The only time I don't wear my G-Shocks is when I'm forced by dress codes like formal wear only and such. Aside from that I always have my G-Shocks on me anytime anyday even sleeping. With you on this, any resin strap. Used to wear casios for work (hot n dusty) nightmare. Only metal for work now. I reckon it's the 1st time anyone's really gone into this subject so congrats, keep up the good work.
Do you get your rashes from casio ombi bracelet watches? I've started buying gsteels and gshocks and protreks that come on either steel, combi bracelts or titanium bracelets and they are so much more comfortable then the resin bands. So much so I hoping that a protrek prw-61 series watch comes out with a combi bracelet soon so I can order it on pac parts for my green prw-61. I love the watch but I just can't 24/7 that resin strap on it. Note I was going to order a combi bracelet from a prw-60/50 series but casio chgd the lug width from 23mm to 24mm on the new bioplastic models.....I preferred the steel plate backed watches and I still don't understand the move to bioplastic....who is treating a 300-500 buck protrek as a disposable watch? And if then that little bit of steel in the landfill is probably a lot better for the environment then more plastic.
I love G-Shocks. I hate the resin straps. I don't get heat rashes, I just don't like the way they feel. Same goes for other resin-strapped Casios. I put "JaysAndKays" adapters or straps on all my G-Shocks and my AE1200. Sure you can just put a strap on directly, but because of the way the Casio resin straps fit with those weird, short springbars, a normal straight strap with the correct fitment will look really small on the watch. The adapters give you a normal 20 or 22mm lug to connect a strap to without looking silly. I have 22mm Barton Elite Silicon straps on my DW5600 and GA-800 via adapters, a JaysAndKays integrated nylon set on my DW6900, and a Barton Cordura strap on my AE1200 via adapter. I also put a basic silicon strap on my F-91W but I didn't bother with adapters (not sure if anybody even makes adapters) and just live with it not quite looking right, because who cares, it's an F-91W ;-) I'm not affiliated with "JaysAndKays" and I don't get any kickback from them. I just really like the product. I wouldn't wear these watches half as often as I do on the original Casio resin straps. They sell via eBay here: www.ebay.com/str/jaysandkays
hey man.. try putting a little prickly heat powder on your wrist when you get these and just chill in an air conditioned room and see if it goes away in few hours.. it might work.. source is trust me bro.. but worth trying cuz it wont cost much lol
I consequently wear all of my watches either with leather or nylon strap as I tend to sweat very fast under plastic straps and metal bracelets. I have put a NATO on almost every of my G-Shocks. Not only do they look much better than the original resin straps. They also complement the rugged and durable qualities of the G-Shocks themselves much better.
Pocket watches! But seriously, I don't get heat rashes, but after a time on a warm day, my wrist gets sweaty, and I think swells a bit, making it uncomfortable. But if I loosen it, then it keeps falling off my wrist. (wah wah waaahhhhh...). But there are options as you said. Good video. Thanks.
The same people who said you don’t know what you’re talking about probably don’t even go outside. I personally can’t wear silicone because one they hold onto every piece of lint, dust, and dead skin imaginable so they get super gross after one wear. Fkm or vulcanized rubber for me. Best ones are the uncle straps and surprisingly a lot of cheap amazon brands have nice fkm. Just wish someone would release some g shock Fkm straps. Haven’t had a problem with a stock g shock strap but I’m also not outside all the time.
Casio G-shocks aren't the only straps that do this. I had to replace the strap that came with Galaxy watch 4 and couple of friends had the same problem with Apple Watch bands.
I have a collection of 9 G-SHOCKs and 5 G-Shock-inspired Chinese watches. While I used to be a huge fan of G-Shocks, I don't wear them as often nowadays. My love for digital watches remains, but I've developed a preference for smaller and slimmer designs. These days, I'm more likely to wear an F91W over one of my G-Shocks. If Casio ever creates a slimmer version of the G-Shock, I'd be thrilled to start wearing them regularly again. For now, my G-Shocks remain in my collection, serving as a testament to how my tastes have evolved over time. They stand as grand wrist clock towers from years gone by. I guess I could get something like a G-056B, but nah... It's still a chunky clock tower.
I don’t get heat rashes but I hate the resin straps. I’m with you on swapping them. I’ve ditched the resin strap on every G shock and Casio I own. Let’s start an anti resin strap support group lol
@paulkleinkramer5065 maybe? But the core part of the watch is so strong on its own. I've dropped way too many gshocks while changing straps that I'm convinced you could use a gshock without the strap as a baseball and it would be fine :)
Hey, Jory! Just wanted to give you some love (curse the haters) for wearing your watch on your right wrist. I've been doing this since I got my first Mickey Mouse watch in the 70's. I'm left-handed and it always felt natural. I'm wearing a GA-B2100 on my right wrist right now. So far no heat rash, though.
