also movie 0 was originally a 1 shot so I'm guessing he killed off geto without the intent of using him later on and kenjaku was kind of used to fill that plot hole and make him seeled.

That was actually kinda stupid ngl, killing the special grades at that moment would be the wiser option because they would later on cause significant harm not just to his comrades but to lots of people as well, they were frozen for 5 minutes, gojo couldve easily wiped them all out and deal with the fodder transfigured humans later. But obviously it didnt happen because the story need to progress and the villains need to stay alive to kill off other characters

Geto's 180 is supposed to be jarring, that's the point, also Imo they show his struggle quite well, his frail body due to lack of eating, his reaction to his friends dying and the kids being caged by the villagers, the clapping motif used throughout it all, the only time they tell is with the curse swallowing and getting explaining his mental struggle with the special grade sorcerer with the allotted time they had I feel like they showed it as best as they could
This is actually a pretty solid counter-argument. I do recall Getto saying he didn't want others to bear his struggles. However, I still believe the 180 transformation happened too quickly. We weren't shown any struggles or discontent from Getto the first 5 episodes before the Amanai death (at least as far as I remember).
As I said, I thought his motivations were well thought out. I just had problems with the pacing.
@@gabforrealthat’s the point though, he began to question everything he fought for after Amani’s death and the star religious group celebrating it. He began to see the bad in humanity and began to question what he was fighting for. Haibara’s death really pushed him further along as he realized all that awaited him was the deaths of his comrades all for the sake of normal people. Obviously what pushed him over the edge was those two girls trapped in a cage. Seeing how horribly they were treated by the adults, that’s when he really snapped and completely abandoned his old morals. He came to the conclusion that normal people were not worth fighting for and wanted a world without them so jujutsu sorcerers wouldn’t have to worry about cursed spirits anymore

@edencaraballo1858 I rewatched the episode today, and I may have been wrong about Getto's conversion to the dark side. Usually, when I give a writing take that people disagree with, they'll come at me with "You just don't understand the writing" however you went out of your way and explained everything in a respectful manner and even changed my mind. If you've got any other complaints with my video I'll hear you out.
Ik you already said u changed ur mind but in terms of what u said abt the pacing, the first 4 episodes were also setting up his downfall quite well imo. Like all his talk abt protecting non sorcerers is rly only like half genuine, Geto has savior complex almost as big as gojo's god complex. His ego got shattered by Toji but also really if u think about it he lost to the "weak" non sorcerer cult who paid him to kill Riko. They used their money and political power as leverage to fuck them over & that's what puts cracks in his whole strong/weak worldview. This is why he comes to resent the "weak" that he devoted himself to protecting, enduring the psychological and physical tolls of his technique for them & watching his comrades die for them. His new worldview is still "protecting the weak" -- but now it's the sorcerers he sees as weak. He's still a hero in his own mind trying to save the world from itself.

Fun video that was cool to watch, however i disagree about your opinion on geto's descent into evil. In real life, if very often goes from "0-100", sometimes it only takes the smallest trigger. Besides i like that we dont see geto getting disgusted when eating cursed spirits, it emphasises how he doesnt want people to know what he's going through when eating curded spirits. It shows how selfless he constantly is as he doesnt want people to pity or care too much about him. I also like how we do not see him cry or anything like that, geto is a man amongst men, and as i said earlier he does not want people to know of his struggles. Even while talking to yuki, talking about all his struggles and point of views he did NOT cry. You can interprete it in a lot of different ways, but in any case i believe it was insanely good writting
Sure, I agree with you to an extent, I never said the writing was bad, the motivations were well thought out and explored, and my problem was the fact that his character development went from 0-100 so FAST. A selfless, kind guy to a human killing monster in 15 minutes. Sure, his core values stayed the same, but his entire character made an 180.
For example, if Rudeus from Mushoku Tensei changed from a perverted selfish guy to a selfless hero of the story in an episode, that wouldn't be a satisfying since it'd happen too quickly and not naturally. That's the problem I had with the Getto conversion
@@gabforrealYou'll understand why geto not being geto is good once you either read the manga, or more episodes come out. I know it doesn't make much sense right now, but trust me, it was an amazing decision by Gege, introducing one of the best written characters in the show, that everyone still wants to know more about.
@@gabforreal that's the issue I have with anime nowadays, everything is just so fast-paced, despite sometimes characters developing in some way it all just happens so quickly that it's hard to actually feel for them afterwards. And I assume the main reason for that being the case is that most anime fans watch anime less for the plot and more for the action sequences which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but there just needs to be a balance between both story and action.

kenjaku (the name of fake geto) has the opposite goals of geto. geto wanted to get rid of cursed spirits to make sure that jujutsu sorcerers wouldn't have to die for the weak. how you ask? by killing all non sorcerers since jujutsu sorcerers don't make cursed spirits. kenjaku on the other hand is actively working with cursed spirits against the sorcerers because of motives which without spoiling the manga are still unknown. geto finished his ark and because gojo showed compassion for his best friend even after his crimes and specifically asked for his body to not get disposed of and everyone else paid for his mistake
