Perform a head-to-head comparison against each other, e.g. track for track (that's your forte) plus features wise, and your summary impressions, then giving us a video within 10-15min. Your fans will love you for it. I suspect only a marginal difference in sound reproduction. The rest is features wise.
How does the DO100 Pro compare to the original DO200? Is it worth it to switch to the DO100 Pro for its eARC input or would it be a downgrade in sound quality?
You're right the SMSL SUX is much more detailed, but I guess at 5x the price it better be. I just found this DO100 not very detailed, it's ok, but just. (my opinion) Thank You for the review.
@@Tharbamar I went ahead and upgraded the SU-1 to the Do100Pro the improvements across the board are well worth it. A syou said clarity and Depth. Also, wider sound stage , lower floor and instrument seperation. Thanks for introducing this DAC.
Thanks for the review! I bought one of these to connect my TV (Sony A80L) to my vintage Yamaha receiver through HDMI ARC, but I'm having a particular issue with the ARC volume control. I was hoping that with the ARC connection, I could control the volume of the system using just my TV remote, but I've noticed that every time I turn off the DAC and turn it back on, the TV always defaults to volume of 100. In your experience with ARC, can you actually control the volume of the DAC using the TV remote, or do you need to use the DAC's remote? I'm not sure if it's a problem of communication with my TV, or if it's just normal behavior for this unit.
Could you recommend FL and PL settings for neutral sound? Could i get less bass from this DO100 Pro? Wiim has EQ and Presets with Reduce or Boost Bass etc.

DO100Pro have any switch/setting to change between fixed and variable output. (So that I could use as Standalone DAC, control the volume from my Pre Amp?). Thank you for your guidance.
Hi, RCA or XLR from DO100 Pro to your Pre, you can use gain control set to max for fixed output but It's been awhile I don't remember detail setting, thank you.
Technically much better in like Balanced design, precision clock, dual chip, gain control. Sound is more transparent but as always rest is personal preference and system dependent.

For the highest possible audio quality (least noise, distortion) what is the best setting for gain control ? I have been setting mine to 90-95. Would 100 be ideal ? The DAC feeds to an Onkyo receiver.
The fact is there are two main factor for sound quality , transient reproduction for précision and natural ( no flat sounding or "compressed" ) , and rendering "quality" of sound to avoid having harshness or having coloration with "warm" sounding reproduction. To me rating the quality using bass / midrange / treble on 5 stars rating is a bit ineffective. I don't contest the fact that this product is very affordable DAC but not sure quality sound is badass , I tried SMSL AO300 amp that you reviewed 6 months ago with 5 stars for every criteria and didn't found it was good audio quality reproduction @@Tharbamar
@@silkhead44 finally received it today. It's a heavy unit and didn't expect that. Just compared sound to the SU-1 and it's very noticeable upgrade in sound streaming from WIIM mini. I'm loving it and think it's going to be perfect to jump to the next level - balanced with mono block amps.
Question about hdmi arc. Smsl turning on automaticly with tv? Volume can be changed from tv pilot in full option? IF i using coax connection and i turn on tv signal will be automticly changed to arc?
@@andrewcastro2530 Absolutely not. I was bitterly disappointed to find out you cannot. The HDMI is ARC only. You need another device called a de embedder ($100 eBay) to send DSD as DoP (DSD over PCM) to the DAC.
No Sir, I wasn't confused just miss read but still very different DAC, 9039Q2M single chip and dual 9039Q2M chip balanced DAC with precision clock is technically very different.

Based on the sound sample it has an enjoyable sound signature! I find lots of more expensive DACs harder to listen.

ARC is only for DAC, I do not use TV remote or DAC remote in my setup only RC from amp. Thanks

Hi, does smsl Do100 pro does have autosensing input like the wiim amp, which automatically switch to the input that currently receiving signal?

Maximum amount is best option which bypasses internal volume control.

DO100 Pro is more transparent than SU-1 but SU-9 Pro is distance memory.

It will not control the volume on wake.
This takes away all the benefits of hdmi. Why would they do this?

Yes it has gain control.
if i have no balanced outputs or inputs, is it still worth considering over the SU1