That’s one of the main problems with the G-Shocks ⌚️ is it would be nice to have a OEM matching nylon NATO 🇺🇳 strap on it and have it look good at the same time.
I don't get heat rashes. The reason I don't wear resin-strap watches in hot weather, is because I sweat a lot, and I will end up taking them off and putting them back on a lot, which wears out the band.
Actually considering punching holes in my GBX band for use in the tropics. I don’t get heat rash unless it’s 90F and 90%RH all day every day. Hoping more vent holes in the strap alleviates the issues.
Come on Jory, strap on your nice blue Timex Ironman for the summer. As I recall it has a very practical Velcro attachment strap that's lots less sweaty, made for water sports, and unlikely to irritate skin. I own more than a few Gs and more than a few Ironman/Triathlon/Shock watches. The Timex might not be the better watch, but its certainly more legible at day, due to the superior numeral size, and at night, due to the awesome Ind*gl* that you love so much. LOL.
What I find especially annoying with G-Shocks is that the resin straps are very different in quality and comfort, but you can‘t really tell until you have experienced them.
I'm one of them too!! Right wrister & hate a heat rash!!! All my G Shocks have been converted to either metal bracelets, combi bracelets or adapters & NATO straps..
I don't get heat rashes easily, but I'm mostly wearing my watches on a high quality parachute elastic style strap in this heat to deal with my wrist swelling. The exception is a Casio Oceanus that's titanium and has a titanium bracelet with a toolless micro adjust.
I have just finished the first workweek with my first G-Shock (DW-M6510U) with no problem with rashes. I work outside as an property manager. It was one of my slight worries when buying this watch.
I wear my watch on the right too and I'm right handed. I think my first watch, an analogue casio had a crown that would dig into my wrist when I bent it so I put put it on the other side and 35 years later I still wear watches on the right.
Yup! it all don't matter since you wear your Rolex all day everyday anyway :) :) but honestly your 1500 is all you need. I would and do wear my 60 year old 1500 anywhere i would wear a G-Shock with no fears. I get that G-shocks are virtually indestructible and can even survive 100m drops...problem is that when wearing one, does it matter?? I would rather be in situations where both me and my watch would keep ticking....and the great thing about yours and my 1500 is it will take any strap, look great and perform....nuff said.... carry on :)
Been wearing gshocks all my life. Luckily I don’t have rash issues. My only problem with resin straps, any brand for the matter that is a rubber material is I sweat really bad under the strap and it gets gunky and smelly fairly quick and I have to wash my wrist and even the watch in the sink through the day if it’s warm out
Funny, I have heat rash over most of my arms and torso every single year working in hot west Africa. Yet though wearing a G-Shock hasn't given me problems yet. Every skin is different obviously. Thanks for the video, keep it up!
Happens to me too but I live in the UK where it is mostly cold (especially this year) so I can wear them all day long, no problem. if I go on holiday to a hot country then I can't usually wear any type of watch, even canvas strapped ones irritate me in the heat.
I also don't wear my G-Shock GG-1000 Mudmaster or any of them on hot days. Even NATO straps can cause me issues. Stainless steel only in the extremely hot Turkish summer. It's 11pm now still 30°c (86f) and tomorrow will be 42°c (107f). If your skin can't breathe in that heat, a rash is guaranteed.
at this point I have switched from G shocks at the gym and outdoor activities to citizen watches. Some eco drives, to automatic movements. They are cheap and replaceable, relatively the same price, and look better imho. So far so good, wore my Fujitsubo while doing some deadlifts, and surprisingly, it didn’t explode or degrade the accuracy of the movement. I am starting to think automatic miyota movements aren’t actually made of glass and cardboard, and may be capable of rigorous activities like riding my bicycle through the woods, or underwater demolition
1:43 guys flex about the dumbest things, probably because flexing itself is dumb. Dumbest watch flex I see out there is guys bragging about wearing large watches. Literally, like, "I wear big watches, not little watches like some kind of sissy." 😂 yeah strapping on some blingy sewer plate of an Invicta watch monstrosity instantly makes you a big badass
If it’s really hot and humid outside and I’m gonna be out in the heat for a long period of time, I find wearing almost any watch to be annoying after awhile! My Hamilton Khaki Field on nato style strap is by the most tolerable for me personally!
