  • This beautiful seaside village turns into a ghost town during the winter but a wonderful ghost town.
If you are here during the winter time you will see most boats out of the water and in the car park and with the majority of tavernas, bars and hotels closed BUT you will still find a few open in the day and more in the night time.
We love it here, summer or winter

Hi Bernie. Thank you for posting all these amazing videos of Crete. This one is of particular interest as we are thinking of retiring to the Agia Gallini area in a few years time, and whilst there are numerous 'holiday / summer' videos of the town, out of season ones are much rarer, so it is fascinating to see. Please keep up the video posts as both me and my wife love watching them. We cant wait until we return to Crete next summer, especially at the monent as we are enduring sub zero temperatures in wet and windy Lincolnshire. Have a great Christmas... Mark & Amanda.

Thank you so much for your lovely message. Yes, a lot of posts from the summer but not so many during the winter time which is why I continue to do them. I love it here in the winter, it’s a special time. Thank you for watching. Have a great Christmas too 🎄🌞🎄

Visited Agia Galini during lockdown. So sad to see it so quiet having visited 25 years earlier. Crete is a lovely place with lovely people.

So I was there in the winter of 1976 & 77 when the village was full of young travellers. It was quite a lively place then. I visited this year spring 2024 and it was sad to see how it had become just another resort town.

@@gjmarc I would have loved to have seen it then, heard so many great stories. Sadly everything changes, some places more than others. Even the short time I have been here, villages have changed.

@@JustBirnieAdventures Yes agree, saw so many changes on my first return since the '70s. Still love Crete and will be back next year in April.

Great vid, Ms Birnie. I was there early Nov. '23, and loved it. I believe the building at 3:52 was Hotel Rea, closed for many years? I look forward to more winter Crete vids!
