Ello Lucy and Juliemum!! Welllll! Where to begin? ..here I suppose!!😆. 1. To this very day, I , as a Lifelong Yank DO NOT understand the gaps in US bathrooms either! I don;'t know WHAT the Manufacturers are thinking when they design those doors and the seemingly mandatory gaps!! . 2. Keep in mind, according to research done by your Fellow Brit Laurence Brown, the term "SOCCER" was INVENTED in the UK, but that name was never adopted...so Football it became! ...until the logical decision comes along to make it finally change to Soccer! 😅 Oh, coincidentally Laurence added that the metal which Y'all commonly call AlumiN-I-U-M was originally called plain Old "Aluminum", but the British Scientific Community at that time adopted the former spelling instead!! Well, i wish to ask you two a question! Are you planning on applying for US Citizenship anytime soon? If I'm not mistaken you both have been here more than legally long enough AND have been well behaving yourselves like Right Proper English Ladies, so it seems to me your path to citizenship is just a matter of some preparations and paperwork. About 2 Years ago, in I believe December of 2022 Laurence Brown became a US citizen (While still retraining has Brit Citizenship) AND another UA-camr ......a girl named FELCIA HOFNER, who hails from Germany and has her own popular UA-cam Channel "Feli From Germany"... ALSO just became a US citizen in this last Decembe of 2024r! ...just a few weeks age...SO LADIES...It's time to Take the Plunge!!!😉 It doesn't seem that difficult to make happen and is painless!... and then you can become Yank-Brits (or Britamericans if you refer!😂) .....and with that you can the LEGALLY say thing's like Y'all, Howdy, and Whussup? ..without fearing having to pay a small fine for impersonating a Yank! Just give it a thought ladies!! I would LOVE to refer to you as my Fellow Americans someday!!!! Enjoy your upcoming week ladies! (P.S!...enjoy the warmth of AZ...an overnight low temp here in Michigan this week will be 14 F!)
Howdy Mark! 🤠 First of all, thank you for your fun message - we have only just seen it. We're not sure whether UA-cam held it back initially, for some reason. Bah! 😡 We knew about the history of the name 'Soccer' but not about 'Aluminum'. Very interesting. Btw, we're recording some reaction videos to Lost in the Pond. These will go out soon. I only recently received my US Citizenship (just before Christmas!) My family came along to watch the ceremony. We all felt quite emotional and very proud. Mum has been a citizen since 2016. We went to her ceremony too. You can now refer to us both as your fellow Americans, and vice versa! Stay warm Y'all! ❤️
@@The_Brit_Girls OH LUCY..CONGRATULATIONS on being an OFFICIAL YANK! You really should announce that to your Followers!!. Laurence did last year and a German girl with the channel "FELI From GERMANY" did so recently. Too bad you don't live in Texas..then you'd be a bonafide "BRITEXAN":!! Then you could enjoy Tea, Crumpets and BBQ!...all on the same table!! Congrats again!!😊👍💖
Best comment was when Julie said "Americans won't say the word toilet, but they will look at someone going to the toilet through the gap in the public toilet door"!
This is a great video. I was told to say the lavatory for the "toilet" at school when I was growing up in the 70s here in Oregon. The teachers would just get in a tizzy if we said bathroom, nooo its lavatory. Now I say restroom. LOL 😁My Grandparents all said half past or quarter tell and so when someone says this I get it. They are from the 1910-20s. Older people tend to say half past etc.. The thing they did was say half past but not the hour and I would say half past what? LOL! Love your videos gals. Have a wonderful week!
I would imagine if an American went to Britain they would probably think the same way about many things...as for me I understand what you are saying and this is what makes the world go round...how different we all are...I love you ladies and can't wait to come to Arizona again and sit with you...you don't have to say nice things to me, you can be sarcastic right away....I am sarcastic myself! I think we would get along quite well🤣🥰😘 Big hugs ladies !😍 Love you both!
Hi Donna, we are so glad you're safe. Such an awful tragedy for many others. There are so many terribly shocking and sad stories. Our hearts go out to all those who have suffered loss. Thanks for all of your comments, in the chat and above. We totally agree - the list would probably be a lot longer the other way around! We should really do it from the other perspective. We can't wait to meet you and have "a bit of a banter" 😍🤣🥰 Love and hugs from us both 😘😘
Saying 1/2 past is more of an older generation thing. I think of my grandmother. My old roommate was from Australia and she used to get dirty looks when she would say “toilet”. You’re right about Football. All other countries call it that.
