What's absolutely awesome about your channel is that I enjoy watching the entire process of you painting ANY miniature, because it's just so well made that there's literally something new to learn in every video. Thank you so much for the quality content Duncan ! NB : I loved your angron and khorne berzerkers tutorials, it truly helped me a lot (and I'm sure the same applies to tons of other peopIe). I was wondering if you planned to do an exalted eightbound / eightbound tutorial, or a jakhal tutorial one day? Or even a lord invocatus tutorial, who knows !!! Cheers, and take care !
Another great video from the man himself, thanks !!! I hope we can get more world eaters painting tutorials also in the future, I followed your guide step by step and the result was...way better than I was hoping for
Also painting some proxies for Tomb Kings right now with a very similar paint scheme. Very happy I found a faster process given how many of these undead I have to paint. I go for an airbrushed zenithal base coat with a light bone color. Greedy Gold from Vallejo for the metal. Color details I'm only going for blue. Then I slap some Seraphim Sepia Wash all over the bones and bandages and only highlight the bones. I use a blue wash for the blue parts and a black wash for non-gold metal parts. Dry brush the metals with lighter metals for some highlights there. But overall, just a lot less necessary to go back and clean stuff up again that way. I think if I had to do this process here I'd go mad, especially because the proxies come with a lot more details in the bones and bandages compared to the GW models here.
Hello Duncan! I am writing from Russia. I want to say a huge thank you for your Warhammer painting guides. Just like 10 years ago, I focus on you. I wish you long life and true fan pleasure from the hobby!
Beautiful job. I've got several of older '80's plastic Skeleton Army sets (over 100 footmen alone, not counting chariots and horsemen) that I pulled out and want repaint and rebase. Good timing, thanks for the incentive.
Looks great as always Duncan! Hoping more swedish stores start selling your colours. I love tomb kings and the tip to start by drubrushing will really help out. Thanks!
When I paint mummies or anything with dry bandages, I usually basecoat them with Zandri Dust, then wash them with Battle Mud Wash or Agrax Earthshade, followed by a drybrush with Ushabti bone. That's it for models that will be used on the battlefield, since they will inevitably see some wear and tear, I don't invest too much work in those. Display models have the drybrushing followed by a 'dotted' highlight of Screaming Skull and some off-white on the most exposed spots.
I remember when this army originally came out - I wanted it then, not because it was a powerful army, but because it just looked so FREAKING AWESOME!!! but I sucked something fierce as a painter: I'm not much better now!! LOL, and didn't think I could do it justice. I bought the Knights already, If I like the game like I think, I will get this ARMY and paint it with the help of Duncan...LOL
Old World has taken my local scene by storm. So many Tomb Kings and Bretonnia players have busted out their old armies again. It’s been getting me curious as to what GW is gonna do with Chaos in the Old World. On another note: finally got my hands on some Two Thin Coats paint. Stuff works marvellously. Glistening Gold is a wonderfully reliable paint.
It's good to see the Tomb Kings of Khemri models make a come back for The Old World, mostly the Necrosphinx. Excellent video. I remember there was a Citadel Foundation paint called Khemri Brown (Baneblade Brown) it was good colour basecoat for the Cadians, as well for the Tomb Kings.
As a more mature person (old guy! 😂) I thoroughly enjoy watching all of your videos Duncan. The narrative, explaining all of your techniques is very clear and easy to follow and the end result speakers for itself. Please keep them coming.
The Bob Ross of Warhammer knocks out another one. Great stuff as always. Do you have plans to show how to paint some of the character choices for the TK? They have a bit more flesh than this model. Or maybe you could recommend another model tutorial of yours that I could copy from? A vampire perhaps?
Shields should definitely be painted on the sprue. Saves so much effort. It is very tempting to just build them up immediately, but you must resist that urge. Also, a yellow wash like zealot yellow or cassandora yellow looks great over gold and gives it an ancient look.
Thinking backwards, I missed the boat on the Tomb Kings back in the old days. Too many other armies... but I always wanted to have a TK Army. Now I jumped in with both feet and ordered the Core Box plus NecroSphinx plus Tomb Stalkers ( Knights ) and I still have Settra in Tin to lead the Army !....Your Vid came right to pass and I am sure I will view it several times once GW is able to ship the ordered Minis... I wonder if you going to do a vid on how to paint the black marble of the Necrosphinx 🤔😄
