The sun is sinking low in the sky above Ashokan The pines and the willows know soon we will part There's a whisper in the wind of promises unspoken And a love that will always remain in my heart My thoughts will return to the sound of your laughter The magic of moving as one And a time we'll remember long ever after The moonlight and music and dancing are done Will we climb the hills once more? Will we walk the woods together? Will I feel you holding me close once again? Will every song we've sung stay with us forever? Will you dance in my dreams or my arms until then? Under the moon the mountains lie sleeping Over the lake the stars shine They wonder if you and I will be keeping The magic and music, or leave them behind
Nice arrangement of Jay Unger's Ashokan Farewell. Very light and airy.....like Jay plays it. I also like it in a more powerful arrangement using lots of three note chords and filling in with the bass bridge notes. Good luck with your playing.
Hello 🤩 dear hope your safe during this Covid-19,Just wanna keep in touch..! I just saw your profile an got interested.! It’s not bad if we keep in touch an probably get to know each other for good an see what the future might have for us,♥️♥️
Never thought about picking up some of the low notes on the Bass. I stay on the treb,. :) Adds a whole new sound to the song due to the tonal difference between the same note on both bridges.. Gotta try that on a number of other tunes too.
Ryan O'Farrell : A very nice alternate rendition and arrangement of this beautiful waltz, on an instrument not heard very often. But to say that it puts Jay's performance of it to shame, the man who composed it specifically for fiddle and guitar, Is a stretch beyond comprehension.
Love this melody and you played it beautifully.x
Absolutely beautiful and very beautifully done!!🛐👍🌹🌹✝️✝️💕💓🌄🎆🔯❤️🕎💗🇺🇸

Thank you. This is my arrangement. I almost always play tunes arranged by myself on a dulcimer.
Absolutely amazing! How you can bring all those notes to life just by striking a few strings. You certainly have a gift.
Very, very nice. A beautiful rendition of a beautiful song.
This is one of my mom's favorite pieces of music. Thank you for putting it out here.
Nice! Jay Unger would be proud. Really cool hammers too.
So lovely, a past in memory or a suggestion of the eternal beauty of a fine melody...
Beautifully expressed.
Beautiful!
I learned of this wonderful tune from Ken Burn's: "The Civil War". It is a recurring theme through out the series (11 hrs.).
Our groups leader loved that and we learned it. He recently died and it's a bittersweet memory of him.
This instrument sounds lovely and has as it seems a lot of different names and forms all over the world
I am enthralled by your playing and that tune.
I used to play this as a duet with my sister. Very cool.
Beautiful playing of a beautiful song.
Marvelous. Thank you for that delight.

Beautiful. Just perfect...
Man, I wish I could play one of those!!!!!!
You should publish a book of your arrangements like this. I would buy it!
How lovely.
So beautiful.
I'm in tears!
Beautiful! Wonderfully played. Thank you.
You played this so well. It sounds very nice your dulcimer. I am learning to play the banjo now. They sound somewhat the same.
So very pretty.
Where could I get the arrangement you use for this song. It is beautiful.
Please, would you let me buy the sheet music for your beautiful arrangement? I would so love to play it.

I really like your hammers. Were did you get them?
Probably from a wizard.
Incredible...
Beautifully done!! :-)
Hello! I really like how this sounds. May I use in a college project? I promise you it's not commercial, only for study purpose.
To ytaoki: By any chance, were you by any chance at the Gettysburg re-enactment in 2008?
What does the row on the far right do? Is it leftover pitch after obtaining the tuning for the rows on the left?
Yes, the leftover pitch. That section not played.
Somehow this instrument seems more appropriate to the piece
I've never seen or heard of this instrument...
I want to see someone play he mandu on hammered dulcimer.
You put Jay Ungar to shame. This is the most beautiful version of this song I have ever heard. Well done!

Oddly enough sounds better at 1.25 speed
I tried it and you're right.
Epic!
1.25 speed
Beautiful!