Hello Julie and Lucy, sorry missed your premiere we were out with family, loved this video, love all the differences, you both made us laugh about the toilets and the air conditioning, have a lovely week, take care x Julie and Tony x
No worries, Julie and Tony! It's so hard to fit everything in when you become a busy UA-camr, isn't it? Thanks for your kind words and best wishes for a lovely week ahead xx
@ yes it is hard, I try so hard to keep up but it can become a little stressful and you feel awful if you miss someone’s premiere. But we also have lives too don’t we julie it’s very difficult x 💖
You had me laughing right from the word go. I had an American friend while living in New Zealand. She and I played 10-pin bowling together. We needed a name for the club nights. Yep we called ourselves " Going Potty!" as that was the term she used - yes she did! No-one knew where it came from and thought we meant Going Potty=Going Nuts= Losing the plot! 🤣🤣Dara's scones are FABULOUS! I've tried them. Love that mug!!! I agree about the dates thing! I order my drinks - No ice please!! Not because I think I'm being done out of drinks but I don't want it watered down. I get the 'where are you from' thing. Amsterdam ISN'T the country but a city!! And New Zealand isn't in Australia 🤣🤣! Fabulous 10 pointers. Well done on another awesome video. 🩷🇳🇱🙋♀🥝
Ooh, I loved reading your message, Anita! 😍😍 Great story about "Going Potty!" 🤣🤣 Oh my, that's incredible that some think Amsterdam is a city and that New Zealand is Australia! Did they fall asleep during geography lessons at school?? 😂 That's a great recommendation for Dara's scones! Thanks so much for your kind words. We hope you are having a lovely week ❤️🌹
4:32 The scone showing has more of a shape like what we would call a biscuit. But then I guess in England a biscuit is more like a cookie, like a shortbread type.
Nice. We support Norwich City, our local team. I've always supported Arsenal since childhood. Many thanks for all your interesting comments. We hope you're having a great week!
Ladies, I agree with you on almost everything you have said in this video. It is funny how things change over the years and what things are called. I love British humor, it's dry and so funny! I grew up watching Monty phythons flying circus and corniation street, pubs are the best! You are not Aussie, you have a really different accent. I love saying Loo, but people look at me weird, bathroom if you want to be polite and toilet if your comfortable with who you are with. Thank you so much for the video and I would love to try one of your scones 🥰🥰
Thank you for all your fun comments, Tonja! You made me smile 😊 Hehe, don't be too impatient for the scones, lol! It was lovely to see you at the premiere this morning. Wishing you a great week ahead ❤️
I love this! We say "potty" if we're referring to #2. Which "#2" is even another euphemism 😂 I'm from the South so we have slang, euphemism, and round-about ways for EVERYTHING. Oh, and we hate the gap too....I think it's a money-saving thing. We should team up to start a petition to ban gaps in bathroom stalls.
Hi guys, thanks for your fun response to our video! Hehe, #2. We also say that in the UK! 😂 Over in the States, I've heard "use the bathroom" when it is for that very thing! 😅
The Brit Ladies haha, you two really are gifted...making us laugh as we learn something new.. The diversity makes it fascinating. Great work Ladies...brrrr snow at 20s yesterday..feels like wanting to go back to FL..haha
Totally agree with the extreme air-conditioning comment. When I live in England I always forget that I don't have to bring a cardigan into church or a restaurant on a hot day! Lol
Hi ladies this was brilliant and we agree with all of these! Loved the clip of you attempting Australian accents 😂 so much fun and again I have face ache through smiling the whole way through 😁 have a lovely week ahead x
Julie, I can't wait for you to make bread too! And I love that you forgot when you said the scone comment even though it was only five minutes earlier 😂 ... I can relate!
Lol...awesome as always. Here's an old but a totally crazy one of bastertized American english...why do you park on a driveway and drive on a parkway...lol. I hope everything is going well in Your 2025 so far 💓❤💐💕. Mark Bensette Aux Bois 🇨🇦.
Don't like the sound of that gap in the cubicles and what is a very good question indeed. Brough back memories from my very first job as an apprentice wood cutting machinist. I would pop in to the toilets to wash my hands before break time and the amount of times I was hear "Morning Alan", I would turn around and there was a lad called Billy Whalen, sitting on the loo, trousers around his ankles, reading The Sun and the cubical door wide open - he never shut it! Put me right off my morning tiffin I can tell you. Oh I love a cream tea, not interest in making a scone but eating them that is more like it. I am the same with Google dates and can never understand why you would want the month before the actual day and I always used the 24 hour clock. Even in the UK, I hate being called a Geordie, just because I come from the North of the country but loved your Aussie accents LOL! Cheers Alan
Hi Alan, thanks for sharing the Billy Whalen story! 😱 As a Norfolk broad, I don't think you sound like a Geordie. Glad you enjoyed us murdering the Aussie accent! 😅 As always, I had fun reading your comments. All the best to you and Mrs M 😊👍
Hi Ladies, ha ha, I agree with a lot of what you've talked about. I'm American and I still get confused with the Bi-weekly or Bi-monthly talk. 🤔 Is it twice a week or every two weeks or what 🤣 And the toilet talk was funny! I've also noticed sometimes there's a big gap from the bottom of the door to the floor and I'm wondering if anyone can see me sitting. 🙄 Have you visited the London Bridge yet-I think its in Lake Havasu(?) I saw it in London when I was a teenager. My ancestors came over from England so maybe we're related 😄 I'm a new subscriber- really enjoyed this! 👋
I wonder if the toilet thing is generational and regional, since in Pennsylvania it's common to hear someone say they're going to the toilet. I imagine for you the "are you from London?" thing is as frustrating as the assumption outside of North America that in the US that there's just NYC, LA, and endless Texas in between is for us. We used to have pretty good pubs/bars here years ago, community watering holes where friends met after work to hang out, have a few drinks, shoot the breeze. That's gone by the wayside and most people only go to the bar looking for "fun". I think the history of the three main branches of football (association, rugby, and gridiron) is quite interesting. The first college football game was in 1869, Rutgers vs Princeton. Rutgers won but after that, Princeton won and for decades, Princeton, Harvard, and Yale ruled college football (nowadays the Ivy League is regarded as a has-been conference of Division I). The styles diverged I think in the 1870s, as believe it or not, the first few years, American football was a kicking-based game. Even after touchdowns were added, at first they were just a way to get a free kick (the extra point is the vestigial remain of that).
