What filming challenge would you like to see?
Anson & Co. shooting a cinematic sequence or short in one room
Rey Naldo I’ve legit thought about this one. Considering this whole thing was on my back porch which and the short is did before was in a one room barn. I think we can make this happen!
The slightly vintage look that helios provides
What type of converter did you use in order to mount the lens on the gh5? Also do you use a speed booster with these lens? Thanks!
I hit subcribe because you just hit the point very clearly and how you thankful to your audiences ! Nice work done.
Tu Nguyen Films awesome! Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel✌🏻
Looks real nice. The Helios 44 has become my favorite lens. Haven't used it much for video though, but looking to start using it more for that.
nothing wrong with gray in the beard! 😂 love this segment man! thanks for jumping in on the challenge and you totally crushed it! this was a great review and I might have to look into the helios.
Thanks man! It was a hell of a lot of fun and made me want to do more stuff like it. Keep pumpin out the challenges! 🤘🏻
Grey bears FTW! Except i looked the other day and those greys have a mind of their own. There is not shaping those suckers lol
Thanks so much man!!!!! Very excited!!!!!!
Congrats man! I think you will definitely dig the lens.
I have no idea what this channel is about but I've seen that you've been uploading constantly and everything u upload on this channel seems high quality so I hope you make it in UA-cam because you seem like a really cool UA-camr. Hope everyone with dedication makes it in this platform.
You very kind. Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the content. ✌🏻
Perfect info. Thank you. You in fact you amplified my desire to keep using Helios. I have Helios-44M-6 that had been mounted on my Soviet times camera Zenit (1982) 😀. For the past three years, I have been using that Helios with my Panasonic Lumix G85 (old and cheap Lumix brand ($650, including native 12-60 lense!) ; yet it has the best stabilization in the Panasonic family (prior to GH5 and latest S brands). The results were marvelous in a low light (both hand held and with a tripod). Now you inspired me to buy GH5. If such cheap sh/t as G85 can produce great quality footage, I cannot imagine what can be accomplished with GH-5. Thanks again. Great job!
That’s awesome! Thanks for watching!
Hye man Well done on getting to a thousand subs! Well deserved man! Btw loved the cinematic sequence...I've gotta try that lens!
Thanks man! You’re almost there as well! In no time you will be in the 1k sub club 👍🏻
The Helios is 100% one that you need to check. SO worth it and I would love to see your breakdown of it.
I’ve been using my Helios since about 2010. It’s a fantastic lens. I’ve got a couple of them to take apart and repair, so whilst I’m at it I might customise them a bit and make a video of it.
Ps. Congrats on passing 1k 👍subscribers You’ve got great style, I’m sure your channel is gonna blow up very soon.😉
HeyPatch thanks! That’s also something i wanted to mention is you can get them modded to make them even better for filmmaking. You’ll have to let me know if you mod any!
Thanks for stopping by!
wow that's beautiful!
Thanks!
Good work, bro! You just earned a sub! I support you!
Thanks!
Looks great 👍🏻!
It is a pretty great lens for sure 🤘🏻
🤘🏻🤘🏻 I can't wait to give it to my nephew! Thank you!
I'd also recommend checking out some Minolta and Canon FD lenses. The really cool thing about those is you can also get affordable focal reducers if you want, which gives you all the advantages of a speedbooster!
Congrats! I will hit you up on social later for shipping details.
I have actually been eyeballing some canon FD glass. Probably the first few lenses on my vintage series when that starts up. I also have this crazy Minolta zoom lens (it’s actually in the background of my videos) that i looked at yesterday and thought i needed to do a video on it.
Also completely random: are you a wrestling or actually into wrestling?
@@Ansonandco Minolta lenses are my absolute favorite, so I'd love to see that review! They have my favorite 50mm lens; the f1.4 is incredible! I use it for interviews where I'm looking for the less clinical look you sometimes get from modern lenses. With an $80 speedbooster it's better in low light and has lovely bokeh! I also recommend the 50mm 1.7 if you're on a budget. It can be had for about half the price of the 1.4 and is excellent as well!
Indeed, I've been involved in the production side of wrestling for 22 years this May! It actually started my video production "career!" I was 13 years old and had a video camera, so I'd show up to help set up the ring, chairs, lighting, etc. and then film the event and edit it. I do pretty much all sorts of work these days, but I'm still involved in the rasslin game!
Such a great buy! It’s even decent for docu style interviews. Has nice separation and enough sharpness at f4
Truth! I was going to clarify but got lazy but the shot where it pans on me sleeping that was actually f4 or f5.6 and still great separation. Now some that is lens compression but either way I’ll take it!
