So lovely. Literally brings tears to my eyes.
The altos kick as* with that suspension at 1:54.
I'd love to hear this ensemble try this again but a lot faster. This is beautiful languid sound they give with gorgeous colour and control. But it sounds as if it is the product of a dream and not real life. I'd love to hear the excitement of youth. Arise my love! Something with a sense of urgency ... of desire. To each his own of course. They still get top marks.
That was a stunning performance. I've sung this piece many times myself with the choir at St. Mary Magdalene's, (some of the choristers there sang under Willan himself), and yours is the first choir I've heard that truly captures the heart of this piece. Well done.
THere are dozens of performances here on UA-cam of this brilliant setting of these words from Song of Solomon. But this one outshines them by far. It is a brilliant interpretation, and a most delicate performance. Bravo on a job well-done. I can't wait to hear more from this ensemble. (Have they done anything by Randall Thompson, especially A Peaceable Kingdom!?)
Absolute PERFECTION! Thank You!
Beautiful
Singing this for choir! Hope we do well with it
Thanks so much for your kind words. I'm a member of the ensemble. You can check out our website for other recordings.
Beautiful! The text comes alive. Such warmth and connection to those words. Thank you!
quiet and peacefull.
what an outstanding and beautifully sensitive performance! Top notch- and no surprise really... these ppl are from NL!!
What lovely freshness to match the spirit of this exquisite little piece! And sensual purity.... Am not sure the treble of this particular choir employs such an innocent "little girl" sound throughout all their repertoire, but here it surely worked for me- best of all performances I can find on the internet! (I'll be checking you all out elsewhere.... excited :)