Hi, thank you so much for your fascinating and insightful comments. What a shame your pub culture has gone by the wayside. I enjoyed reading your recap of the history of the three main branches of football. We hope you're having a great week. All the best ~ Julie & Lucy.
@@The_Brit_Girls There's an old show I grew up with called Cheers that I liked (aired from the early 80s to the early 90s). That'll give a small look at what our pub culture was like back in the day, also the song Piano Man by Billy Joel that I loved as a kid (he talks about all of his friends at the bar, everyone knows everything about each other as they'd been going there for years), it's about Billy Joel's years of performing at the bar he got his start at before making it big.
Yes why is there a gap in the bathroom stalls…I don’t like it at all lol. The pubs we have around here in Niagara are always a great place to hang out and have great food! We don’t say half past in Canada either …we say 10 after or quarter after or 5 30. Ya I agree I don’t like a lot of ice in my drinks it gives me a brain freeze! 😂. Thanks for the interesting and fun video Julie and Lucy. 👍😊🇨🇦
That button thing - why, right? Well done on the scones - still searching for the perfect Oh those dates! Yep when used to deal with UK at work so confusing Run hot is one I had not thought about before Thanks for the fun Cheers🤏
Hmm…here are my responses: 1. Restroom. In American English, "restroom" commonly denotes a facility featuring toilets and sinks designed for use by the public, but "restroom" and "bathroom" are often used interchangeably for any room with a toilet (both in public and in private homes). "Restroom" is considered by some to be slightly more formal or polite. "Bathroom" is quite common in schools. "Comfort station" sometimes refers to a visitor welcome center such as those in national parks. The term restroom derived from the fact that in the early 1900s through to the middle of the century up-scale restaurants, theatres and performing facilities would often have comfortable chairs or sofas located within or in a room directly adjacent to the actual toilet and sink facilities, something which can be seen in some movies of the time period. 2. No Proper Pubs. That is so true. We Americans need pubs but there is no American culture that promotes the pub atmosphere like British pubs do. 3. No Proper Scones. I believe you. I did have the chance to sample tea and scones in an English tea house (Kent) and in Scotland. 4. Calling Football Soccer. True but soccer was first coined by the British in calling football soccer. 5. Sense of Humour/Humor. So true but we evolved culturally with different cultures blended together. We cannot help but be direct most of the time. Unfortunately, American sarcasm is used mostly in a negative way. Other than that, we are mostly boring compared to most British people. 6. Backwards Dates. So true! We Americans need to change this. But the US military does go by the proper dates - Day, Month, and Year. I have been using this since 1975. I also go by the 24 hour clock. 7. Bread. Well, what can I say? Almost all Europeans say this about American bread. 9. So Much Ice in Drinks. So true, but you can request little or no ice in your drinks. I do at most restaurants. 10. Are you from London/Australia? It is very hard for me to understand this because I met a lot of Americans who know better. Oh, Julie, your Norfolk accent is slipping. Stick to your original Scouse accent. That is the proper way to speak English. I’m just kidding. I like the way you speak. Anyway, it was a good video.
Thanks for all your fun and illuminating points, Perry 👍I was interested by your explanation for how the word "restroom" came into being and backward dates. You are correct, we Brits originally called our game "Association Football" and shortened it to Soccer. To us, soccer sounds so old-fashioned. Haha, I don't think you'd want to hear my attempt at a Scouse accent! 😂 We hope you're enjoying your Sunday and send best wishes for a great week ahead.
Such a fun videos, guys! I called toilet paper TP because I'm lazy. It's fewer syllables! Of course in the UK I can say Loo roll which is also only two syllables😂
I agree with you on most of these, especially the overair-conditioning. Why, why, why? When we're in the US during the summer and we go to a restaurant we have to bring a sweater with us. Just ridiculous! As a British-American, I think I am able to look at both countries fairly objectively and I feel like in the US we are more wasteful with resources than we should be.
