This is so amazing. Thanks a bunch. Two days ago I thought this seemed impossible. Now I'm playing the intro, and both hands seperately within 2 hours. Also your hands are really built.
The jumps are definitely tricky 😭 I know it may sound a little crazy but try practicing those jumps to a metronome WITHOUT looking at your hands. It'll train you to kind of just FEEL where the notes are. Since both hands are busy it's hard to pay attention to both at the same time 😵💫
@@WholeWheatPiano It doesn't sound crazy at all! Thank you so much for the tip!! It's mainly just that last G minor bit that's causing me problems now - I'll try practicing it the way you described

It's so cool seeing how different this theme is when played Slowly. It almost feels sad...kinda wish it was the theme of the Great Fairy fountains in MM when they're (The Great Fairies) broken apart.
Theres just something about this song thats so difficult!!! I dont kkow why but it took me a whole week to do learn this song fluently😬. Definitely worth it though!
So ive been playing piano for 2 whole days and this is like, the one thing i want to play someday. I was just curious to see what the right hand looks like. That stretch from pinky to middle finger is insane to me.
It's a pretty big jump! I wouldn't say this song is for absolute beginners but I do think it's a good song to aim for! The jumps can be intimidating but if you learn to play slowly and patiently it just magically connects. You just need to build good habits and remember that slow and steady is better than fast and sloppy. You'll get it!!!
cheers for this mate. only been playing for almost a year and this is helping alot! just wondering if you have any tips for how to practice the polymelody with those massive gaps? really good tutorial btw man 🙌
Thank you so much! You know, I know exactly what can help but it's too hard to put into a comment. I've been wanting to make a video about it but just haven't been able to make the time 🥹🥹🥹 A good point to remember though is that whenever the left hand is playing the right hand is playing along with it. When putting the hands together, it's important to know which notes line up with each other... When you're clear about that, then you can start incorporating things like alternative rhythms, metronome, chords, etc. Sorry if this is a little unclear 🥹😭 there's actually so much that can and should go into playing not just this piece but piano in general it's just too much to write 😶🌫️
amazing tutorial, thank you! I especially love how you break it up and explain some of the song structure it really helps to understand what you're playing! Edit: lol my hands are too small to play the arpeggiated chords (I can do 9 keys at the absolute max, but only 8 comfortably) but I'll skip that step. However I still love how you explain that!!! Makes you think of chords and not single notes which makes it all much easier. Edirt 2: Ok this song is actually super simple when you think in chords. I'm mind-blown! This is so cool. Thank you for your tutorial!
Hey thank you so much! 😁 I'm glad the chords help. I think understanding the theory when learning a song is such a music hack that's undervalued. Makes memorizing much easier and practice a bit more structured. It's a win win!
Great tutorial! Just wondering if you have any advice for pedalling? Unsure whether to pedal just with the left hand bass notes or with every right hand arpeggio
I would say that anytime your right pinky plays a top note, that's when you should be switching and holding the pedal. A lot of the ambiance of this piece comes from the sustained notes so hold that pedal! Just remember to release when the chords change! (As in when the pinky plays a new note) 😁

One more thing, how does this channel only have 300 subs? the video quality is amazing for someone who only has 300 subs and its been here from 2014 almost 10 years yet you only have 300? somethings fishy!!!
Honestly the pattern is a bit strange and unconventional. Which is why I think it's such a beautiful song! The chords are quite a big stretch but if you can learn them perfectly and separately from the beginning then putting the hands together becomes a bit easier. It's deceiving!
I only started the channel a few months ago! It's just that I had a UA-cam account for a long time but never thought of posting videos 😅 thanks for your comments though! I hope you can stay tuned for the next videos 😁@@eggz2313
There is SO much that can be done here. I'd say one rule of thumb is use a metronome and get the hands separately to the same speed (Ex. 100bpm each SEPARATELY) then when putting the hands together, cut that speed in half and work up from there. (Ex. 100/2=50bpm). Another tool (that's hard to explain through words) is playing the right hand normally while the left hand plays chords instead of melody lines. (Ex. In 4:05 . . . play both Bb's TOGETHER then D and A TOGETHER then @ 4:09 d-g-a-c TOGETHER while the right hand plays normally). This gets your hand used to getting in that position smoothly without pressuring you to play all the notes. You have to play these with correct timing though or it kind of makes things weird.... I hope that helps 😭😭
3:07 and 3:14 are HUGE stretches so don't worry about holding all the notes with your hand, use the pedal instead to hold the notes. If anything, I recommend holding all the pinky notes (top notes). You should also practice from Up to Down... get used to making the jumps with the Pinky and Middle finger and practice those two notes over and over... that's the biggest hurdle with this piece. Hope that helps and good luck! 💪🏽
You don't have to hold the chords.. just jump to the last notes. I would practice just jumping from the bottom to the top note (Ex. Low G to high C)... It's tough 😭 practice slowly!
I started playing piano a few days ago, I can play the entire right hand without problems, but I can't play the left hand, It is very uncomfortable for my fingers, could you give me any recommendations?
@@YoSm411 Are you playing the hands separately? Or together? If separate, play as many of the bottom notes as you can as chords and jump from chord to chord. Don't play the notes separately but as whole clusters and really get used to that before playing them separately.

Don't worry about holding all the notes at the same time. It's more of a sweep! Each note is played on its own... If anything, hold the top (pinky) notes!
Sorry, I wrote out the sheet music on paper 😭 Did you try playing the hands separately first? Since they both play at the same time throughout most of the song you should try doubling every other note (both hands at the same time) (Ex. A BB C DD E FF G AA) ... I hope that makes sense 😅
