the battery you purchased will not be able to output enough Amperage to jump start a car so don't try it or the connector you have will get very hot and melt plastic housing on the battery then battery acid will leak out or over time swell the battery until it explodes. the old battery had different amperage burst rating thus why it had much thicker and stronger terminal posts.
My compressor stopped working. I went to Harbor Freight and bought the HNBR O-Ring assortment and used the AD14 (1/2'x5/8"x1/16") O-Ring. This fits on the piston inside the compressor body. Added a little grease on the O-Ring when reassembling the compressor. It's pumping like new again!
Bought the STANLEY 1000/500 j509 in Nov of 2018. I have always kept it charged as per instructions. Even so the 2 times I tried to use it to jump start my lawn tractor it was unable to. Recently I noticed that the USB status light would come on randomly. I contacted customer service and was told some BS about the circuitry. The rep said to charge it for 40 hrs. I did so and after that now the three battery status lights come on randomly also. I just tried to use it to start the lawn tractor, after it had been full charged less than a month ago. Same story, no start. I put it on to charge and after all three lights indicated fully charged I took it off charge. The next day I noticed that one battery status light was lit. I put it back on charge and it seems to be completly discharged.
I got to give you two thumbs up. The same thing is happening to me. I had mines for 7 years so it could be that the battery is not holding a charge any longer. Well; after 7 years it was bound to happen. So; I'll try what you said and will let you know what happened. Thank you very much. It's a great video.
13 year old Stanley 600 had a faulty charger. Only put out 7 volts instead of 12 or so. I now charge it through the 12 volt port with a charger from differemt jump starter that charged through the 12 vollt port. Seems to be hilding at 12.5 volts now. Alternatively I can connect the clamps of a battery charger to the jumper clamps with the switch in the on position. These jump starters can also be charged with a male to male extention from the 12 volt port in your car to the 12 volt port of jumper. See manual. Keep car running to avoid draining vehicle battery.
Great video Thank you. :) I use to have a vector jump starter it lasted for 9 years but nothing lasts forever, trying to find a good one of those now is impossible. So I just bought a Stanley 1000 Peak in march. Tested it, worked great but when it was time to recharge, it will not keep a charge. it's doing the exact same thing as yours. I'm going to try to replace the battery also. hopefully that's all that's wrong with it.
what is the result of inserting a replacement battery with higher amps? the original battery had 7 amp which the machine increased to 500 amp. would a stronger lead acid battery inside enable the machine to output higher current (amps)?
Here's a tip get a battery maintainer and attach it to the internal battery terminals with the ring connectors that will keep your unit fully charged at optimal power and make the battery last longer. I did it with mine and it's much better than the AC adapter that comes with most because they want it disconnected once it's fully charged and if you keep it at home like me it can go dead before you use it. But a good battery maintainer will give the battery the equivalent of exercising to maintain it's power, health, longevity and optimal power.
I'm not sure if you'll see this but those batteries are never suppose to go lower than half of their power output (don't let the battery run dead recharge on half life) if you do this they last a very long time
Please note that opening or modifying the jump starter is not recommended by the manufacturer and it will immediately void your warranty. Consult your instruction manual for guidance on the safe operation of your jump starter. Please don't hesitate to contact manufacturer Customer Service for troubleshooting help.
Kumusta ka. Nice easy to follow video. I have the 500 Amp and my light or battery is low and won't hold a charge. I'll replace battery too. Hopefully it fixes problem.
Thanks for making the video. 12 v and 7 ah battery is rubbish. You should replace it with a 12 v and 17 ah battery. BTW I recovered my very old starter pack with a Optimate 6 smart charger. The voltage before was negligible. I charged it with a small solar panel then used the standard supplied charger which took it to 12.6 v. and then finally got the Optimate out and the voltage has increased to 13.1 v. ;).
I'm not going to do the repair on my unit but it's nice you took a video of the disassembled product. Gives you a better idea of what you may have to do if you decide to fix it on your own.
PNYpreppper Hi, I bought the Stanley jumpit 600 and charged it fully. After 7 days the lights showed dead. I never jumped anyone. Was gonna take back but decided to give it a 2nd chance. It has stayed charged for two weeks now. What do you make of that?
Can you please tell me what I'm doing wrong.. I bought it in last night to charge it because it said low and I plugged it in from about 11 p.m. till noon time today and it still says low.. so this time I put it in the on position and it's charging but I don't know if it really is or not and it still says low ..can you please please tell me what in the world I am doing wrong . It's very cold out and yesterday I had to charge the car battery and I don't know if I would have problems with it today.. can somebody please tell me why it doesn't seem to be that the portable charger is charging
how do you know its the battery and nor the charger? if the charger is not charging it right it will overcharge or undercharge your bat again and you may wreck it if its overcharging.
help Can You quick charge it from your car with the 12 volt adaptor to your cigarrete lighter???also how many hours has to be charged in your wall socket
Don't attach 110v to the outlet of the charge adapter you removed. The output voltage there should only be about 14 VDC. If you put 110v AC to it you may very well start a fire or blow up the battery which has acid in it.
My Stanley 1000 amp pack was always low... It was going dead fast and Never seemed to hold a charge until I used a regular automotive charger on it and connected the clamps from the charger to the clamps on the jump pack. I used the genius 3600 brand charger which has a battery repair mode. My Stanley jump pack is about 6 years old and still works like a champ... The 1000 amp pack has an internal charger but I think the Chargers they build into these are junk.
Seeing that the unit is 6 years old the battery could have been too weak to hold a charge. The Genius charger you used to charge the unit probably restored the battery why it is working properly now. The Genius and Vmaxtank chargers are capable of reconditioning weak (not dead) batteries to near new like state by putting them through a series of restorative maintenance stages. Have you tried charging the unit via its internal charging port since you restored the battery? My feeling is that if you do, it would accept and maintain a charge now. I'd suggest you give it a try, but if you have already verified that the internal charging mechanism is defective, then just keep charging it with your Genius 3600. Best of luck to you.
lead acid batteries are all junk , period. We live in an advanced lithium , lipo4 battery age with electrical cars and bikes. What in the world someone would still use a dinosaur like lead acid battery in anything ? so stupid !
bigtoolgarry my car battery is getting weaker and weaker like just charging the passive alarm system over night is enough to drain it to not be able to start but i have a smart battery charger with a battery reconditioning mode if what how weak should thw battery be before trying to recondition it i have a multimeter so i can check the battery in the morning when its gonna be the most weak anyway seeing the other comment above it just occurred to me it might work but not sure
I don't want to have to spend 7 and 1/2 minutes when I have to run out the door but I had the battery sitting in my house charging for about 14 hours and it still says it's low and I'm trying to figure out what I did wrong. For most of that time I had it in the off position which I thought made sense since it's I'm trying to charge it. Then in the past 2 hours I have turned it on because I'm thinking that might work but I don't know what I'm doing wrong