Oh my lord, i cant tell you how much of my time has been spent trying to explain what "the UK" actually is! I now have an order to my introduction based on their comprehension: Anglesey - Wales - The UK - London 😅😅😅 also you have the old classic stereotypes - Harry Potter, fish and chips and the Queen, always must be discussed 😂😂 you ladies always have your fingers on pulse of the Britis expats mindset, and it eeps us coming back for more ❤🎉
Hi Tom, thanks for sharing your experiences travelling around the world! They're so relatable. Yep, British Royalty is at the top of the list. They often know far more than we do! 😅😅 We appreciate your kind words ❤️
The term "restroom" is a carryover from an earlier time in America. In the late 1890s to the early 20th century many businesses and larger stores had an area (mostly) for women to rest from long working hours or shopping. They could chat there or even take a nap. Then, with the advent of more indoor plumbing these rooms were expanded to include toilets and sinks. So, an American saying this is actually an older term that encompassed maybe one or other of the activities or both. They actually still exist in some older buildings. And, even in some newer ones I've seen seated areas outside more all encompassing toilet areas (i e. full door, sink, and toilet). Alot of Americans prefer this to toilet because toilet seems more visual and less kind of mannerly (especially if at work or out to dinner). There are other variations of what we call it such as Women's or Men's room if away from the home. I like what my mom used to say "she was going to have to go see Miss Jones🚽". 😉 A variation of maybe calling it "the John". Soccer is actually a British term and was called "Association Soccer". Then shortened to "Assocer" by the Brits. Yes that was the abbreviation The Americans shortened this again to differentiate between our football and English football. By the way, we are never going to call it American Football here amongst ourselves. We likely would only do so if speaking to a non American about the sport you kick a ball in. It was a fun video. I especially liked you both trying to do an Aussie accent. I think Brits always seem to get more stirred up by what we would call cultural differences than Americans do. That why we do or say the things we do has some history behind them. Brits included. It's just a different history. At least that's what I've found. Plus, I think Brits keep their etiquette more 24/7 mostly. Whereas we may act one way or eat one way in a more casual setting and in more professional settings or at big events switch to a high etiquette.
Thank you so much for all of your insights, we really appreciate you taking the time to explain these differences! Thanks also for your kind words. It means a lot to us both.
I've worked with so many different people from all over the world -- I've gotten pretty good at telling who is from England vs. Australia vs. South Africa vs. Ireland vs. Scotland. I still think the funniest thing is when an English person does an American accent 😀
I do actually live in London, and one time I was in a queue (Line to them) and was asked if I was from London, to which I replied, yes, they then said, oh do you know so and so? They were not asking about someone famous but a friend of theirs.
I always thought American football 🏈would make more sense to be called "soccer" because there's so much "rock 'em bop 'em sock 'em" with all the tackling going on, whereas soccer ⚽makes more sense to be called football because you use almost exclusively your feet to play.
😅 I don't know what a proper pub would have to be like, to be proper. I can see how writing the dates can be confusing 😕 All that ice in a drink drives me crazy too! Seriously though, it's a funny episode! All solid points, ladies 😊
Yeah, I don't like it when the air conditioning is so cold you feel like you're in the Arctic Circle 🥶 It's so silly to have to dress for winter 🧣 in the summertime because you're in a building lol 😀Car air conditioning can be tricky too -- in the summertime I'm always adjusting it on and off because it gets too cold, then too hot, then too cold again, back and forth.
Totally! We hear you! Thanks so much for all your fun and interesting comments, Werewolf ❤️ We really appreciate your kind support for our channel. Best wishes for a great week ~ Julie & Lucy
At work the men's restroom stalls used to have the gaps on either side of the door. Some guys would put a stretch of toilet paper 🧻over the gap for more privacy. Now, however, they remodeled the restrooms and the doors have no gaps at all which was a surprising feature. I just figure, who is really going to put in the effort to look through the gap, and if they do, well, let them look. I kind of prefer a gap because at least then you can get a sense of whether or not the stall is occupied. Without it you have to try to peak under the stall for feet or try opening the door to see if it is locked or not -- that seems a worse invasion than the gap, lol 😀I always say "restroom" for public and "bathroom" for at home. I never say "TP" but always toilet paper 🚽🧻
I generally don't like ice 🧊in drinks. I prefer water to be room temperature and soft drinks to otherwise be cold on their own without ice. I do have these ice ball and jumbo ice cube molds though -- those are better because they will chill a drink but not melt so fast thus watering down the taste...those are good for alcoholic drinks 🍹🥃. I also have a stamper to put geometric designs into the jumbo ice cubes.
