- This is the engine and passenger cars I run under my Christmas Tree every year. The MTH Lionel Corporation Orange and Blue 263E with matching 2600 series cars. MTH has made some of the finest tinplate reproductions there is and this set is just beautiful. The lights from the tree reflecting off the gloss finish sets the Christmas mood!

Wow! I am humbled by the popularity of this video. MTH has made some of the greatest tinplate reproductions in both O and Standard gauge in the Mike's Train House line, Lionel Lines, and American Flyer. I only wish they could have continued and hopefully someday they will. Again many thanks for watching!

I'm not really interested in Pre-War Tinplate but I DID grab a Lionel 259e set at a local show two years ago, it was so goofy-cute I just couldn't pass it up. I run it at Christmas time with a table-top display and it looks oh-so-cool!

I only have 3 tinplate sets. One original and 2 MTH. The MTH stuff is really amazing. I hope we see more eventually.

Great video. I wish MTH/Lionel still produced the tinplate line. I highly doubt it that the two companies would work together to produce the tinplate line. While O scale trains are great, there is a bunch of us in the hobby that still enjoy tinplate trains.
I'm not sure why the license wasn't renewed but it sure killed MTH's tinplate at least for the near future.
The Lionel Orange 263e is beautiful and they are hard to come by today. I wish I had bought one. I did manage to find its big sibling, the orange 400e, and it’s always a favorite.

I preordered the black Legacy Polar Express, The abandoned toy car, The diner car, the regular coach, the new observation car, (btw these are all snow roof) and the LC2 Polar Express genesis
While I don’t have any tinplate trains I do have the 1990’s Blue commodore Vanderbilt which is a tinplate inspired locomotive and tender

Gorgeous train set Marty! I always wanted one of these tinplate sets (both of my sons as well) but as of yet we still don't have one . Your videos are perfect and a joy to watch. As of now I have some Lionel & K-Line TMCC and Legacy engines along with some Lion chief sets. I would like to get some DCS MTH engines and currently the DCS TIU and Remote are out of my budget; but I am considering the DCS Explorer, yet know nothing about it. Would be nice to see a video on one for the beginner- I'm sure they're on You tube but I haven't seen any yet. Anyhow great video and keep them coming! A+++
Thanks. I have sold a lot of my MTH because my TIU, an original, has been having issues. Once they release the new TIU w/ WiFi I'll start picking up more MTH again.

I miss MTH Tinplate. It was some of the best.
Neat Video! I'm not into Tinplate in any serious manner (my only other Tinplate items are a couple of Hellgates and the Backshop accessory), but I did decide to go for these when they were offered. After getting these, I will say I then learned about and hunted down some similar paint scheme freight cars (from a few years earlier) that would also look good pulled behind this engine (IIRC (off the top of my head), a boxcar, reefer, caboose and maybe a hopper). I don't see myself expanding into other Tinplate offerings, but I do enjoy these.
As to the catalog question, I most likely will be ordering some rolling stock to continue themes I've already got going. Most likely the 3 new WOA cars, the two traditional sized Acme boxcar offerings (though I do sort of wish they had done the Tank Car and TOFC in traditional rather than scale sized - as I do think they are nice ideas), and the regular 2024 Christmas boxcar.
I'm considering one (not sure which) of the Polar Express wind up hand cars, but not sure on that yet, or maybe the North Pole Central TMCC speeder with the plow on it.
As to bigger items, probably not much. The AEC set did catch my eye though, as well as the B&O Royal Blue engine and matching passenger cars. I am sure I am not going for both of those, but _maybe_ one or the other. Still plenty of time to decide before the pre-order deadline.
I will say for the Polar Express offerings, I was disappointed to still not see the traditional sized Conductor Announcement car offered, but with snow on the roof this time (and the associated different placement of the PE markings). To the best of my knowledge they never re-did that car with the snowy roof.
I also have a lot of the freight cars in the Orange / Blue paint scheme which I'll be showing a little later this year.
The catalog is big so there is a lot to ponder. Thanks for watching!

Great video Marty. I also have the 263E in the Chessie Steam colors PS3 and i love it. By the way, are you doing cab 2 upgrades at york? If so what hall are you in and do i have to bring along the base? Thanks Marty.
Thanks. If you only need the Cab2 upgraded then you don't need the base. I'll have one on hand to check that the upgrade was successful. It's a little early but usually I am in the Orange Hall lobby for about a half hour on both Thursday and Friday. Once we get closer I'll post a time on OGR but typically it has been around 3:30 on Thursday and 11:30 on Friday.

I'm assuming the 20th anniversary coach only has the snow covered roof? I have a set of the black roof and was hoping they offered both versions, but I don't think they are.?
It looks like only the snow roof for this car. Hopefully they'll reconsider. Maybe write Lionel.