Yeah, the battery might look ok, but those small connectors don't look right, Me I'm looking at a Lithium Ion Battery with the correct connectors, and that has 300cca stock. It'll charge faster, go for more cycles, and weigh less, plus No Lead(Pb).
I happen to have the 500amp/1000peak version and it's been great for over 12yrs...it's just starting to show a decrease in power retention and may need a battery replacement before this coming Winter!
I just did mine with the F2 (1/4" wide) blade type battery post, one like your new battery has. Bend the terminals up in vertical position than drill a .180" hole in the center of the terminals ( easy to drill, it's only nickel plated brass, soft). Than attach the cable's 3/16" screws through the battery posts. Make sure the connections are all good and tight! It has to transfer lot of amps for jumping a car, that's why the thick cables for. Than assemble the box. problem with these lead/acid batteries, no way to maintain them. Sometimes it should be refilled with water, maybe once a year? I had another jump starter, it wouldn't charge up anymore. Took the battery out, it was dry, only showed few volts. Even after filling it up with water, did not charge anymore, battery was damaged.
+PNYprepper I think what David was trying to say is that if you need to jump start with it, the heavier lugs of the original battery will be much more capable of sustaining 600 amps of current where the replacement battery's terminals will melt down when trying to do the same. Running the USB and the 12v outlet are low amp services and won't be an issue. A heavy lug replacement battery will likely be harder to find and it will be more expensive than the one you installed.
It will take a sustained high current run for elemental lead to melt. 327.5 degrees Celsius, to be precise. The ENTIRE WIRE would also have to heat up. Metals are exceptionally good heatsinks. Melting stuff is not easy to do. The gauge of the wire is still about 10 gauge, not a some scrawy 18 gauge wire here.
+Charles Nash --all compressors will eventually need oil. If you take it apart you will probably see a little rust at the air intake. Remove the clear hose--add a few drops of 3 in 1 oil and run it. Repeat until it sounds right.

Before changing the battery did you have air compressor problems? Mine turns on but it wont inflate the tires.
My middle indicator light keeps Flashing.... sometimes it stops, and then starts flashing again!!!
Unit NEVER worked!!!
I guess I will order a battery and see if that fixes it. Its less than a year old. Was about to toss it. Thanks a lot bro!
you're welcome!
Not sure what you did to interface the cables with the new battery connectors?
I saw you cut the cables, than you cut the video too!

replace the battery pack inside

genius idea
The thing about most of these jumper packs is that they only last 2 or 3 years then you gotta get a new one.
buy a Seeley the look the same, but they work!!!!

It started my 2005 C6 Corvette that had a dead battery
I have the fat max 700. Has 3 USB ports and a built in air compressor.
I have the same problem on mine, i bought it from walmart only lasted me like 4 months.. i will see if this works
My jumper box alarm keep s going off and the air compressor work s but the alarm come s on

Beautiful Job, young man! Your thinking process and explanation was very clear. Obviously you are an excellent problem-solver.
So supportive, your false praise is not going to help him.
I recommend turning off the booster pack when not boosting a car and especially when charging...noticed the switch for booster cables were ON
Thanks for making the video.

I see no repairs, only parts replacement... I hoped this would actually give repair instructions!
Nut and bolt terminal is hard to find... might have to Mod like u did. Awesome vid!!
Wale Akinsefunmi batteries plus bulbs has these batteries with a one year warranty $ 41.00 with bolts .

Same. I jump more people than I jump myself.
help Can You quick charge it from your car with the 12 volt adaptor to your cigarrete lighter???also how many hours has to be charged in your wall socket
Do not cut the adapter off!! It converts the ac power to dc. If you hook it up straight to 120ac you will blow that board.
Don't attach 110v to the outlet of the charge adapter you removed. The output voltage there should only be about 14 VDC. If you put 110v AC to it you may very well start a fire or blow up the battery which has acid in it.
You're referring to this AC adapter that you plug the AC cord into?🤔
I wonder if we can convert it to using something a car can charge it with like USB port or DC port
Can I connect to my car battery instead of a new battery for the booster
Thanks paqiou

seven amp its very low
are you sure its will work
Had no problem with jumper. Worked on all cars. But attachment to compressor broke off. Now I can't inflate tires.