Anson & Co. Wow awesome man. That just Reinforces the statement! Looking forward to the channel growing bro. Perfect balance of value and entertainment here. Keep it up 👍🏾
Rey Naldo thanks so much!
it makes me want to buy Helios 44-2 right now ... oh hang on .. I already have it!!!! It's going on my camera again today.
It is one of the best cinematic lenses with specific character little money can buy. Great video my friend!
Thank you sir! Yeah man i fall in love with this lens every time i put it on my camera. If only it wasn’t a 58mm focal length i would use it for everything.
The opening short is great...again!! Do you have a slider? And the “time lapse” with the plane...love it!
I feel you on the shaky hands!! 😂
Great job as always!
Thanks! The struggle is real #shakyhandsmcgee!
I do have a slider! I was sent a motorized slider by Neewer to test out and they let me keep that jam. Game changer for real! It took some time to get used to it but definitely great for product videography or creative shots as a solo content creator 😂
Anson & Co. That’s so cool! Awesome that your getting sent products like that!!
I had no idea they made lenses and sliders...very cool!
It has been really cool to test gear out and so much lighter on my wallet lol
I will say the nice thing about this slider is it is relatively cheap compared to other motorized sliders.
I will say testing some of their gear, i don’t think i realized how big their catalogue is. They make a ton of stuff hahaha
Yooooo!!! This lens looks phenomenal!!!
I know right?! I’m a big fan of this lens
Dude thank you for this video! And congrats on hitting 1,000. That is a difficult step.
I checked your affiliate link and it looks like it is sized for Canon EOS. There is a different listing for Panasonic/Olympic on Amazon that is a bit cheaper and I would gladly purchase through that one if you set it up.
Best
Thanks man! It has definitely been a grind for sure. And I did find one for $35 for MFT. Instead of putting in the description, because there is probably only one of them, here is the link - amzn.to/2UnqcrR
Appreciate the support! ✌🏻
Anson & Co. got it! Now I feel special. Thanks again man. All the best and much continued success to you. Stay safe.
Hello friend, very good video, thanks, do you know if there is an adapter to remove the crop factor from m4/3?
the Focus - Range is absolut stunning.
many thanks to you for bring this lens into my mind.
i buy one instant ...
Wait til we talk about the mir 1 and Jupiter 9 😉
Dat Helios, tho!
I absolutely LOVE this lens. I use it a ton, and have one with an anamorphic adaptation applied.
That is one thing I had on mine! Do you also have it geared out for focusing systems?
@@Ansonandco Yes, but I rarely use focus pullers or anything like that. I just ordered a Weebill S with the focus pull kit, so this answer might be obsolete once it gets here lol
Thanks! I have the adapter for Canon. Do you know where I can buy the adapter for Panasonic 4/3's?
hi Thx for the review...How would you compare this lens with the sirui 35mm? also have you used it with a viltrox speed booster M4/3 adaptor? thanks
I haven’t had the opportunity to test the sirui, so I can’t really speak to that. But I have used it with a speedbooster and it performed really well actually. Same some slight additional flaring but otherwise it worked great
how to mount this to GH5?
what colour profile were you shooting on in the back porch vibes video? and did you colour grade?
I shot in Cine D and i did grade it with a teal and orange preset i made in FCPX!
how u connect this one set? i have also gh5 and viltrox ef-m2 and use a thick metal adapter for helios to make a ef mount and when i switch one my gh5 say 'lens attachment failed.. i try upgrade my viltrox and still the same..
Is this the only vintage or manual lens you have used with the gh5?
Hey there :) the combo is awesome, I bought myself a Helios 44 lens and it is just fantastic, I tried it with an analog camera. For the GH5, did you change any settings for it? I am asking because I ordered an adapter for my GH5 (no lense, just plain metal), it came today, I put it on with my Helios 44 and unfortunately I realized, that the picture is blurry, no matter how I twist and turn the focus ring :(( and I have no idea how I can fix it....
What adapter are you using with it?
Thanks for getting back to me :)
The Helios lense I got is a 44 silver KMZ version, one of the earliest, with a M39 mount. I bought a cheap adapter for the GH5 off Amazon, it is basically a metal "frame", it has no additional lense.
What adapter do I use for a M42 to M4T?? I have a Gh5 , what do you recommend please .
Honestly any m42 to MFT adapter will work but I either used a fotasy or fotodiox adapter.
