom, it would do the youth of today good service to hear and understand what this post is all about. We owe them this solemn honor perpetually.
Yesterday I said my final goodbye to my hero, my grandad who was in the 8th parachute regiment 6th airborne division. Rest in eternal peace brave soldier