Hey there gorgeous ones Lol what about water closet! 😂 We say the good old loo or dunny here! I actually always worry about that door gap too! I hate using public toilets. You realise how many dirty sods there are! Incomprehensible! Omg that pic of Lily and Layla is divine, I’d love one like that of Jersey and Hadley.. Gotta have a pub! Nothing like a cheap pub meal too, with a beer! I’m not into fancy schmancy!! Lol I’m quite s#!+ at pop quizzes too! 😅 My nan used to love herself a good scone! I get annoyed with footy being called soccer too! 😅 A spades a spade call it what it is my sunshine’s! That’s funny as my American friends are total stirrers, I could never reign it in.. They’d not like me, those sorts! 😂 Flattery gets you everywhere, especially if it’s genuine! It’s hard to find people with personality and a good sense of humour these days. Too many politically correct! I can’t get my head around the date thing either! That’s funny, no fortnight. What about “yesterday night” 😂 Oooh I wouldn’t like sweet bread either! I’m not a big bread eater, but love a good bread roll with soup or something. Lol I always order extra ice in summer! I pretty much tell those OS, I live in Sydney.. But I actually live an hour south of Sydney. Ha ha love the Aussie accents.. You girls are so awesome, I really enjoyed this one! You are both beautifully entertaining, keep spreading sparkles of light everywhere you go! ❤️💜💕🌸✨
Hi gorgeous girl, thank you so much for your brilliant reactions to the points raised in our video! 😍 "Dunny!" is such a fun Aussie word 😂 and apologies for butchering the accent 😳🫢 The lovely framed photo of the poodles was our Christmas gift from Layla & Lily 🐾❤️ It was lovely to see you'd posted a new video. Woo hoo! I always look forward to those. Have a wonderful week. Best wishes from us both 💕🌸❤️🌹
😂😂 Washroom for me. Yes pubs are too loud. I don't care for scones, but Football is 🏈 Football. 😂 😅 Yes dates are backwards for me because I am latin. Try sourdough bred😅😅😅. Oh I do love ice, but my hubby takes non 😅😅😅😅. Oh yesssss I love my a/c but not too cold. This was funny and wonderful.
Oh yes, great point! Thanks for that. We are always dismayed when paying for an item at how much more the true cost is when the tax is added. Many thanks for watching, Des and have a great week ahead 😊
Ha ha I always got so what part of London are you from? That's where my sarcasm came in which I wouldn't rein in. Oh just a small suburb called Manchester! Tho on the odd occasion I got asked whereabouts in Scotland are you from. The gaps in the bog doors did kind of make me self conscience. May as well have no door at times! Yes I call it the bog 😂Agreed with you on pretty much every one. I'm not sure what soccer is.
"Oh just a small suburb called Manchester!" 😂 Well, you certainly don't sound Scottish to me! Thanks for all your fun comments, Paul. Have a great week! ❤️
@@The_Brit_Girls These two are the best two reasons not to go. Typical southern faux middle class bitching about nonsense things. Who cares if it's called a restroom, bathroom or shithouse. We all know what it is
From all my time in Arizona, I don't recall visiting or seeing a traditional pub house. In WA state, however, there are many that fit the Irish or English pub style 🍺🍻 Maybe it has to do with the weather -- in western WA state we get weather similar to England.
Just watched your vid, what a lot of fun it was, I'm from the UK and when I have been in the US been asked where I am from, when I tell them from the UK I have been met with blamk stares, so I have to say I'm English, that they have heard of, but if I tell them I live in The Black Country thats another thing entirely!!, Love that you live in Arizona, can I ask where?
Hi Barry, many thanks for sharing your experiences! I'd love to see them try to find The Black Country on a map! 😂 Thanks for your kind words and have a great week ~ Julie & Lucy
Oops missed the live or premier time. I've struggled with bathroom for a room full of toilets , and yes a restaurant lit by TVs not good, I'd like to talk to my neighbour on the table (As long as there's no WiFI because everyone will be on the phone LOL. Maybe why I haven't had a major craving for a scone is because I never had a proper one. Yep Football where you use your hands to throw the ball and catch the ball and rarely use feet to kick the ball , that would be better call soccer or sacker because you try to stop the opponent by sacking him, Football where you are forbidden to use hands makes more sense LOL British comedy definitely my style , love the sarcasm jokes actually we find that from here in Newfoundland to the mainland Canada, it's like everything has to be politically correct and you have to warm them up before you say things lol. biggest problem I have with dates is inconsistent . Again Newfoundland we use half pass, quarter pass and fortnight (although fortnight is being used less LOL) Now I likes a lot of ice in my scotch or whiskey LOL. I'd probably ask what part of England you from LOL, then how far is that from London. I lies me AC too lol. Very entertaining as always my friends enjoy the week.
Er, ladies. Toilet is also a euphemism. As is lavatory. They are both words for washing. If you don't what a euphemism, shithouse is about as close as you can get.
I can relate to that i remember when I used play online games People used to think i'm canadian for some reason maybe because a lot of american and japanese cartoons, maybe who knows 😂😂😂😂
Lived in Florida for couple off years, and completly agree with all your 10 points, Americans are strange bunch off people, although they are friendly!!!
