I think this role made a star out of Lemmon. To this day, I think about this scene when I think of Lemmon. RIP. Thank god he was not stuck in Don Knotts roles the rest of his career.

And you know that Frank went back to the States after the war ended and married a working girl.
Cagney did a masterful job as the captain everybody loved to hate.

My opinion, SLIH is the funniest American movie ever made. Lemmon and Brown (Osgood) absolutely stole the show but it's great all around.