Looking buff Jory! I have the same Neo Tokyo DW6900 G-Shock and threw it on a red NATO which I love but it makes it wear thickk on my wrist. Might try out that canvas strap next
Same here…can’t wear silicone or plastic straps in the heat rash city. I also tried loosening them up but it just doesn’t work, so no G shocks for me. They are great watches and will try a different strap.
Try the g shock gbd200. Totally different feeling material and great screen too. Also try fluorine rubber (also called FKM rubber) might work for you. Very different from silicone with a much smoother surface while still being very soft.
my last gshock, the strap first broke/cracked. changed the strap with a casio velcro strap with a plastic clip. the body of the watch then crumbled a few months after. its material isnt long lasting. if i get another casio, it will be all metal.
Thanks for the video. I just commented on your other g shock video of a year ago. I have this problem and discomfort since my farm is in the wettest part of tropical Australia and I work outdoors. Previously I have had metal bands, but they rip the hair off your arm (I'm male) and they are heavy me slide round too much---so you can't win, but this watch was strongly recommended by my Japanese friend I am chancing it. It's cool here now.
I always pick a nylon strap in the heat. I don’t get heat rashes but I can’t seem to make the resin straps work for me. I hate the feel and sweat even when I loosen the band. I ended up throwing an F-91W on a nato strap just for travel in hot, humid climates.
The GM2100c metal utility range all come with a nylon strap as standard, that's why I bought one. I hate resin straps, I have never found a comfortable one.
The watch that has had the most wrist time over the last 2 years is a Seiko Arnie. And I was gutted to find that it gave me contact dermatitis because of the rubber strap. Never ever had an issue like this before. I wear it a bit looser now and it’s fine. But yes considering all the gshocks you have it would be crappy not to wear them.
CasiOak mod on the steel bracelet baby! I know Jory hates it, but it's one of my favorite things ever. It's like putting a Ferrari body kit on a Jeep Wrangler.
Crazy never had that problem. I do have the silicone with holes all the way in it for strap though. I can’t wear a silicone wedding band without breaking out in that spot 🤷♂️
Rashes or not they are uncomfortable. I like changing strap if wearing while day. I extended lugs of at least 10 of my G-Shocks. G-Shocks upto $200 are still ok, beyond that they are on steroids and not in a good way. Some may look like solid pieces of art but yhey are not comfortable. Maybe a curvy back-plate and strap might help. Casio is technically advanced, they can mould something easy on wrist.
Great video. Similar with me and Nickel in 904L bracelets. PS: I will never be able to watch your videos with the same eyes after Watch Lab featured your behind for a very long time in their Boldr video. 😂😅
What a big headline for a video that only tells us that you've got an allergy and can't wear G-Shocks with a resin strap. Don't you have anything better to do?
It sucks you have heat rash reactions to silicone and rubber straps, I’m fortunate enough to not have that problem. I work in foodservice and love wearing a watch for the fashion aspect but also due to the nature of running a restaurant it is very beneficial to have a watch on wrist to tell time quickly without pulling out a phone. What are some of your favorite higher end rubber straps? I need a waterproof option so leather is out and due to the nature of my work (food particles getting stuck in things) cloth straps are not very practical. Which leaves me with rubber and bracelets. I’ve yet to find a rubber or silicone offering that really makes a watch pop. Any suggestions T3?
I have casio pathfinder solar power prg-80 I think now for 9 to 10 years the only problem I have is the watch band drying up and breaking I have replaced it 5 times now.
I am trying to get down to a ~3 watch collection. I am not going to save any of my G-Shocks. The Garmin Instinct Solar serves all purposes the G-Shocks variously cover. It and a couple of nice watches are going to wind up being all I am going to need. Hey! You like the outdoors! Give a Garmin Instinct Solar a try!
Oh man….i didn’t really notice it until til I wore my Garmin Fenix 6X. My wrist break out more than just a rash. I kept switching wrists so the reaction would calm down. Then both my wrists looked horrible. Switched back to my G-Shock GX-56GB and so far so good. Question…what are your thoughts on the G-Shock GSG100-1AWC? Looking at one and don’t really know much about it.

The only time I don't wear my G-Shocks is when I'm forced by dress codes like formal wear only and such. Aside from that I always have my G-Shocks on me anytime anyday even sleeping. Must also be due to having lived majority of my life in tropical weather I have never been affected by weather, rain, snow, heatwave don't matter.
