Yes, this and Warriors in my opinion. Sadly they don't seem to be making any cinematics with ultra good graphics/animations and insanely good music that gives goosebumbs even after the 100th time you have watched it...
The whole cinematic talks about the various relationships between humans and gods; Olaf and Sejuani passing through Volibear's territory, Kai'sa and Taliyah uncovering the lost civilization of Shurima, once ruled by their gods, and fighting forces from beyond, the Void. Pantheon, the one human with the only purpose to kill the gods who strike him down along with his comrades. It all starts and ends with the work of Ornn, the blacksmith god that plays in favor of humans and represents their inner strenght, unique and unbeatable. As always, League cinematics are godlike.
I think seju and olaf weren't just passing their territory. Her latest story was about goint to fight volibear. They're probably there to pick a fight.
yeah if you think about it he is kinda immortal at least in battle. He got a prophecy that he won't die in battle but as of old age. Which is a great dishonor to an viking so he goes recklessly in every battle in hope to die honorably and prove the prophecy wrong
I love Pantheon a lot, the way he speak of men stuff like that, the moment when he charged his celestial power and charge through the heavens, bro gave me chills and made me realize why I main'ed him in-game.
God I love the details, how Pantheon puts down the spear, he doesn’t want to kill the solari. But when Leona shows up, he has no qualms with killing an aspect of the gods. And his face when he sees the dead at the base of Mount Targon. So good. And that ending, Ornn plunging the newly made infinity edge into the ground like, “It’s time, we march to war.” Chills.
The crazy thing is, you can see the demacian swords plunged into the ground, they actually added in details from demacia’s way of exile, which is climbing the mountain
I love the fact that they show size difference in Xer'Sai's and Rek'Sai. Really shows the power of Rek'Sai and her reign on the Shuriman sands. Really good to see her in a cinematic
I love that Pantheon finally got an actual lore cinematic, I loved Targon's inclusion, the whole deal with the celestial gods and space and constellations look so beautifully animated. Meanwhile, Ornn: "Topside business ain't my concern" In all srsness though Ornn hasn't made a weapon since the founding of the Frejlord, so that's also kinda big lore-wise.
Just the way they incorporate the game moves into "what it would" be like in a real fight, truly amazing, great care and love in every shot! I freaking live this!
The sadness in taliyah's eyes when kai'sa looked at her. She knows what kai'sas thinking, which is sacrificing herself, jumping straight to the void preventing the void to resurface and then taliyah closed it. Man the details. Just great.
@@outf0xed I think he means her design in general, not the quality of the cgi. As in someone that survives the Void, living in it through a symbiote relation with a Void creature shouldn't look like a super model with make up on beneath her mask
@@janbertguerrero6988 yea as a kaisa main i didnt like her looks in this one too much. i mean its not bad, but i wish she looked like her classic splash art. even in warriors, she looked.. nice, but too skinny, and also a bit brown. i like her pale look.
he's fighting himself, he's a pacifist and making the sword means he's opening himself to the conflict with the Freljord and Volibear :) if you didnt get it
Finally the non-mainstream champs getting highlighted in a cenematic...the level of details especially on Pantheon's face is next level...the emotions...the haggardness...i love it
Panth has definitely been getting alor of love. Actually he and Olaf were both just in the ruination event that ran through most of last year, as well as the ruined king game. But yeah Sej getting love is pretty hype, the most overshadowed Frejlord champ
@@RaphDeGrate Acting like the ruination event wasn't just a spit in the face of everything panth/atreus' lore represents, topped off with 3 seconds of screen time where he stands around then gets saved by the sentinels
The modeling is extremely good, but the animation could be better, I mean just look at how pantheon fights those Solari, It feels unrealistic like if there was no gravity. Look at Blizzard cinematics and you will learn what a perfect animation is.
I don't even play League, but this cinematic gave me chills, the creators are incredible artists and this is a testament to their skill and ability. Hats off. Amazing work.
@@woogaloo same ! Blizz might still have an edge (though very minor) on the animation side but music wise Riot hands down wipes the floor with Blizz in my opinion.
Seeing aurelion sol made me so happy, wait... (I hope this isn't a "hes technically in the cinematic, we don't have to remember he exists after this" type deal). It was such a hype build up, too.
