@9:36 great conversation - fingers crossed for that giant BRICK O' KRAZY KAT DAILIES someday - toes crossed that I will have the $ to buy it if it ever happens
As a depressive art school student I spent a weekend with heavily annotated “Moby Dick” by way of removal from school environment. Next weekend was real discovery of Geo.Herriman’s world -& Pow! …makes me heppy still. The writing is full of alliteration and drawing consistent yet loose. A simple sign for,”Frijoles!”, or, “Baile esta noche!”, reminds us of a fine, multicultural place. I now do stamp art for Coconino Post … of the mind. My mentors in early recorded music are far away or passed …Citizen Kafka… You fellows are filling in. Thank you.
Not new to you by name, Noah, but only discovered your channel here today - and this conversation had to be listened to first. Delighted with the whole thing. Thanks to both you and Michael.

Just listened to this for a second time!
Thank you for posting this. I love Krazy Kat and Herriman AND Tad Dorgan.
@42:11 Is that home movie of Herriman available anywhere on line? If not, I hope Michael Tisserand would be willing to remedy that!
Truely an interesting and enjoyable conversation.
I was hoping that Michael might say something/anything about Herriman and the 1918 flue epidemic because there's nothing in the book.
There was a banana blight in the early 20's and they for a time were scarce.
Would love to see a Tad Dorgan biography.
good luck. I want to see a Carl Anderson biography.
