I bet most of us would love to go through all analog gear, but as you said, its a journey. Tips from a pro about how we can best work with what we've got while slowly growing gear is always welcome. Really liked the thorough explanations of how you would/do use everything and audio examples. Tired of seeing reviews from others that just graze a few of the options in a single example and leave me with more questions than answers.
Get your bag man, you're basically teaching a lesson, pulling back the curtain a bit, and you deserve to be compensated for it!
That’s why I hate reviews. Honestly sat on this one for a VERY LONG time. Knowing I’d get raked. I kept showing it to buddies. That’s when I decided I would do the video. I genuinely use it. I tried to show how I use it. Not sure if that makes a good “review” but here we are.

My mixing engineer is very good friends with Howie Weinberg (perhaps the most prolific mastering engineer of all-time)… who was nice enough to just give us his mastering chain. He has an all-analog mastering chain and an all in-the-box chain. This is almost exactly what his ITB chain is. And many times he will do 2 masters, one is all-analog and one is all ITB. He says the clients almost always pick the ITB version.

Love your videos, and I use more analog than plugins, but seeing Eighth Day Sound take a Neve 5088 on a world tour speaks volumes. Yes, it weighs like 800 lbs, but wow does it sound wonderful. I for one was extremely upset when Geddy Lee’s tech finally convinced him to leave his Oberheims at home. Sure, they require lots of warm up time and are out of tune, and whatever.
I know. And there is definitely a place for outboard. And I still get very excited about it.