Although very funny to see ornn just forging while everyone is fighting, his scenes are so lore heavy. He promised 1000 yers ago (or some like that) that he would never make another weapon unless there was a big threat in the world. This gives us the signal that the main event this year is going to be something big (and we all hope its the void event). Hopefully this delivers what the ruination failed to give.
@@taxusbaccata123 no it's true. he refused to make weapons after volibear wiped out his people or something. To be able to make weapons means something must have changed his mind.
I feel like it's too early for the Void, considering what's going on with Thresh I think we're getting set up for Mordekaiser to make his grand return.
I wish something like this can be created again. The song, even without the visuals, feels so cinematic and glorious. Can't believe I missed this for about a year since nothing as inspired me as Awaken did.
I love how the three Freljord demi-gods play on the rift EXACTLY like their lore says. Voli, absolutely raping games, Ornn relaxed doin his own thing, and Anivia is irrelevant.
The love they put into these cinematics man, Pantheon sets down his spear when he fights the solari troops, his problems have never been with mortals. He doesn't want to unnecessarily kill those who he deems undeserving of it.
@@nicholashatfield5128 It’s even more metal than that. Riot released a story for Pantheon that was suppose to come out before this cinematic. Basically after he got taken over by black mist during the crappy ruination event, he became depressed and lost all his powers. He went to his friend’s (the one who died climbing the mountain with him) wife and asked if it was ok to quit, but she basically told him no and that he has a duty to fulfill. Basically, in this cinematic he’s climbing Mount Targon, fighting Leona, tanking a meteor blast and falling thousands of feet without any of his powers. He only gets them back at the end when he sees all the swords of fallen soldiers and climbers, then uses grand star fall to go fight who knows what. Pantheon is the omega chad.
It's way more iconic than 2025, unfortunately. I just went back to watch it thinking "did I rise my expectations ?", yet after watching it I'm like "no, def was better 3 years ago".
The new cinematic lacks the "hype" that the older ones have. Plus i feel a detachement from music in the new one compared to the older ones where the music orchestrates the video.
With the new lore just came out about Atreus called "In battle, broken", it was revealed that prior to the events happening in the cinematic that Atreus has essentially lost all of his celestial powers after the Ruination and was mentally scarred and basically wanted to give up rebelling against the gods as he's getting tired and weak. So what we're seeing here is Atreus still continuing his rebellion towards the gods even without his celestial powers but was still able to put up a fight against Leona who is an actual aspect. Only after the fight that Atreus has regained his celestial powers back for unknown reasons. That only makes him much more of a chad than he was before. He's a man among aspects and gods.
@@andreashofmann4556 People are speculating that the meteors are created by Aurelion Sol as the Targonian crown that impairs him gets weaker and weaker. The main boss might be coming. Or the meteors are actually Zoe's stars thrown around for unknown reasons.
@@andreashofmann4556 Most likely Atreus regained his will to fight he was knocked down, which in turn brought back his powers. Atreus' powers were based off of his indomitable will and refusal to give up, and since after the ruination he was mentally scarred and wanted to give up he lost his powers as a result. Once he was knocked down, he regained his will to fight, and in turn regained his powers.
For those who are not aware of the lore during the ruination, Viego took over Atreus along with some of the other champions. Diana the aspect of the moon fought him, defeated him, and by doing so, helped release Viego's control over him. The man must definitely have questioned himself a lot after all that happened to him then.
I think my favorite thing is that Pantheon began his fight this cinematic using none of his powers. He chose to fight as a mortal against the other humans, but when the celestial shows up is when he finally dons his own powers and fights at his full strength. Very in line for Pantheon lore.
I'm just happy that Pantheon is getting his due recognition in the cinematics. His storyline, while being very simple, is very inspiring and one of the best lore reboots they have done IMO
Well, it's less a story reboot and more a continuation of his story arc; the same as the Akali rework. Pantheon prerework was the aspect itself and now it is Atreus the man who happens to possess the powers of an aspect.