Great to see these old school schemes get some love by the legend. I recently joined the DRPA and purchased the entirety of wave 1 and wave 2 of TTC, with the racks!! I can't wait to try them out and I love how well the range appears to be organized, I'll finally be able to pick up any model and look at my paint racks and immediately pick my triads without thinking too much. This is what I've always wanted! Will be trying your regal color scheme on the Bret Knights...any chance of more Bretonnians or does that knight basically cover everything relating to that color scheme? Thanks !
Another great video Duncan👍🏻 I have a video request. Could you ever do a short on how to stay motivated to keep painting? I’ve got 9 armies I’m chipping away at, two of which have been ongoing since about 2003. I find I neglect some of them for years at a time and can’t bring myself to even face, space wolves or wood elves for example. Don’t even wanna look at em’. One trick I do is while batch painting a squad for example is to also have a character from a different faction same time to ‘give me something to look forward to’ so like a squad of catachans and a high elf mage on the side so it doesn’t get too monotonous. Anyway sorry for long comment, great vid as per👍🏻😁
Gold can be a nightmare to work with, at least when it comes to Citadel or Army painter paints. From the looks of it, I'll deffinitely give Dragon's gold a try!
I really hope they keep making these miniature’s as they look really cool!! Or is just your awesome painting that does that?? 🤔😊 Will you ever be selling a complete box set of your paints ??
@@DuncanRhodesDRPA how long are we looking at before you get to that stage ?😭😂😂 Watching you use your paint and listening, reading and watching reviews its fantastic stuff!! Please let the peasantry have some!! 😜
Can we see Duncan painting a shuttle with the Von Valancious colors from Rogue Trader? Loved the colors in the game but had some difficulty choosing the right colors to replicate the visual.
@DuncanRhodesDRPA wooo hooo! I started sculpting and painting my own turnip 28 army not too long ago, and I have taken alot of inspiration from your videos
I was asking myself the same thing! It’s impossible for someone who’d call it “warhammer fantasy” to watch the video in a traditional linear view of time
This is exactly what i needed. My plan is to paint the khemri scheme and needed a colour guid. Do u have a colour match chart for your paints compared to gw? Always a legend duncan!
Hey Duncan, Amazing tutorial thanks. Just wanted to confirm is the Demon Red layer paint similar to Evil Sunz Scarlet Citadel paint? I checked the conversion chart mentions Evil Sun Red, but can only find Evil Sunz Scarlet online. Thanks!
Hey Duncan, I need help. I don’t understand how to use layer paints properly. I know you’re supposed to thin them, but I don’t think I’m thinning them enough. When I’m done, the model looks like the layer paint and not at all like the base coat…
Oh, my God. It's a... it's a Tomb King Tomb Guard. Painted at the base of Duncan Rhodes. He must have been someone of great importance. Or he did something *very* naughty. 😉
Tomb Kings are so cool. I usually hate undead, thanks to Necropolis trauma caused by hotseating HoMM3 with siblings, but TKs are fine by me. The Skaven in me cries though; legacy faction are you kidding me...
Kinda annoying he´s referring and doing a guide with his own paints, when they aren't even obtainable, kind of removes the whole meaning of this channel purpose. I used it as guide when painting but thats no longer possible.
Hello. The paints are widely available (see stockist lists on our website and Trans Atlantis Games website too) and we also provide a paint conversion chart over on our website so that you can still follow along using Citadel for instance 😊
I wish Games Workshop put as much effort into catering to their customers and not making absolutely stupid and baffling decisions as Duncan does into painting their models.
Can you please use GW paints and brushes to make your tutorials more accessible? Very few people have access to your 2 thin coats paints and even fewer can afford $100 Artis Opus brushes.
When this is all retconned again and the Tomb Kings become the High Eleves, will you be changing this title? I jest. Great vid yet again. Always liked the Tomb Kings and their lore and it's good to see them get some love when they do.
Settra is pleased with your work, Duncan. Your life shall be spared .... for the time being ......

