How did it go?
I’m huge fan of the Nela trowels.Great balance and I’ve never had problem with them.Highly recommend and I’ll definitely be getting one of these
They are amazing Trowels to be fair! You'll like this one 💪
great review blaine , never had a nela trowel but this one seems worth a try , all the best and well deserved on your way to 10k subs remember the early vids and subs in the hundreds .

It's a really good trowel mate. I think you'll like it! Haha thank you for all your support my friend - are you a viewer from the beginning then? Thank you so much for your support of you are 👍
@@PlasteringForBeginners hi Blaine , yea from early days not many good plastering channels how you get on with the 10x system ,
kind regards Simon
Bang on these videos mate, started plasterering again as I've not done since my collage days back in 2009.. really helped me out
Thanks a lot mate, I really appreciate that. Cheers pal 👍

Good vid blaine. Enjoy your holidays happy christmas 🎄👍
Thank you pal. You too, hope you have a good one! I might have one more video before Xmas.... We'll see!

Thanks mate! I really appreciate that 👍
Is there any reviews on the Nela Edge Black Edition Spatula 600mm...1,200mm
Cant find an independent review anywhere!
Any advice would help as looking for my first spat!!
Watched your review, compared it to other reviews and people's opinions. Always been old-school with a gold marshalltown trowel. Gotta say, after 2 wet trowel I switch to nela for my dry trowels and then cross trowel and its perfect.
Great uploads and Happy Christmas 👍
Thank you mate! Same to you my friend 👍
I just bough a Nela best trowel i have ever used. I will start upgrading all my trowels soon
im thinking of doing plastering on side job as i always help out my mate this trowel looks awesome
Can you put the 1st and 2nd coat on with this trowel or is it just for polishing? I'm new to plastering thanks guys.
That's some nifty boarding in the background
Hello.
With this black nela finishing trowel, you said you are trying it firstly on your wet trowel, 2nd to last trowel, how many times have you trowelled up prior to using this with your steel after flattening in your 2nd coat.
Many thanks Karl.
Ps, I use steel from start to finish and can't get on with flexis or at least get use to them.
Hi Blaine, Great review of the new Nela, there has not been a new trowel to the market for a while so someone had too ......lol ....I have the flex 2 trowel so may change when that needs too the only problem with the Flexi 2 is it very easily damaged hopefully with this one it wont be
Hope you the Mrs and family have a good Christmas and New year
Hope you and the family have a good Christmas and New Year
Thanks Paul I really appreciate that pal. Hopefully these trowels last a bit longer then my friend! Thank you for the constant support and I hope you have an amazing Christmas pal! Cheers 👍
It is a totally awesome trowel bit of a game changer I do tend to find the Refina trowels are slightly too flexible and easily damaged and need constant sanding. Great video thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching pal!
I'm interested in the black edition Spatula 800mm or 1 metre one. If you could review one of those it would be useful. Cheers
I'm waiting on it also so I'll get a review sites when I get my hands on it pal 👍
Great informative video, in your opinion is it better than the Nela Mediflex for finishing?
I think it's the exact same trowel mate - it's just black. There's no difference in my opinion!
@@PlasteringForBeginners Cheers mate 👍
could i use this trowel to quote walls for roughcasting?
Looks amazeballs 🤣
Top Trowel's mate. They're mega 👍
Great video bud
Thanks a lot mate! Hope your channels going well and Merry Christmas to you 👍
Which is better. This or Nela Flex 2 gold edition. Never used a plastic trowel and everyones say these 2
Gonna after order one of these ,What size you go for pal 14"??
It's worth it mate! I've got 14" - links in the description if your looking pal 👍
When is the best time to use this trowel. I hear so many peoples theories, im under the impression to use them during watering and polish. Thanks mate good review 👍
This particular trowel is slightly stiffer so i'd say you could use the stage before wet trowelling your wall. That's probably best mate 👍
@@PlasteringForBeginners do you use a steel Trowel for your final go over?
Feels nice on first use… although it seems like it needs a lot of wearing in compared to the super flex gold 2… but from what I’ve heard the black once it’s worn in is the best of the lot
Our tutor brought this in for us yesterday, I loved it, found it much easier on the shoulder
It's a great trowel pal!
I’ve never sanded down any of my trowels. I’m a decorator who plasters but besides the plastic Refina (which I’ve sacked off due to the nela being so much better), I’ve never had any issues with finish. Currently setting up to plaster a 3 bed house so may buy a mediflex and see if I can get it broken in per se on that
Fair play mate! If it works for you then happy days! The Mediflex is decent mate... you'll like it!
I always seem to get tiger stripes, if I start using flexi trowels and spats to early in my sets ..