Hi gals, here's a couple of things you could say when greeting Americans. The greetings are very midlands based. Greet an American lady with awroight/warrow chuck Greet an American fella with aw4oight/warrow mucka And one to really slay em could be (disposal of rubbish) chuck that in the miskin. (Miskin being Bin)
Get annoyed by euphemisms for shithouse, really? How many accurate descriptions of the function of that room are there in England? WC, lavatory, toilet, bathroom are all words for a place for washing. "Loo"? Far too vernacular / informal for signage. So I'm not going to bother watching past this point.
Thanks for giving our video a try, Richard. It was meant to be a light-hearted look at what we Brits find a little annoying. As a nation, we find a lot of things annoying that we probably shouldn't. I think it's ingrained in us.
I have taken to watching womens wrestling at the moment ( all for the wrong reasons, of course…)! Well- it’s a change from Hallmark movies, isn’t it Some of these women wrestlers are built like bulls! ( i wouldn’t like to meet them on a dark night..) Of course, there are some very fit ones too! Do you think that my viewing habits should be a cause for a trip to the doctors again?! 😂😂 Uncle Dick.
Calling Football soccer is totally acceptable and there is a very reasonable reason for it. The same reason Ireland, Canada, South Africa and a few other countries also call it Soccer. Look it up, it's fascinating.
I work in engineering for an aerospace company. On all our drawings, since 1968, we would put the date the American way: MM/DD/YY (then YYYY after 2000). However, a couple years ago it was decided by our "Standards" group that we must use the international format from now on: YYYY/MM/DD. I hate it. It used to be I could look at a date and it is instantly known what it is. Now I see YYYY/MM/DD and it hurts my head to decipher it 🗓 Then the lead engineer gets more upset about the date not being in the international format than the quality of the work itself.
That's crazy! It's amazing, isn't it, how difficult it is to figure out when the numbers are switched around. Btw, to my knowledge, we never put the year first in the UK. Perhaps it's the international standard for the industry?
I hear you on the toilet woes! The auto flush toilets are so frustrating and I call it like it is...toilet! Mostly because when I travel overseas people got confused when I asked to use the bathroom. Oh, no, I don't want to bath...or wash. But I will wash my hands after, er... And that gap between stalls...I guess it's the North American version of "mind the gap!" 🫣 Fun conversation.
Lucy and Julie, you’re such sweet and graceful beauties with such adorable accents. 🥹🥹🥹 Now I’m really hungry for chicken nuggets, and wanting to watch CBS/Procter & Gamble soap operas. 🤗🤗🤗😋😋😋 Never give on trying to do the best voices you can do, like I did, cuz I have a top secret on how I perfect the voices, but a good voice artist never reveals his secret.
We appreciate the kind words about our accents and our voices! No, you shouldn't reveal your secret 🤫Sounds like you've got a lovely lunch and afternoon planned 🤗🤗😋😋 Thanks so much for being at our premiere this morning ❤️ You are very kind.
Thanks so much for watching our video! 🙏🙏 If you enjoyed it please give it like 👍 leave us a comment 💬 and subscribe to our channel 🔔 We really appreciate your kind support ❤

Good one ☝️
Howdy Mark! 🤠 First of all, thank you for your fun message - we have only just seen it. We're not sure whether UA-cam held it back initially, for some reason. Bah! 😡
We knew about the history of the name 'Soccer' but not about 'Aluminum'.
I can't wait for you to make scones using my recipe! Thanks for the shout out!❤
You are so welcome! Thanks for the recipe!
They really ARE excellent. 🩷
Best comment was when Julie said "Americans won't say the word toilet, but they will look at someone going to the toilet through the gap in the public toilet door"!
👍😂
Fantastic video 😊😊 super 😊
Awesome content loved the show 😄
Awesome, thank you! We loved reading your comments in the chat. Have a great Sunday and week ahead 😊❤️
Haha, we love your stories! 😍 Thanks for sharing! ❤️ Have a great week! 🤗
Thankyou!
I see I got a PURPLE heart!
Was that a medal of bravery or was it a1970’s drug?!!
😂😂
Haha, you are funny, Uncle Dicky! 😂
Thankyou! I think I am funny, but I could be deluded!!
We can't wait to meet you and have "a bit of a banter" 😍🤣🥰 Love and hugs from us both 😘😘
@@The_Brit_Girls 🥰
Saying 1/2 past is more of an older generation thing. I think of my grandmother. My old roommate was from Australia and she used to get dirty looks when she would say “toilet”. You’re right about Football. All other countries call it that.
Oh dear, better stop say half past then! 😂 Thanks for your fun feedback, Kelly and have a great week!
@ You have a great week too!
Woof I am here watching your pawmazing premiere besties Julie and Lucy ❤ we adore you ❤love from Hendo and Rita
Aw, thank you, besties! ❤️ Love the pun, hehe! 😍 Have a great week! 🌟❄️❤️
4:32 The scone showing has more of a shape like what we would call a biscuit. But then I guess in England a biscuit is more like a cookie, like a shortbread type.
Yes, your biscuits are closer to our scones than your scones are! 😂 That's correct, our biscuits are like your cookies! 😀
5:04 big fan of Urawa Reds in Japanese football.

