- What is Daemon's ultimate goal? Daemon Targaryen is undoubtedly one of the most charismatic and popular characters in House of the Dragon. A character who went from being the hope and the next heir to the iron throne, to become almost an enemy of the crown. But what is Daemon's ultimate goal? is it to avenge the death of his brother and stepson? or is it that behind the revenge lies a desire for control and power? Today we're going to talk again about Daemon Targaryen, and the second season of House of the Dragon.
When you have a weapon like Daemon alloted to you after you suffer the horrific slaughter of a child, like Rheanyra has had happen with Aemond taking out Lucerys and his dragon Arrax using Vhagar, you use that weapon. I don't see Rheanyra being manipulated. I see her loosing her full capacity of her arsenal on her enemies. You don't hold anything back in war.
Yes Daemon is vicious, vengeful, and at times vile but i believe it's been because of his love for his family. I believe he truly loved his brother Viserys and i believe he loves Rhaenyra in his own twisted way. I can't wait for the battle above the God's Eye. Gonna be epic.

Exactly, i think he has a deep love and respect for his family. I also think he is one of the greyest characters in all of books and cinema. Like the quote in the book says and i know im gonna butcher it but it goes something like this " Daemon the rebel prince was both the most feared and loved warriors of his time." If Daemon was truly evil nobody would have any love for him and his scenes in HOTD show he had real love for his brother, his heritage, his niece and his first wife. I know the books even show he especially loved his son, who is just like him.
Daemon's one redeeming quality is the love for his family. I've searched all of this up, and the writers who work with martin said Daemon really does love Rhaenyra. Just like leana says, "i know i wasn't your 1st choice," & when he was having a hard time being intimate with the white worm, she offered to bring in a silver haired girl. There's several other hints in the book and show that lead me to believe he loves her. In the books, he doesn't choke her.
Daemon is loyal to his brother and his wishes, Rheanyra is the true heir, his marriage to her is customary in family tradition, the greens are traitors to the throne, Rheanyra’s children, with him along with his two daughters are all Valyrian bloodlines whom actually have more claim to the throne than anyone on the greens side as they are Targaryen and Hightower, just my opinion
Aemond and Aegon Targs , they have full claims to the throne , they are children of the king . The fact that they are half Hightowers means nothing at all. Aegon have more claim to the throne than everyone in ordinary rules . Because he is first son of the king . And Viserys shouldve name him his heir . Thats what everyone before him and after him were doing . Its a unspoken rule . But Viserys never named him and thats why this conflict actually exists at all.
@@user-df8lp9zq8s going by normal rules would put Daemon as heir long ago, but none of it matters as Rheanyra was named heiress/heir

@@iriswatt4275 I said her children with Daemon and his two daughters with Leana, they are all true bloods of Valyria, meaning any of them have a claim to the throne by the King’s decree, rules or bloodlines, the Blacks are by right the ones who should sit the throne, and blood means everything in a monarchy

@@user-df8lp9zq8s i swear did anyone watch the show or read the book, he wasn't as hell bent on securing the iron throne as people would make him out to be. He rides or dies for his family period. I would even go as far as sayin he enjoyed participating in the wars more than he loved governing and ruling from the side lines from a throne. I think the iron throne was just simply a means to an end for Daemon, get close as to not let it slip from his blood line and not just his children but for his old Valayrian lineage and way of life
Daemon and Aemond are mirror images of each other. Hell, they BASICALLY have the same name.
As a mother, once someone does what Aemond has done to your child you lose a part of you. You no longer need anyone to “egg” you on, you are ready to battle and lucky for her Daemon is on her side…for now anyway.
War isnt a board game with rules. War is or should be fought until there is only 1 person standing, a true winner. You fight to win not to play a game. Turn Daemon loose. His experience and cunning would be better served without his hands tied behind his back and playing nice be damned

I think,daemon didn’t want the throne, Daemon is a badass character but he has his own way of showing love to devotees. he just needed their valerian customs on the top. And he felt that viserys being puppet of Otto who tries to destroy Targaryen pure bloodline step by step sometimes Otto is doing the old town agendas.
I think personally, the throne must go to rhaenyra as viserys named her an heir and also viserys didn’t change the name of the heir even if Aegon is born.