Yeah I often try to avoid using Flexi Trowels until the very late stages of plastering because I often get the same results pal!
I recently got a Nela super flex two gold edition. I warped it a little bit because I pushed too hard on it. I used two hands when I should’ve used one so be careful. I do Venetian Plaster in Los Angeles and now, if I don’t push a little harder on the rear of the handle rather than the front I get lines in my Venetian Plaster
I think these trowels are too flexible for Vencian plastering pal. Try a solid trowel like a Marshalltown Permashape. That's the one 👍
As an old skool plasterer that's been out of the game for awhile!
Genuine question, are these new trowels better than Marshalltons?
Hi mate. They are just a lot easier on the joints - they don't hurt as much and I must say, when they're broken in they leave an amazing finish. Try one for yourself. I don't think you'll be disappointed 👍
@@PlasteringForBeginners
Thank you for the reply. Well that sounds brilliant as that is partly the reason why I packed the game in.I used to do a lot of ''Hashing'' with 3 large gauges of skim a day and also a lot of wet dashing. My wrists are now suffering with arthritis.I intend to get back into the game although my hashing days will be no more. Thanks again for the reply and although a time served plasterer myself I love your videos👍
Sorry to hear that pal! It's a tough game which is why these Flexi Trowels are so useful! They just soften the amount of pressure you get during plastering! Thanks for the support, I really appreciate it. Thanks for watching pal👍
I have a nela medi flex is there much difference with the black edition when is best to use cheers
It's supposed to be the middle ground between the Nela Flex 2 and the Mediflex. However, if you've got one already then I wouldn't bother getting the Black edition. The Mediflex is more than good enough my friend 👍
You got a video on the refina superflex3 coming?
Maybe mate! Possibly in the future 😉
Let's hope the future is this week before I buy 1 lol
Damaged me ox flexi today which was my favourite flexi trowel so far but I'm Guna order this trowel after watching this video cheers
I hate losing a decent Trowel - it breaks my heart! Hope you like it and good luck my friend 👍
Just a heads up...The website link in the description is spelt wrong 🤦🏻♂️ .... love the video content 👍🏻
Cheers pal!
Great review! The Nela trowels are awesome.
You had much experience with lime plaster?
I know some say not to put gypsum over lime and some do. I appreciate solid external walls wouldn’t be ideal as it needs to breathe but would internal walls be ok for a multi finish re skim?
I have replaced gypsum plaster with lime on the ground floor of my home, because the gypsum failed badly. Stick to lime plaster in old buildings lacking a DPC or having solid walls. Gypsum is too moisture sensitive. With that said, the first floor walls of my home are cement rendered and skimmed with gypsum plaster. I would not replace that combo unless it fails, because it's hard work, costly and it might damage the walls. However, I would prefer to use lime on all walls, on all floors if I was starting with bare brick walls.
Bad idea it causes moisture problems, you can do it gypsum over lime plaster the only thing is that the lime can ventalate properly and condensation occurs
Just wondering if your going to show, render screed then hard walking?
Hard walling
I haven't got a video using screeds but here's a video I made on solid plastering using Hardwall plaster:
ua-cam.com/video/gqJplphsRdg/v-deo.html
Enjoy 👍
Would you do screed video this year ? Please 3🤗
Why u plastering at night mate ?
U need to keep that flatter to the wall …, sounds like p80 grit
Looks good in the dark :)
Great kel brook voiceover
Love it :)
Have you tried the Refina super flex 3
Hi mate - no I haven't yet, is it decent?
Plastering For Beginners ,
It’s more than decent,
I'll have a look pal 👍
Good review Blair. I used mine for the first time yesterday very impressed with it. I went for the 18" which I dont normally go for but very good and comfortable on the ceilings I was doing. Think I'll buy the 14" next as that's what I feel comfortable using on walls. Have a good Christmas 👍🏼
How was the 18"? Thanks a lot mate I really appreciate that! Cheers
@@PlasteringForBeginners I actually thought it was quite light and didn't feel to much pressure on my joints
Cool that's good to know. Cheers mate 👍
@@PlasteringForBeginners sorry Blaine thought your name was Blair 🤦🏼♂️
Haha don't worry mate - everyone gets my name wrong to start with 😉
Have this trowel In 16 inch agree with you feels great looks great but is taking and age to wear it In.