Oh! Now I might know whats wrong with my Seiko rubber bracelet that irritates my skin.. I wear G-Shock 2100 24/7 and nothing :O
I also put a basic silicon strap on my F-91W but I didn't bother with adapters (not sure if anybody even makes adapters) and just live with it not quite looking right, because who cares, it's an F-91W ;-)
I'm not affiliated with "JaysAndKays" and I don't get any kickback from them.
This wasn’t as bad as I thought. I thought you were going to go off on g shocks from the video title. Hope your wrists feel better by now.
That’s a bummer man! Maybe try one with the combi bracelet?
Works for me, GW-5000 on a combi is my favourite in hot weather. Light, breathable, comfortable.
Yes 👍
I consequently wear all of my watches either with leather or nylon strap as I tend to sweat very fast under plastic straps and metal bracelets. I have put a NATO on almost every of my G-Shocks. Not only do they look much better than the original resin straps. They also complement the rugged and durable qualities of the G-Shocks themselves much better.
Where did you purchase that adapter for your mudmaster?
Never had a rash but I dont like straps in general. I put combi bracelets on my gshocks whenever possible.
A G shock on textile strap looks stupid.
Yeah it's plastic so not a natural material. Out our bodies know
Sounds like a NATO would fix the problem.
I think swapping onto a NATO strap will reduce the shock resistance of a G-Shock somewhat.
@paulkleinkramer5065 maybe? But the core part of the watch is so strong on its own. I've dropped way too many gshocks while changing straps that I'm convinced you could use a gshock without the strap as a baseball and it would be fine :)
2 things which works for me:
- not too tight band
- wash the watch in warm days / sweat in light dishwasher liquid soap in the sink after wear.
My problem is that with my 65 year old eyes, is I can’t read the sub dials any more, I can’t walk around with magnifine glass in my pocket…
Jays & Kays for my main G-Shocks - wearing Uncle Seiko rubber straps.
Be proud of who you have become the content you produce and ignore the negatives
That’s one of the main problems with the G-Shocks ⌚️ is it would be nice to have a OEM matching nylon NATO 🇺🇳 strap on it and have it look good at the same time.
I've swapped out all my G-Shock straps for nylon NATO military style straps. I can't stand the feel of the resin straps.
That G-shock list had been one of the reasons I started getting em. I’m not ashamed of it either…
Wear NATO straps, perfect in summer heat.
Yep, wore that strap once and never again. Went immediately to Barton and got the lug adapters for a Nato. Love it.
Have you tried putting antiperspirant on your wrist before wearing? It not only helps with the sweat but provides a barrier between skin and band.
I live in Florida and I agree on the heat rash with plastic or silicone bands. I prefer a metal bracelet since I’m always in the water.
Dude, I put a black perferated rally leather strap with red stirching on my 5610u (just got some 22 mm adapters)
*given. It was *given.
My only problem with resin straps, any brand for the matter that is a rubber material is I sweat really bad under the strap and it gets gunky and smelly fairly quick and I have to wash my wrist and even the watch in the sink through the day if it’s warm out
Sissy boy....LOL. Hilarious video Jory! Viva la G-Shock!
You also need to clean the band. I do it with some soap and a toothbrush to get the gunk out in the tiny crevices
I live in India, I get this prickly heat every time I wear the watch.
I get heat rashes also. I wear my G-Shock during the day at work. But I take it off once I get home
at this point I have switched from G shocks at the gym and outdoor activities to citizen watches.
You don't want to hear our cures for heat rash.
- US ARMY
You'd think all that hair would act as a barrier.
I think that many of the G-Shock WCCS special editions come with silicon straps and many of them look really cool.
Your a lefty I have my watch on my right hand as I'm a lefty myself. Not a lot ov us out there 👊🤟
Same issue... I stampede on through the rashes and the flames.
Jays and Kay's adapter is what I did to help with this.... yes I also get heat rashes.
Will Nato straps work with G-Shocks?
That “soft hands” drop got me. 😂😂 Great video as always.
206K Subscribers 😮👍👍👍! Congrats Jory. You da man.
What a big headline for a video that only tells us that you've got an allergy and can't wear G-Shocks with a resin strap. Don't you have anything better to do?
Honestly? Not really.
Dude! You can buy spring bar adapters that let you wear a NATO or crocodile or whatever. The bands on the cheap Gs do kinda suck.
IMHO in 2023 every G-Shock should be like ga-2000 with normal lugs and springbars. That give freedom of choice for every occasion.
I've been lucky with G-Shock bands but not so lucky with Garmin bands. I feel your pain/itch.
I saw the title and thought "again about allergies?". Heard the sentence "at least until summer ends" - oh yes, it's about his allergies again :-D
That sucks, man.
