  • In their new book, Aiding Empowerment: Democracy Promotion and Gender Equality in Politics, Saskia Brechenmacher and Katherine Mann explore how democracy aid actors promote gender equality in politics and argue that international assistance for women’s political empowerment has evolved significantly over the last three decades and is continuing to unfold.

It seems your entire program is based on the fallacy that gender discrimination is the only (or at least primary) cause of the disparity. Have you ever considered the myriad other factors that lead to the disparity? What about choices and preferences? What percentage of women (especially younger ones) when polled express an interest in politics? Is it the higher than men? The same? Lower? This alone could explain the disparity. But no, you assume it's because society is full of a bunch of misogynists. Very low-resolution thinking.
