Amen
I love the lyrics of this hymn but the traditional tune has never been my favourite.
We sang this tune at Church today and I’ve been searching for it.
Thank God I finally found it. This tune touches the soul.
A wonderful setting of a classic hymn. Thank you so much Chris.
The traditional tune does nothing for this hymn, which has a poetry that deserves to be savoured. Chris Bowater's version slows it down and gives it the expression it needs. A marvellous combination! Well done Chris.
St Peter, Jazor and Godre'r Coed are beautiful tunes as well.. The words are the most important thing.
Amazing to meet u and ur wife
An absolute gift to the Church the Lord continue to bless you as you minister a privilege to have sat under your ministry
A beautiful rendition - love the word play at end - PTL!
At one Spring Harvest when Chris was main Worship leader we sang this. We were asked to remain seated but to stand when we got to words that were meaningful to us. By the end everyone was standing. I have done this in a local church and it was special then as well.
This man was my music teacher at Yarborough High school. I was a boy in his choir. He saw me through the most difficult time of my life when my parents divorced, I was 13 years old at the time. He was my inspiration, and the only reason I went to school at all. Maestro, " a man who is very skilled at playing or conducting" he is all those things and more. God bless you sir, now and always
So glad you had this to hold on to in such a harsh period of your life.
Thanks for sharing that, so pleased you had someone to encourage you
@@daviddominguez7199 May I suggest you listen to this interview he did, it will tell you all about the man. He was my music teacher in my senior school, and that was at Yarborough High School Lincoln England. ua-cam.com/video/oSzuH-Rynlg/v-deo.html
He is indeed a blessed man! Fulfilling his divine assignment! May God continue to enrich his Ministry!!!
Beautiful rendition of an inspiring hymn, wonderful!
Enjoying this version of the song very much with my husband Samson. Life is only meaningful in Jesus. ❤❤❤
So beautiful. The old hymns are the ancient words put together in songs. God bless you Chris.
Lovely rendition of this lovely song.
its amazing whoat jesus is doing though his servants . thank you chris for your servant heart
A beautiful rendition of a beautiful song. I am humbled by the simplicity yet power of the musicality; I did some work with Chris back in 1992 at Spring Harvest. He wrote "Holy Passion, Life Consuming Zeal; Go For it!" and signed my Bible. I still use those words today.
Bless you dear Chris.....x
Jesus said: "I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture." John 10:9
A beautiful musical setting to these great words. Thank you.
I have listened to this many times, and every time it has been a blessing. Thank you! Roger Carswell
I find this version so comforting. I met Chris at a URC 'GEAR' weekend in Swanwick years ago and he really touched my heart. Thank you Chris, truly the Lord works through your ministry!
Beautiful!
I love this tune as it really marries with the words. I think it's named after Chris's daughter
@Patrick Montgomery Gill is right the tune is "Rachel" "How Sweet the Name is of course an old hymn with a variety of options in terms of tune
Oh what a beautiful voice! Brings out the true meaning of the hymn! So touching!
Thank you :-)
Merci Chris
Beautifully sung brother.
Lovely rendition
When we sang this at Spring Harvest we were asked to remain seated until we heard a 'name' we identified with - then stand. It was really moving; I've used that in a few services since and folk do respond.
Lovely music to John Newton's consoling words. I love listening to Chris's gentle rendition as my closing prayers at night. Have you come across the alternative last line in the words - 'Resounds through all the earth' which also fits well and gives the hymn a worldwide dimension? Aileen Gilchrist sings another version of this hymn.
I love doing my morning devotions with Chris' music.
Absolutely annointed.
I used to think that all of the good music had already been written.
Fabulous, balm to the soul
Wonderful song.
How sweet the name of Jesus sounds
In a believer’s ear!
It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,
And drives away his fear.
Dear name, the rock on which I build,
My shield and hiding place,
My never failing treasury, filled
With boundless stores of grace!
Jesus, my Shepherd, Brother, Friend,
My Prophet, Priest and King,
My Lord, my Life, my Way,
my End, Accept the praise I bring.
Dear Lord, I would Thy name proclaim
With every fleeting breath;
And may the music of Thy name
Refresh my soul in death.
Chris, we love this song and would like to sing it with your tune at our church! Is there somewhere that we could buy this arrangement? Thank you, and God bless.
Oh how I needed to hear this today !! One of my favourite hymns - grew up listening to Chris he's truly a man of God - God bless you Chris xx