Agreed about the WE part, I'd love more too if he does'nt mind.
Thank you so much. Rog and I put a ton of work into each and every one.
I'm sure he'll do them eventually.
Long time I don't watch one of your videos. Thanks for returning with my loved tomb kings ❤
No problem 😊

from one Rhodes to another great job
The classics never go out of style.

It’s official. I must buy your paints. Absolutely fantastic tutorial!
Once again a superb 👌 job boss 👍
Just started using 2 thin coats paint - I bought 12 basic colours. Really love using these paints, they're great.
I need to know how to make that transition.. the one between first brushmarks and having beatiful basecoat done.
Always preferred a lighter bone color and a greyish color for the bandages. In the ancient days it was just Skull White with a Brown Ink wash.
Great to see these old school schemes get some love by the legend. I recently joined the DRPA and purchased the entirety of wave 1 and wave 2 of TTC, with the racks!! The dead shall rise, nicely painted in two thin coats.

Great video, Duncan! Will you be planning on doing empire and dwarf guides? Would love a guide on how to do the classic Talabheim scheme 😊
Gold can be a nightmare to work with, at least when it comes to Citadel or Army painter paints. From the looks of it, I'll deffinitely give Dragon's gold a try!
Perfect Duncan, but makeable for normal painters too. Thank you very much.
YOOOO..... Do the Green Knight! I can't think of anybody who is adept enough to tackle this legendry, musterious character!
I really hope they keep making these miniature’s as they look really cool!! Or is just your awesome painting that does that?? 🤔😊

Cool as always. 👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Can we see Duncan painting a shuttle with the Von Valancious colors from Rogue Trader? Loved the colors in the game but had some difficulty choosing the right colors to replicate the visual.
Awesome work! Khemri is finally back.
How long did it take you to paint this miniature?
Great video as always, but if you are going for that classic Egyptian/Tomb King look wouldn't it be better for the weapons to be bronze?
When i saw these skeletton, it makes me think of the movies "The Mummy" ^^
I'd love to see some turnip 28 painting someday!
Not a bad idea
@DuncanRhodesDRPA wooo hooo! I started sculpting and painting my own turnip 28 army not too long ago, and I have taken alot of inspiration from your videos
"Depending when you watch this"... are you thinking of time travel youtubing?

I should use this colour scheme on my Lychguard
That'll look awesome!
This paint job is imperrishable
I’m curious how Duncan would interpret the numas scheme he did in the 2011 tomb king release white dwarf with modern paints and techniques
Yep😮
Yay
Hey Duncan,
Amazing tutorial thanks. Just wanted to confirm is the Demon Red layer paint similar to Evil Sunz Scarlet Citadel paint? I checked the conversion chart mentions Evil Sun Red, but can only find Evil Sunz Scarlet online. Thanks!
Great!
What tufts did you use? I’ve got a load from gamers grass but not quite the burnt brown look
Excellent video. I only wish u made it two weeks earlier lol
I really really wish they updated all the old skeletons to at least look like tomb guard era skeletons :(
Our true king will show them! We do not serve, we rule!
This would work for the entire boxset yes?
Hi, please could you tell me what scale was the mini you were painting was?
Damn cool.
Hey Duncan, I need help. I don’t understand how to use layer paints properly. I know you’re supposed to thin them, but I don’t think I’m thinning them enough. When I’m done, the model looks like the layer paint and not at all like the base coat…
What was the basing recipe?
Oh, my God. It's a... it's a Tomb King Tomb Guard. Painted at the base of Duncan Rhodes. He must have been someone of great importance. Or he did something *very* naughty. 😉
how to drybrush two thin coats? i dont get it.
I see I am not the only one in need of a haircut! Time disappears when painting…
You bring glory to Khemri
Favorite tomb model?
Ah I’d like to paint some but can’t get hold of anything without a re-mortgage.
Warhammer Fantasy or Warhammer the Old World depends on when you watch this? Are people somehow watching this in the past?
Duncan is closer and closer to becoming Bob Ross.
😊
Thank you for helping us to feel it's okay to not paint space marine eyes
Tomb Kings are so cool. I usually hate undead, thanks to Necropolis trauma caused by hotseating HoMM3 with siblings, but TKs are fine by me.

Duncan does not serve, HE RULES! Its the base somewhere btw? Had to see this withouth sound sadly :C
This video could have come straight outta 2006.
Wicked
Really started the video by inhaling sharply just to flex on these skeletons huh?
