The Montmartre neighborhood, or the Painters' Quarter, as it is known to foreign tourists, is the highest neighborhood in the city of Paris and is historically linked to the most famous painters such as Pablo Picasso, Vincent Van Gogh, Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro and other great painters who lived or worked in the neighborhood since the year 1872 until most of them left for Montparnasse neighborhood after the end of World War I, and it contains one of the most famous Catholic churches, the Church of the Sacred Heart.
It is famous for its restaurants and cafes and for its sweeping view of large parts of the city of Paris.
It is also famous for the presence of a large number of French and foreign painters who are visited by tourists seeking a memorial painting for themselves or their loved ones.

حي مونمارتر او حي الرسامين كما هو مشهور عند السياح الأجانب، هو اعلى أحياء مدينة باريس إرتفاعا واقربها إرتباطاً بأكثر الرسامين شهرة كبابلو بيكاسو وفنسنت فان جوخ وكلود مونيه وكاميل بيسارو وغيرهم من عظماء الرسامين ممن سكنوا الحي او عملوا فيه منذ العام ١٨٧٢ إلى ان غادره معظمهم إلى حي مونبارناس بعد نهاية الحرب العالمية الأولى، وفيه واحدة من اشهر الكنائس الكاثوليكية وهي كنيسة القلب المقدس، ويشتهر بالمطاعم والمقاهي وبإطلالة كاشفة لأجزاء كبيرة من مدينة باريس، كما يشتهر بتواجد عدد كبير من الرسامين الفرنسيين والأجانب يقصدهم السياح طمعاً في لوحة فنية ذكرى لأنفسهم او لأحبتهم.