No worries @@The_Brit_Girls
Which "#2" is even another euphemism 😂
I'm from the South so we have slang, euphemism, and round-about ways for EVERYTHING.

Great work Ladies...brrrr snow at 20s yesterday..feels like wanting to go back to FL..haha

Totally agree with the extreme air-conditioning comment. When I live in England I always forget that I don't have to bring a cardigan into church or a restaurant on a hot day! Lol
It's warmer in Arizona in an indoor environment in the winter than it is in the summer! Ridiculous! Bah!

I'm American and I still get confused with the
Bi-weekly or Bi-monthly talk.

What are your dogs sporting?!

We really appreciate you coming along to our premiere today, Perry. Thank you 😊
After almost 64 years of denying it,it now appears that Americans DO understand Sarcasm and Irony, who would have known ?.
Exactly! I think many watch British comedies and are now more aware. Thanks for your comment, Michael 😊
Some people used the word "powder room, WC or comfort room" instead of toilet.
Thanks for the feedback! Good to know. We appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 😊😊
We agree, that those bathroom stalls leave a lot to be desired. 🙈 Thanks for the great feedback! 👍❤️
We move back to England on 5/5/25... I love that the date is written the same way in the US and UK! Lol
Lol, just perfect! 😅
Now that I have a Norwegian daughter-in-law I'm having to try to say things using the 24 hour clock. I always get it wrong! Lol
Good luck with that, lol!
That button thing - why, right?
Well done on the scones - still searching for the perfect
Oh those dates! Yep when used to deal with UK at work so confusing
Run hot is one I had not thought about before
Thanks for the fun

We're glad you found the video fun, cheers! 😄Have a great week! ❤️
American pubs need the cozy wood-burning fireplaces of British pubs.
Yes, that would give the bar a much warmer and cozy ambience 🔥
Hmm…here are my responses:
@@The_Brit_Girls
Yes, we all want to hear your Scouse accent.
Such a fun videos, guys!
I called toilet paper TP because I'm lazy. It's fewer syllables! Of course in the UK I can say Loo roll which is also only two syllables😂
Thanks, Dara! Yep, I can totally appreciate that! 😂
Hi Ian, many thanks for your comment. Yes, it is extremely wasteful and so unnecessary. I hate sitting in a draft.
Hehe, we have attempted an American accent before on the channel ... and each time we completely butchered it! 😳😂
I do actually live in London, and one time I was in a queue (Line to them) and was asked if I was from London, to which I replied, yes, they then said, oh do you know so and so? They were not asking about someone famous but a friend of theirs.
😂Thanks for sharing this with us, Gavin! 👍What a great story!
Australian here - one star from me on your Aussi accents. I've never heard anyone here say any of those things.
Sorry, we didn't mean to offend. I'm surprised you gave us even one star! Many thanks for watching, much appreciated.

Oh my! That would be a nasty shock if you weren't prepared for it! 😱😂 We hope you and Pops are doing well. Best wishes from us both ❤️
I always thought American football 🏈would make more sense to be called "soccer" because there's so much "rock 'em bop 'em sock 'em" with all the tackling going on, whereas soccer ⚽makes more sense to be called football because you use almost exclusively your feet to play.
Soccer comes from England. It was a take off from Association Football and originated in Oxford.
Thanks for your fun comments, Werewolf! 🏈⚽
Yes, you are absolutely right, Ray! We probably should have explained that in the video. Many thanks for your response.
😅 I don't know what a proper pub would have to be like, to be proper. I can see how writing the dates can be confusing 😕 All that ice in a drink drives me crazy too!

Hehe, it's like those frozen drinks you get at the fairground!
Definitely some interesting insights into life in the States, ladies.
Thanks, Andy! Appreciate it! ❤️
Thanks for sharing your restroom experience, it was so interesting 👍😀
Can’t wait!
❤️❤️
Woo hoo! 🥳 Thank you, Richard! 💜
I like the sound of those ice ball and jumbo ice cube molds.
A very interesting video - with a lot of surprises. It makes me wonder what would irritate Americans in Britain. Surely there can't be anything....
Thank you! Hehe, no doubt we'll be reading some of them in the comments! 😅

Hey there gorgeous ones
Lol what about water closet! 😂
We say the good old loo or dunny here!
I actually always worry about that door gap too! I hate using public toilets. You realise how many dirty sods there are! Incomprehensible!

Gotta have a pub! Nothing like a cheap pub meal too, with a beer!
I’m not into fancy schmancy!!
Lol I’m quite s#!+ at pop quizzes too! 😅
My nan used to love herself a good scone!
I get annoyed with footy being called soccer too! 😅
A spades a spade call it what it is my sunshine’s!
That’s funny as my American friends are total stirrers, I could never reign it in.. They’d not like me, those sorts! 😂
Flattery gets you everywhere, especially if it’s genuine!
It’s hard to find people with personality and a good sense of humour these days. Too many politically correct!
I can’t get my head around the date thing either!
