Standing is banned in all international competitions directly under the control of the IDBF, however it is still done throughout Asia - and to be honest having done both it's much more fun! You should try steering those babies - it's like floating and the boat bobs up and down amazingly! As for max speed - not sure but it would have been an average of 18km/h to get that time so I figure top would be 20+?

You can't stand up on the boats anymore when you paddle right? The Europeans I think complained about it so standing was forbidden.
