The Kinks were an English rock band formed in London in 1963 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies. They are regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s. The Kinks' music drew from a wide range of influences, including American R&B and rock and roll initially and later adopting British music hall, folk, and country. The band gained a reputation for reflecting English culture and lifestyle, fuelled by Ray Davies' wittily observational writing style. The Kinks and the songs of Ray Davies are now rightfully established as a great British institution. From the opening riff of You Really Got Me, The Kinks’ influence as pioneers in heavy metal, power pop, conceptual albums, and theatrical shows can be detected in much modern music.
This, and much more, can be seen on this UA-cam channel exclusively devoted to these true British originals.

IMO the entire album is politically charged, class structure, basic human rights, the power of money, etc are all themes touched on in just this album but the entire Kinks discography starting with TVGPS and onward is very politically charged vocally. Father Christmas gimme some money

Get Back In Line The Kinks Facing the world ain't easy when there isn't anything going
Standing at the corner waiting watching time go by
Will I go to work today or shall I bide my time
'Cos when I see that union (jack) man walking down the street
He's the man who decides if I live or I die, if I starve, or I eat
Then he walks up to me and the sun begins to shine
Then he walks right past and I know that I've got to get back in the line
Now I think of what my mamma told me
She always said that it would never ever work out
But all I want to do is make some money
And bring you home some wine
For I don't ever want you to see me
    Standing in that line
Cause that union (jack) man's got such a hold over me
He's the man who decides if I live or I die, if I starve, or I eat
Then he walks up to me and the sun begins to shine
Then he walks right past and I know that I've got to get back in the line

I have contended elsewhere that if some of these songs were Beatles songs they would have been massive hits and some of their albums would have as well and yet I have read other hardcore fans expressing the opinion that is so fortunate that they did not have George Martin producing their albums because he would have turned them into commercial successes and they would not have been as great as they are to those of us who are hardcore Kinks fans. In other words I think people are saying The Kinks are what the Beatles would have been if they had not been such a commodity. So I will state for the record now my opinion that Ray Davies was not quite the Happy songster Paul McCartney was nor the rebel that John Lennon was but was a person even more so than, let's say Peter Townsend or Rodger Waters, who was a combination of both.