Hey, I just got myself this lens for my GH5. I'm using this lens with the Viltrox EF adapter since I found this lens with the EF mount. When I turn my camera on I am hit with a blank screen then a "lens attachment failed" after a few seconds. So gutted..any help?
You gotta change you settings to let the GH5 shoot without a lens. I don’t remember where it is in the settings but that’s what you are looking for
what is the adapter you used for gh5 to connect this lens?
I used a basic m42 to MFT adapter by either Fotasy or Fotodiox
Hello friend, thanks for the video, what do you think about using the vlog profile? With the helios or do you prefer another profile? Thank you
If I had the v log update with the gh5 I would have used it for sure. I use it now on the s series cameras and definitely prefer it
@@Ansonandco With helios lens?
@@ygolonak33 yes
Which mount is it and how can I adapt it on the MFT mount?
You can use m42 to MFT
Nice video. Did you use any filter when shooting outside wide open?
I probably used a very inexpensive variable ND with this video
@@Ansonandco Thanks for the unswer. If you remember please let us know 😊
@@user-jj7um6ch9p I am 99% sure it was a gobe 3 stop ND filter actually. At that point o had moved on from ultra budget VND
2 questions: 1) is the focal length 44mm? 2) What do you set the focal length in camera? 88mm?
Moon Think it is actually 56mm which turns into 112 field of view.
@@Ansonandco Thanks, couldn't find that info anywhere else.
hey whats the adapter you need to use on a GH5?
For this I believe I was using a m42 to EF adapter and then an EF to MFT speedbooster. The speedbooster was from viltrox and the m42 to EF adapter was a random no name
Brand
What is the equivalent in full frame please ?
Full frame equivalent for the gh5 would be 112mm
@@Ansonandco Thanks
I got the wrong adapter for the Helios for my GH5. Is there a cheap adapter you recommend for the gh5?
Which adapter did you get? I would look at something like a fotodiox m42 to MFT adapter
@@Ansonandco I got the fotga m42-m4/3 and it wouldn't lock all the way. Thanks for the recommendation. I will definitely check that one out!
I JUST RECEIVED A HELIOS 44-2 ANAMORPHIC lens from Nazi occupied Ukraine today. Haven't tried it yet. I expect the best shots will be at night to get any flaring. I have a GH5S so also needed to buy a speedbooster. Bought one from China for under $100. Bought a normal 44-2 last month and experimenting now with that lens.
holy crap. I've had this lens all summer and didn't know that there was a clicked aperture xD
Haha ENJOY!
which one is the best? 44-2 or 44-3?
44-2 IMO
Great :)
Thanks!
@2:00 bro why you vapin when filming broll?
Lol I forgot I did that once.
Did you need a speed booster? Or is this an actual micro four thirds lens?
Joshua Faleatua no need for a speedbooster, but it will need at least a passive adapter. M42 to MFT.
Anson & Co. thanks , one more question . Are you using an ND filter in order to shoot wide open? And if so, what ND would you consider using with this lens
wich adapter to use for this lens that it can work with gh6 ?
M42 to MFT and yes it will work on the GH6
I am using adapter K&F concept M42-M4/3. Great results with Panasonic Lumix G85 (old and cheaper brand). Also works perfectly on my GH4 (used for home video streaming; bokeh is gorgeous).
@@Ansonandco thank you
@@maguswest thank you
do u use a speedbooster?
for this it’s been a while but I believe I did. It would have been a viltrox speed booster
If I have a meta booster, can this lens fit on the gh5 or do I need to purchase a new adapter?
What mount is the speed booster? EF?
Anson & Co. it’s the metabones EF-MFT mount T Speed Booster
black hoodie productions so you’ll need either a mf2 to EF or just go with an m42 to MFT
Anson & Co. okay. Man, I really appreciate it! Trying to get some vintage lenses for a short film within a music video so I think this would work great
Anson & Co. will either of those adapters fit other vintage lenses?
Можно посмотреть фильм снятый на Helios 44-2... Вы много сказали а примеров нет🚫
GREAT JOB, SON!!! Mom
You are up WAY too early! 🖤 YOU TOO!
Deryl, big praise to you for raising such an awesome, phenomenal son! Blessings and Best Wishes to you all. 👍🏾💚
@@Ansonandco Infinite Thanks for sharing your awesome content, brother! Just recently picked up a GH4, and I ordered a Helios 44-2 from Russia last week, which is arriving soon. Happy subscriber here. All the Best, Carlos
It's pronounced bow-ka, not bow-k
Thanks! I’ve heard everything under the sun on how it’s pronounced.
