Another quality video from the best channel on UA-cam. I've only ever seen highlights of this game (same with 82 and 84) been loving the Grand Finals of yesteryear. Cheers.
Question from New Zealand. I'm aware the 50 metre ( and 25 metre!) arcs were West Aussie inventions long before the VFL adopted the idea in 1986. When did the WAFL implement this, and who's idea was it ?
@@geoffaldwinckle1096 It was the WAFL being innovative for the new mid season comp at the time. The WAFL also started the State Of Origin in 1977 and interchange players too. I remember the 50m arc and 25m arc being discussed the yr before. They were talking about the NFL in the US and wondered why footy didn't have any. It may have been John Todd who mentioned it.

Thanks so much for this - especially during these trying times!!
Yeah, they're just what we footy tragics need right now.
Fantastic to watch even though South Freo isn't in this one.
That early 80s swan districts team was elite
1983 version of "free-kick Hawthorn"..first 6 frees all to Claremont...I was at this game as a Swans supporter aged 11.
Million thumbs up!!!
I would like to thank North Melbourne for recruiting the krakouer brothers in 1982. Regards swan supporter.
Peter Sartori was a good player for us at Carlton. 🙂
Having a lot of fun watching all of these great games :) really would like to show the old man a South Fremantle flag though lol - any will do!
Hard to find the South Freo games.
Oh really? That's a shame :(
Listening to this 35 years later really confirms what terrible commentators we had. John Rogers was shocking.
They are better than Bruce, Basil and co
The wafl was about to enter a battle that they are not going to win

It was 1983 in the EMU Export Cup mid season comp. There's a video of the game on this channel.
@@WAFootyHub Thanks. How fascinating ! Do you have any info on what the resoning was? I have always assumed it was for tv.

Why on earth would you ever show a horrible horrible day like this?
Oh right . Sorry about that . :(
