Drake Maye is good but he's not as good as Penix, Daniels or Caleb. Some thinks he throws like Burrow but to me he's not on his level either athletically.
I'm in the minority but when I see penix as a college qb ( with best receiving room in nation along with best o line in pac) , I see a guy with 10.5 inch hands with a cannon for an arm but too many slights that don't travel well in NFL. The fact that he's an older rookie plays against him cause he's just not going to change arm mechanics. A pocket passer that seems not well versed on layered throws which leads to " hospital balls" . They could've had the #1 defensive player in draft . One player can make a difference in a wide open NFC ( imo ). The way the schedule is structured seems advantageous for falcons in 2nd half .Cousins is com8ng off achillies , should be 100%, but if the falcons somehow start 3-3 which is absolutely no big deal - now it can be a big deal cause people will people. Don't like it .
If anyone has watched any of the interviews of the actual Falcons players. Nobody in Locker room is thinking about Penix vs. Cousins. That's all outside noise. All the WRs and Defense has been saying the whole time is how much they love Cousins and his leadership and his ability to teach them the offense. All the WRs are happy. All the WR are looking at Justin Jeffersons stats and Cousins 4,3K plus consecutive passing season and saying we are about to ball the hell out. And why as a WR wouldn't you think that. 4K+ passing yard = 2 or 3 thousand yard WRs. Don't shoot the messenger thats just how the math works. The man made JJ a 1st team All Pro WR. Let's not act like it isn't true. JJ is Cousins rookie. And JJ didn't want Cousins to leave the Vikings. Everyone knows this. This isn't a secret. And the Fact that the Falcons have 4 prime time games early in the season and late also tells you what the NFL thinks that Cousins will elevate this team to also. For those that don't know, 180Mil QB will get you 4 prime time games. You don't have to like it the NFL loves it. They know Cousins was on track to have an MVP season stats wise last season before he got hurt. We talking 4,8K to 5K passing yard 46 TDs and 11 ints .....
If he stays healthy he can make serious changes here in Atlanta or so I hope. Which means if he feels any pain of any kind ignore it and keep going or he's screwed and probably won't start anywhere anymore. No team will pull for a injury prone QB no matter the greatness of skill.
