Syro Malabar Catholic Church in India and Chaldean Catholic Church in Iraq are only two Eastern Catholic churches in Catholic Church which uses East Syriac Liturgy. We also have a archdiocese of Assyrian Church of East in India based in Kerala. Indian Christians in Kerala also called as Marthoma Nazranis or St Thomas Christians until arrival of Portuguese in 1491 used East Syriac as liturgical language. Portuguese tried to latinize us, although a small community joined latin Church, majority remained faithful to faith of their forefathers. Later, few members joined Syriac Orthodox Church which Church uses West Syriac Liturgy. Today we have three rites in Catholic Church in India, Syro Malabar Church using East Syriac rite, Syro Malankara Church using West Syriac Rite and Latin Catholic or Roman Catholics using Latin Rite. India Today has second Largest Christian Population in Asia after Phillipines.

@@danieljoseph4745 Sort of. The Syro-Malabar Church has celibate priesthood but Syro-Chaldeans have married priests. The spirituality of the Syro-Malabar Church is highly latinised and has a strong Charismatic flavour. Liturgy in some dioceses are highly influenced by the post Vatican second 'Novus Ordo" experiment of the Latin Church. Unlike the Chaldeans the Syro-Malabars in the last 50 to 60 years have nearly forgotten the East Syriac language. There are restoration efforts now taking place in certain quarters inside the Syro-Malabar Church of its east Syriac liturgy (in its fullness) and preservation of the Syriac language.
Though there are Latin and post Vatican second influence( just as the congregation facing priest in the video demonstrates) in the Chaldean Church, I dont think they are as pronounced as in the Syro-Malabar Church

@@dovrose5155 Here is a brief history:
The church was a group of St Thomas Christians without strict hierarchy or leadership apart from the Apostle Thomas(just like the early Christian community in the book of Acts), then we came under the leadership of the church of the East when at 250-325AD Bishops Mar David and Mar Yohannan became metropolitan of India. This carried on, and there was a division within the church of the East in 1553 and the Chaldean Catholic Bishop Shimun VIII Yohannan Sulaqa united the church with Rome. The successor of this bishop, Abdisho IV Maron, sends Mar Joseph Sulaqa in 1555 as the bishop of all St Thomas Christians in Kerela. Bsp. Abdisho also sends Bsp. Abraham of Angamaly(1564) for the St Thomas Christians of India.
By this stage, the St Thomas Christians are led by Chaldean Catholic Bishops of the Church of the East, who are in full communion with the church in Rome. The St Thomas Christians are all identified by being:1)East Syriac in liturgy and 2)Under the guidance Chaldean Catholic bishops in communion with Rome.
After this comes the troubles of the Latins meddling with the church and causing the Synod of Diamper. Some St Thomas Christians resisted the Latin rule, which is commendable, but they decided to start a new church by coming into communion with the Syriac Orthodox (West Syriac church) adopting a new Liturgy and new guidance. This is then fractured several times by infighting and evangelization by Protestant sects.
The other St Thomas Christians, stay under Latin Rule and have their East Syriac Liturgy Latinised. However, they slowly remove Latinisation from their church and now have the full support of Rome in restoring what was modified. Additionally, the Malankara Catholic church returns into communion with Rome. The Anaphora of Mar Addai and Mar Mari is still said at every Qurbana, the Anaphora of Mar Nestorius is allowed, and the Latin church realises it's mistake and helps the St Thomas Christians to undo the damage caused by the synod of Diamper. I am part of the choir that sing the ancient East Syriac hymns of "Lakhu Mara" and "Qadisha Alaha" in our Qurbana. The Syro Malabar Church and the Chaldean Catholic church keep their East Syriac liturgy, strengthening each other to restore any lost practices, and keep their connection as part of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

Good old days for these liars has caused the church there grow just by giving birth within. They used church on weekdays to sell slaves.
After the Portuguese came they learned to be evangelical and understood their real mission entrusted by st. Thomas and Christ.
Now murmuring against the jesuits of which pope is one.
      Shame on the shameless.
When they fight they will go to the Latin church as last refuge.
      After mass, latins stinks.
Fight each other for facing and not facing altar, then shamelessly go to nearby Latin rite church.
There they do not care priest facing people.

Syriac is the opposite of Chinese which uses one (script?) set of characters for vastly different spoken languages like Mandarin, Hokkien, Hakka, Taiwanese, Cantonese , etc. In Syriac, the same spoken language has many different scripts, the oldest known one being called Estrangela.
This priest is originally from the Syro-Malabar Church based in Keralam , India which followed East Syriac as it's liturgical language using the liturgy of Mar Addai and Mar Mari till 1962 when the language changed to Malayalam. He is serving the Chaldean Catholic Church which uses the same liturgy. The Indian one is modified over the centuries by Portuguese and Indian nationalists but essentially still the same. The sounds are very similar and the grammar is the same as West Syriac but the alphabet is different. East Syriac uses Madnaya script and West Syriac uses Serto script.
The East Syriac Rite or East Syrian Rite, also called the Edessan Rite, Assyrian Rite, Persian Rite, Chaldean Rite, Nestorian Rite, Babylonian Rite or Syro-Oriental Rite, is an Eastern Christian liturgical rite that employs the Divine Liturgy of Saints Addai and Mari and the East Syriac dialect as its liturgical language. It is one of two main liturgical rites of Syriac Christianity, the other being the West Syriac Rite (Syro-Antiochene Rite).
The West Syriac Rite, also called the Syro-Antiochian Rite and the West Syrian Rite, is an Eastern Christian liturgical rite that employs the Divine Liturgy of Saint James in the West Syriac dialect. It is practised in the Maronite Church, the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Syriac Catholic Church and various Malankara Churches of India (see the section on usage below). It is one of two main liturgical rites of Syriac Christianity.

Assyrians are a group of Aramaic-speaking people indigenous to Iraq and Syria. They were the original Mesopotamians. Much later, the Greeks conquered the region until the Arab muslims kicked them out. Assyrians had their own Church tradition. They were evangelized by St. Addai and Mari who were disciples of St. Thadeus. The Assyrian Church originally had the Orthodox faith. However, many of them they were under Persian control and not under the Roman Empire. It is for this reason that the heresy of Nestorius took roots. The Assyrian Church, isolated from the Orthodox communities, gradually accepted Nestorianism. Much later, a group of them returned to Orthodox Christology but by the means of the Papacy in Rome. Many Western costums and practices were adopted. They are now known as "Chaldeans", which is merely another name for the Assyrian people. Most Assyrians are Catholic (about 70%) and the rest of them are Nestorians.

I had some roman Catholics telling me Jesus is not god he's just son of God well from my understanding from bible and my church and middle eastern church's we all believe that Jesus is god
That's why we use this ܝܗܼ̈ܿ in our church flag

@Younan Yaqoob don't dare and call us nestorians that ain't cool at allllll
We do not like to be called that and that's not a church that was a person that Catholics had issues with so they called my church nestorians but our church's name is and was church of the East
And I do but like what my church and what Syriac orthodox and what chaldean Catholic taught you Indian's
Syrian Syriac Surat surath aramiac all these things that I have seen used by Christians Indian's that my church did not tell you about the truth what these means and where did they came from
Nestorian is not a church he was a person and it's a long history behind it full of hate
