I've had this in my library since a mate suggested it to me, but I never cracked it open for the same reason... it just never pulled my interest. Seeing a bit more of what the game is actually like gives me that interest. Thanks again amphibian juice!
The coin economy and the planning/defending gameplay loop remind me a lot of the Kingdom series of games. Tbh this whole game seems like an isometric reimagining of Kingdom, which is one of my favorite strategy games so I might as well try this one out.
It's an interesting game. I make it too hard for myself by always wanting to get multiple quests in any given level, especially when playing for the first tine, and currently I'm struggling on the one which wants you to use lightning with open fields - as I pick too many negative mutators for myself and then lose a lot of econ in the first rounds The critique I would have for this game, if it can be called that, is that there are a few options which are just universally bad. The builder's guild as an example, upgrading one house to tier two every day - effectively just a coin or two per day extra you get. Otherwise, the traits you select at the start, no matter what they're buffing ornwhat the mutators are debuffing, are honestly allowing for a lot of variety and strategy depending on what you'll have to face, although sadly after the levels are played through there is only the endless mode, so of course it's not like something like against the storm where you'll always have skmething to do. But then again, it is a relatively cheap game, and it should be ok to not be infinite
At 5.23 one of the yellow enemies explodes into red rays, it looks like a red version of what happens to your character at 5.54. Was that a special enemy, do they level up?
this worryingly looks like its a 3d rip off of the 2d game Kingcom by Noio Licorice and publisher Raw Fury, right down to being a king on a horse, dropping coins to upgrade structures, and all the sprites. Its a direct rip off
@@Chase_Crawford if they had the same logo or UI kit then there would definitely be a conversation between legal teams. The king is a 3d rendition of Kindom's king down to the clothes, the coin pickup, time delay between pickup and slot into overhead slot is too similar to be accidental too. At some point something stops being an homage and starts ripping off IP. If I made a game starring commander shepard, captain of a ship that looks exactly like the normandy, with an N7 badge on my armor- with the same crew but this time in 2d- and sold it, I'd probably end up hearing from a legal team too.
Quick correction: only one of the two people who made Thronefall worked on Superflight. The other guy made his own game solo, Will You Snail.
goootcha

the idea didn't appeal to me but it's a lot more compelling than i thought

Never played that one. I think I have the first one.
It's just Kingdom in isometric perspective.
Absolutely fell in love with the demo during a next fest, so happy to hear it's at 1.0! Going to have to go check it out :)

The game is more influenced by Little King's Story and Pikmin, combined with a few other genres.

There are "elite" variants. If you've played Risk of Rain 2 it's like that.

its obviously inspired by it but how tf is it a ripoff when the artstyle is completely different and the gameplay is massively different too?
I guess call of duty and battlefield ripped each off right? And Chevy ripped off Ford? And apple ripped off android?
