    Why don’t they ever talk about how bad LeBron plays defense? Defensively it’s like 5 on 4 when he’s in a half court setting.

    People want back the old school basketball! Defense! Superstars playing 82 games ! Playing Hard! No teaming up that easy! Not being buddies with everyone! Ofcourse Loyalty to the team and city! Not soft rules! Just the traditional old school basketball! 90's style! That's is what the people want to return to watching! American style... not international soft diva basketball.

    Basketball has been the biggest passion of my life. Love the game. It is not the media. Money, greed, and entitlement at all levels of the NBA has ruined the game. I have gone to see 4 games in the last 3 years to see my favorite players… 3 of the 4 the visiting team sat the franchise player with no notice and I wasted my money. Sat for rest, knee soreness, back to back, etc. 100% guaranteed contracts… TV, players and management. style of play is an issue, but I am really tired of the flopping, bitching about every call, faking the intensity of pain so they review calls which delays the game, referees have become too influential in the game. The old saying is true… there is no I in team… but the league is about “I” and not the team and certainly not about the fan. $400-800 for a family to go to a game, and the product isn’t delivering that value. It will correct itself. The fan is making their voice heard.

    They should either make the Corner 3, worth 2 points OR widen the court, so it's a full circle and not have the corner closer than the other spots.

    Byron on JJ was 💯

    • @checkanr138
      @checkanr138 20 днів тому +1

      JJ would be a plumber if he had played in the 60s or 70s because non allstars (he never made the allstar team) would not be able to sustain themselves on nba wage. so he is the first of them all who should be grateful to the guys that had to put in extra work to help the game to become popular. byron scott is spot on - jj reddick should be humble about the guys who came before him and respect them like jordan did, when he said "you can not compare eras" when asked about if he views himself as the best player ever.

      I played a lot of rec bball and as soon as I got good at shooting the 3 I sure shot a lot more and saw it help my teams win games we wouldn't of without those 3s going down. For some reason I don't mind the game. I get why people don't like the style of play these days but they are still the best in the world at what they do

      make 3 points into 4 points and 2 points into 3 points - that will not anymore give you a 50% bonus when shooting the three but only a 25% bonus - that will cut down on everyone and their mom trying to shoot threes.

    It’s going to be difficult to get back because most 4 to 12 guys on a team can’t score other than a 3 pointer.. 10 or 15 years ago most players had midrange or some sort of inside foot work.

    I love Charles, but he has become bitter as he has gotten older and his opinions about the NBA seem wildly subjective. JJ is partially right in that I have stopped watching First Take and Inside because real analysis is being superceded by reactionary opinions. I much prefer the way college basketball is covered by analysts. I don’t want to see analysts crap on my favorite team or player because they are jealous.

    Hey Coach Scott, being a native of Inglewood and alum of Morningside HS. How did you feel, when it was announced that our beloved Morningside was going to be closed. Do you plan to ask them for your retired jersey? Elden Cambells and Lisa Leslie? Love to know your thoughts, next episode?

    22:34 As if that msg wasn't already releyed over & over again to deaf ears. I love these podcasts bc it gives a very in-depth understanding to how they think. Micro example here, but B Scott isn't a very innovative thinker imo, which might give insight to how he was as a coach too. Reason for 4 teams, tourney style, shorter games + less players per team = bigger ownership and accountability, which is prob why they theorize would help elevate the competitive mindset. ie: the 12-15th guy on the team knows they're bench players w/o mins so, why be invested vs a 6-7th person playing meaningful minutes.
    basketball as a game w/ old rules has been optimized. As long as the goal is to beat your opponent, like with any game under a set of rules (board game, card game, etc), there's a strategy that will return the best win change to win. For basketball, it's quantity of 3's at a specific fg %, under the 48min game, to win. change the rules

    Analytics ruining the game is a hot take, I would rather say that the game is too much ruled by suits - meaning business people, instead of people that actually care about fun & sports. Sports always has been a soul thing - the business side is no fun and attracts people that are only in it for the money. The love for the game is the most important thing. If I see the "superstars" (too many players are called superstar right now anyway - but that is another problem) not competing in an ALLSTAR game I want to throw up. This sums up the loss of appeal for me. Too many players are too much bling and no substance. They get too much money way too early and this leads to these dudes to not work as hard anymore and act super-entitled and cocky. I do not mind basketball players to earn a xxxxload of money, but they need to be somewhat humble about it which some do, but I feel a bunch of these players take all that cheddar for granted which in turn makes them seem like complete tools. I am not sure it is fixable at this point - there is so much money in the game that the players will not go back to earn less without a fight. Maybe the money earned should be somehow more tied in to winning games or to stats that make them compete harder or whatever. 3 pointers are a problem - maybe make "normal" baskets 3 points and three pointers into 4 points or something to keep threes from being so efficient.

    The Problem:
    Regular Season NBA doesn't matter. It didn't matter in the 80s, 90s. Or 2000's. The only NBA that matters is THE PLAYOFFS.

      You wish the NBA was like European basketball: ball movement, lack of selfishness, inside out and outside in, coachable players, physical defence, passionate fans, affordable tickets.
      The NBA is corporate, selfish play, boring tactics, with boring stars who only talk about themselves, and only for rich people.

    It’s too many things that is making the nba hard to care about even from die heart fans the fact the warriors team keeps making bad decisions every since they let Poole go and treating curry as if he doesn’t deserve another star there. Zion Kwahi and Ben Simmons are players that just make you not care about the game when you hear they name just so much before you get to the politics makes me not care about the nba as much as i used to

    A lot of the media is to blame. The players not moving is also to blame. Taking too many 3s is to blame, human refs inserting themselves into a NBA game is also to blame. Coaches aren’t getting a fair shot to create their culture, so the organization is also to blame.

  • @devontei7671
    @devontei7671 22 дні тому +1

    I disagree with the ball movement part, I do think there is ball movement, but I do blame the media for highlights showing more 3s too… of course you blame coaches players and management… then yall got to think the nba players don’t want to get hurt as much too…

    • @SportsKingReacts
