Chonny's loaded. Probably not the best person to ask lol. For me I spent ¥60k-70k (about $1k AUD) in my 2 weeks in Tokyo. You can definitely go by with less no problem but you can also easily spend more if you want to splurge.
I recommend bringing at least $2.5k that is close to 190,000 yen for two weeks. You should factor in transportation. $1,000 AUD is ridiculously low for expenses.