It really does. It's brilliant when it does eventually go though. Great trowel 👍
Is it better than the awesome ultra flex ox trowel?I've never looked back from buying and using me ultra flex ox.I already have a premium nela(cork handle)trowel that I bought 2yrs ago and use that when laying on as its ridget....but if this new black nela is better than the amazing ox trowel I might treat myself... I'm a bit sick of having loads of different trowel to choose from so I'm 50/50 with buying any other new trowel.as their say"If it ain't broken, don't fix it!"ha but im all for keeping up with the healthier, quicker, better trowels to make it a tad bit easier on the workload and stress on wrist.good review again bud.
Hi mate! It's a lot stiffer than the Ox Ultraflex which means you could use it earlier in the stages of plastering. However, I totally agree. If you have a set up that works then why change it? The Nela Black Edition is an amazing trowel but if you don't need another one then don't bother. However, it is a great trowel and you wouldn't be disappointed if you changed your mind 😉
Thanks for the support by the way and thanks for watching!
Hi buddy which do you prefer the Ox ultraflex or that one?
It's tough to say since they are different trowels in terms of flex and roles. I'm going to try it out further and then I'll let you know pal. However, I am very impressed with the Nela trowel so far - it's a cracking tool 👍
@@PlasteringForBeginners awesome cheers bud!
No worries mate!
What do u think is better when a straight edge timber or plaster straight edge?
I always use aluminium pal. I much prefer it 👍
@@PlasteringForBeginners where about me u from pal am near Blackburn England

Wicked! Let me know how you get on 👍
What is it like for drywall finishing
I'm not sure to be honest pal... I'm sure it's great but it is slightly flexible so I don't know how that would with??
@@PlasteringForBeginnersthanks. yea maybe only good for skim coat. I recently ordered the nela black and red skim blade .hope it works good for drywall
Is that a 14" or 16" mate?👍
can you replace the blades
Just bought one
Enjoy 👍
Enjoy 👍
Not a bad price as well 👍🏻
It's fair isn't it pal!
Just bought this trowel can’t wait to use it. Another great video, just bought 5 bags of multi at £12.50 a bag 😂 priceless
It takes a long time to break in so just be aware of that! Madness isn't it - can't wait for it to come back in circulation!!
Plastering For Beginners me too mate I must admit it’s a really heavy trowel even though it says light weight , hope ur well. Be good to see more vids soon.
How to render a wall using k rend
👍👍
What trowel do you use for putting on 👍
I use a stainless steel Marshalltown Permashape pal. Gold handled Marshalltown. Great Trowel's 👍
Great Vid again ..!! Can you do an instructional vid on plastering stairs like in this vid cheers..!
Hi mate. Thank you!! I'll try - it's a shame because I didn't have enough time to film this particular stairway but I'll get it sorted soon! Cheers and merry Christmas!
Show us how it dried to really know what it does cheers ears
I'll try and get a pic soon pal 👍
Plastering For Beginners
Cheers does it look different to how it normally finishes have 2 nela trowels just wondering if it’s worth getting
I'll be honest mate, it's down to the way it feels when you're using it. If I had to say, is say the finish would be the same pal but I could be wrong. It's a great trowel to use though regardless of the finish 👍
Plastering For Beginners
Cool
Спасибо
It's very strange. I have seen so many plasterers pull out all of their fancy trowels. They show off the Nela trowel but will always end up picking and using a refina, ox or marshalltown. It seems owning a nela is more so for bragging rights.
Haha I know what you're saying. It's taken so long to break in mate which is why Refina is the winner for me! It's the first and best Flexi trowel I've used!
Plastering For Beginners
I can’t keep up buddy.
I am in the market for a new finishing trowel. I have watched nearly all your videos and each time you change your bloody mind.
Hahahahaha
Bonjour pour moi la refina et meilleurs que nela tres fragile et ce tordue dans le mauvais sens ?
I got one last week, glass walls it leaves
It’s a top trowel.
It's a decent Trowel mate!
I bet the painters love you lol
Как и где можно купить ?
You sound like Keith lemon!🤣
Cheers!
Everyone is now saying flexi trowels are no good, looks good but when painted the finish is awful, carbon steel is king, this is the way
The best trowels in the 60s and 70s a distant trowels made in America👴🏻
Добрый день
Not a fan of Nela, Marshalltown for me..
Each to their own my friend!
1980 mass unimploment meant if we couldn't find work in six months you had to re train so I did from an unemployed bricky to an unemployed plasterer and my mate did it the other way round I'm adequate at best FYI I stuck to bricklaying lol I've retired now after 50 years 🖕😂😂😂
Haha brilliant mate and fair play to you!! Respect for time served. I hope you're enjoying retirement and thank you for watching 👍
why is this on my recommend D:
sand down a 60 pound trowell your kiddin
Haha trust me it's fine! It's worth doing
My life has no meaning . I just watched a youtube about plastering. where's ma rope?