@@AndreiStaAna-pe5rs His story is essentially a man named Atreus that gets kicked down hundreds if not thousands of times and still gets back up. He climbed to the top of Mount Targon and the Aspect of War looked at him and was like "THIS weakling came up here!? This is a disgrace! I'm going to take full control of his body as opposed to just empowering him just to make sure he can't mess up!" And then the aspect of war, Pantheon fought Aatrox and died to getting stabbed through the chest by Aatrox's sword. Atreus wakes up and his first action is to spit in Aatrox's face. He survived the fight and recovered for a couple years on a farm then realized he was needed and picked up the Pantheon's spear and helmet to go out and do good. His entire story from then on is basically the embodiment of the spirit of humanity fighting back against all these uncaring gods and void entities and so on.
@@quickredf0x143 Don't forget he did it all to save his homeland as far as i remember, and yet the god of war just takes his body and uses him for his own goals.
Saw this on the day it was out, seen it many times since then, and saw it today once again. The Pantheon-Leona scene is still one of my favorite scenes in cinematic history. Something about it is just straight up phenomenal and I absolutely adore the entire sequence. It's just awesome. The cinematic for 2023 was a disappointment, but I still have hopes for the Season 2024 Cinematic to be great.
Yeup. The game itself is painful and annoying but the characters, lore, music and everything else is what makes League so awesome. Its funny because League is supposed to be a game and roots in a game but oh well..
Side note that this is Pantheon fighting without the power of the aspect. For all intents and purposes, he's essentially human until the end of the video. That being said he solo'd 4 guards with only a shield, and then proceeded to give Leona a good fight, and then tanked a beam from a god.... Only to survive. As a human. Really explains how Atreus is able to fight Aatrox
@@danielchung1862 Ornn has not crafted a weapon in +- 1000 years, so the fact that he's now getting to work means War's coming if that's what you're wondering

@@skyricaura1834 I mean, the projectile Pantheon got hit by looks like one of Aurelion's doesnt it? And by the end Pantheon launches himself straight up towards the stars. It also makes sense that in his quest to defeat celestial beings Aurelion Sol would be the biggest enemy for Pantheon.
I really hope everything in this cinematic is going to continue to be expanded on. We already heard of Sejuani and Olaf fighting against the Ursine, a new story was just released about Taliyah and Kai'Sa, and I really want some more Aurelion Sol stuff (pretty sure those were his stars blowing past the Solari and Pantheon... even more curious why the Solari were protecting that portal in the first place).
For the initial star my first thought was Zoe and was pretty psyched, but the starfall made me think Aurelion. Either one in a cinematic makes me happy so I'll take it. I'm also a Taliyah fan so this cinematic made me doubly happy. I honestly still think it could be both, as Zoe seems determined to make ASol her friend and one of Pantheon's voicelines implies he's fought her before (something about the worst god bearing the face of a child), because that initial one really does strike me as one of Zoe's but the rest are obviously ASol and the line in the sky
One thing I quite like about this cinematic is that Kai'sa somehow looks a little (just a little) more ... sinister (?) than when she was in the 'Warrior' cinematic, which suits well her since her whole story is "this void-consumed sinister-looking monster-like lady that is actually good." Older Taliyah, huge Rek'sai, and menacing Leona look absolutely fantastic. And oh my god, Sejuani, Olaf, Ornn, Volibear (not 100% visualized but he's there), and freaking god destroyer daddy Pantheon in a cinematic? Yes yes YESSSS please!
I still feel like she's too 'untouched.' She wouldn't make people run away screaming like it depicts in her lore. But ur right. its a step in the correct direction
@@jordipernillo3026 It's more so the association with the void that makes people run away screaming, as well as the folklore amplifying their fear. "Beware the girl who came back a monster."

@@nicholashatfield5128 It’s even more metal than that. Riot released a story for Pantheon that was suppose to come out before this cinematic. He went to his friend’s (the one who died climbing the mountain with him) wife and asked if it was ok to quit, but she basically told him no and that he has a duty to fulfill. He's a man among aspects and gods.
thank you for this bit of info. good to know that the ruination was an event that had actual lore consequences
Now explain why the awesome fight was ruined by a meteor and why he turned into a rocket?

What's his story if I may ask?

Older Taliyah, huge Rek'sai, and menacing Leona look absolutely fantastic.
You're cringe, please stop
@@jordipernillo3026 It's more so the association with the void that makes people run away screaming, as well as the folklore amplifying their fear. "Beware the girl who came back a monster."
relax massyl grownups are talking
@@michaeldionne2438 read that last line, if that's not cringe then idk what is