That’s funny, no fortnight. What about “yesterday night” 😂
Oooh I wouldn’t like sweet bread either! I’m not a big bread eater, but love a good bread roll with soup or something.
Lol I always order extra ice in summer!
I pretty much tell those OS, I live in Sydney.. But I actually live an hour south of Sydney.
Ha ha love the Aussie accents..

No problem at all, thanks for watching the replay! 😊👍
One irritating thing not mentioned was the confusing price tags and trying to work out the total cost of an item.

There are a number of reasons I wouldn't want to visit the USA. The lack of privacy in public toilets are one of them.
Yes, it's so strange, Peter. Cannot understand it at all. Many thanks for watching.
@@The_Brit_Girls These two are the best two reasons not to go. Typical southern faux middle class bitching about nonsense things. Who cares if it's called a restroom, bathroom or shithouse. We all know what it is
Oh yes- I am so sweet!!
😂😂😇😄💋🍰🍩📃
Indeed, you are! 😉😂😍
From all my time in Arizona, I don't recall visiting or seeing a traditional pub house. In WA state, however, there are many that fit the Irish or English pub style 🍺🍻 Maybe it has to do with the weather -- in western WA state we get weather similar to England.
You’re right, there are not many traditional pubs in our part of Arizona! 🌵 Interesting that there are several in WA state 🍺🍺
Just watched your vid, what a lot of fun it was, I'm from the UK and when I have been in the US been asked where I am from, when I tell them from the UK I have been met with blamk stares, so I have to say I'm English, that they have heard of, but if I tell them I live in The Black Country thats another thing entirely!!, Love that you live in Arizona, can I ask where?
Thanks for your brilliant comments. We love your sense of humour! 😄 Best wishes for a great week ahead ~ Julie & Lucy
Er, ladies. Toilet is also a euphemism. As is lavatory. They are both words for washing. If you don't what a euphemism, shithouse is about as close as you can get.
Of course, that's a great point! 👍😂 Thanks for watching!
Your scones sound appalling!
In Britain, it’s the luck of the draw whether you get decent ones!
🤮🤮
We really miss British scones. Can't wait to have them again on our return to the UK!
I can relate to that i remember when I used play online games People used to think i'm canadian for some reason maybe because a lot of american and japanese cartoons, maybe who knows 😂😂😂😂
Haha, maybe that was the reason! I think there are many similarities between Canada and the UK due to their historical and present connection.
@The_Brit_Girls indeed I think you might be right
Lived in Florida for couple off years, and completly agree with all your 10 points, Americans are strange bunch off people, although they are friendly!!!
Thanks very much for sharing your experience of living in Florida with us. Totally agree, Americans are so lovely and friendly.
Hi gals, here's a couple of things you could say when greeting Americans.
The greetings are very midlands based.
Greet an American lady with awroight/warrow chuck
Greet an American fella with aw4oight/warrow mucka
And one to really slay em could be (disposal of rubbish) chuck that in the miskin. (Miskin being Bin)
Well, that's very useful advice, thank you, Tony! 🤣🤣
Lavatory is the posh way of referring to it...... but l'd rather have time off in Loo 😅😅😅
Hehe, nice one! 👍😆 Thanks for watching!
See you soon 👍 👌 💛
Thanks, Adzey! 🤗❤️
I have taken to watching womens wrestling at the moment ( all for the wrong reasons, of course…)!
Well- it’s a change from Hallmark movies, isn’t it
Some of these women wrestlers are built like bulls! ( i wouldn’t like to meet them on a dark night..)
Of course, there are some very fit ones too!
Do you think that my viewing habits should be a cause for a trip to the doctors again?!
😂😂
Uncle Dick.
Oh my, it's a really big change from the Hallmark movies! 😂 Hehe, probably! 😂
Sweet bread- no thankyou!
I have a bread maker just in case!
Uncle Dick.
❤️
We hear you, Uncle Dicky! 😅
True story 👍
Thanks for your feedback 😀
مرحبا اتمنى لك التوفيق ❤❤
Thank you so much for watching 😊❤️
Do the Americans find you two irritating?
Hehe, probably! 😅 We aim to turn the tables and make a video from an American's perception of the British. It could be a long video! 😂
But you have Trump, Guns & Jesus. That's all you need.
Thanks for the feedback! 😅
🇨🇦👍 millionnaire Paul
Hi Pauline! Thanks for coming over from Paul's channel ❤️ Much appreciated.
You are welcome 🇨🇦👍
Calling Football soccer is totally acceptable and there is a very reasonable reason for it. The same reason Ireland, Canada, South Africa and a few other countries also call it Soccer. Look it up, it's fascinating.
Thank you for pointing that out, it was very interesting. We really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment 😊
Oh my God your voices
Ohh!! I'm assuming you don't mean it in a good way! 😳😂
Actually, it does make sense to put it the proper way - DD/MM/YYYYY. The US military has been doing it for more than 60 years.
Haha, "mind the gap!" 😂 Thanks for your fun feedback, Donna 👍😀
