  • This is a long bedtime stories for kids collection containing 11 bedtime stories for kids created by Dan Jones (timestamps for each bedtime story below) from his book Sleepy Bedtime Tales (You can find the book in paperback and ebook here: hyperurl.co/hpdv3h). These calming stories for kids were created based on his Sleepy Bedtime Tales approach developed to help children to sleep, during his time working in children's homes with children with ADHD, autism and challenging behaviour, who had also experienced trauma and struggled to feel safe and settle at night and sleep through the night.
(For those who don't know, comments are off on this video because it is a video of children's stories and any video on UA-cam which is designed for children, UA-cam gives the videos certain restrictions, like restricted ads, disabled comments, inability for people to save the video to a playlist etc. It isn't the creator (in this case - me) wanting to have comments turned off or wanting to prevent people adding the video to playlists etc, it is UA-cam's policies around content aimed at children which is supposed to help safeguard children from online risks, data gathering and targeted advertising. To try to help, I have created a playlist of bedtime stories for kids, on my channel homepage so that hopefully this video & any others I might create are easy to find, even if you can't save it to your own playlist)

Over 20 years ago it was telling sleep stories for children, where Dan started with helping people to sleep. He taught numerous children's homes staff how to help children to fall asleep quickly and later he started to teach parents his techniques. Initially teaching how to use his Sleepy Bedtime Tales approach with any book a child wants read to them, before creating his own dedicated stories that parents could read to help children sleep (the stories are far more effective when read by the parent in real-time to their child, where they can properly use the Sleepy Bedtime Tales approach with the child, rather than just an audio recording that won't be synchronised to any individual listening child). The first of which was 'The Rabbit Who Came To Tea' which he published in his 2006 parenting book Parenting Technique That Work, which later became the first story in his 2015 book Sleepy Bedtime Tales where Dan expanded on explaining about how to use the technique and created an additional 10 bedtime stories for children which parents could read to the kids at bedtime, he also shares his knowledge of how to help get children to settle down and sleep at night, based on his years working in children's homes helping children with ADHD, autism and challenging behaviour to settle and sleep and various additional techniques which can be used for children who perhaps would rather watch something when they settle in bed and sleep, or who would just like their parent to be present, and gentle ways to help children re-settle down if they happen to wake up during the night, rather than the often traumatic bedtime strategies taught by other professionals. Sleepy Bedtime Tales was followed up by Relaxing Tales for Children, which contained 11 more relaxing stories for parents to read to their children, with these stories featuring the same characters as featured in the first book. This sequel book of relaxing children's stories contained stories suitable to help children sleep or to help them relax, for example, if they needed to be calmed during the day, like shortly before tea-time, or for use by teachers or other professionals working with children, where the children have 'story-time' or 'meditation-time' during the day.
Just like with Dan's sleep stories for grown ups, all of the bedtime stories and relaxing stories for children are therapeutic, designed to help teach ways of responding to various life situations in healthy ways, as well as being educational, and in some cases also sharing knowledge with the parent or reader about how best to respond in situations and helping children to learn and understand different responses and viewpoints and about empathising with and stepping in the shoes of others and how they see and experience the world.
