Hi Jim, your Milliput projects get better and better. I think the patterns you create have a look of Africa. A place I lived for a short while. You have again inspired me to make more bowls featuring Milliput myself. Keep up the good work Jim. Best wishes, Paul
Hello Jim Firstly lovely job mate the new milliput yellow with the black is quiet stunning. The new Yorkshire grit looks and sounds very interesting as well. Thanks for sharing your video as always Kind Regards Col
Thanks for that post Jim. Have just got some YG microfine so am away to use that now. (Beginner here) Have also seen various posts regarding the Milliput and yours is easily the best and I have no doubt it will be on my next order of stuff so that I can play. 2 tips in one video for me so that is fantastic. Thanks again. Consider another viewer now subscribed and bell rung.
I enjoy watching all the things you make, but there's nothing like one of your lovely bowls - especially with Milliput. The finish from the new type of Yorkshire Grit is very impressive!
Somewhere between a Liquorice Allsort and a Bakewell Tart! Fantastic Jim, I bought some Milliput, but haven't yet had the courage to commit my arthritic fingers to the task. Someone should design a mixer for it . . .
Milliput can be hard on the hands to mix, that is why I tend to use a roll and fold technique as much as possible, it is easier on the thumbs. Cheers, Jim
Great video Jim , would be nice if milliput was available in Canada! The micro grit looks great, and will be available soon in Canada! Love the easywood chuck and hollowers, I'll have to get those big cole jaws for mine Take care Rob
Dragging the knife through the Milliput produces a interesting effect -- latte art decoration :-) The YG superfine looks great. Of course, I just opened my new container of the standard stuff... Clyde
Definitely worth another try, you can achieve a very high polish on Milliput and it brings out the colour and blackens the black. You can even buff it on a wheel if you are careful not to burn it. Cheers, Jim
When mixed you have 20-30 minutes working time depending on temperature and volume mixed. Rolling flat extends working time as it keeps it cooler. Cheers Jim
That bowl is gorgeous the yellow & black are great together. Wonder what other colours you could mix. Wow the shine with the Yorkshire Grit is like glass
The microfine is a finer polish and works well on some harder resins. The original is in my opinion slightly more versatile and does get finer as you work it.
Lovely bowl Jim and you're tools are growing by the day , put me down for the new Yorkshire grit and is the new milliput going to be at Coventry, as always great video
Jim as it seems you are a spokes person / product tester for Miliput :-) can you ask if they plan on making bigger packs? I've been using it lately and bigger packs would be a good idea.
Hi Simon, I’m not sure they will be able to produce bigger packs because they are a very small company and it would mean new machinery etc. I will mention it next time I speak with them. Personally I find it difficult to mix more than one packet at a time. Cheers, Jim
You could but only the pieces on the very surface would show because it is totally opaque. To make it a putty, filler is added and this makes it opaque so no clear version possible. Cheers, Jim
Yes people have used Milliput for pen blanks, you can either make a blank and drill it or wrap the Milliput directly around the brass tube. Cheers, Jim
Great looking bowl Jim cant wait to get my hands on some of the new Milliput colours. When using the microfine do you still have to use the normal YG ?
Very difficult to say without microscopic analysis but the Microfine certainly takes it to the next level and to what I would say is buffing ready. Cheers, Jim
Yorkshire Grit has made a huge difference to my finishing. You could use YG original first if you like or just go in with the Microfine on its own, although I would sand to 400 if you are going to do that. Cheers, Jim
Great work, May i ask where i need to look on youtube for that depth gauge, thats the biggest problem i have with would turning one minute its too thick the next , disaster i have gone through the bottom!
Very nice. Can't wait to try the new milliput colors and the Yorkshire grit.
Thank you very much Thomas. Cheers, Jim
As usual a very nice bowl, love the new milliput colours.
Thank you very much Rex. Cheers, Jim
That is wonderful! I really like the new yellow Milliput!😀😀😀

The micro grit looks great, and will be available soon in Canada!
Love the easywood chuck and hollowers, I'll have to get those big cole jaws for mine
Take care
Rob
Thank you very much Rob. The EWT gear is fantastic. Next time I speak to Milliput, I will ask them about Canada mate. Cheers, Jim
If they need a retailer maybe we can do business 😉
I actually found these guys online today
www.sunwardhobbies.ca/fillers-and-putty/ in Toronto Canada !!
A very nice job the colors were precious.👍🏼
Thank you very much Tomas. Cheers, Jim

Obrigada Marcos pelas suas palavras. Fique com Deus. Jim
Great review Jim another beautiful piece :-)
Thank you very much Pam. I was pleased with the pattern. Cheers, Jim
Dragging the knife through the Milliput produces a interesting effect -- latte art decoration :-) The YG superfine looks great. Of course, I just opened my new container of the standard stuff... Clyde
Thanks Clyde, one of my favourite patterns. Cheers, Jim
Beautiful!
Thank you very much Aleksey. Cheers, Jim
Very nice 👌😊
Thank you very much 👍🏼👍🏼
Cheers
Jim
I've only used Milliput once. It was kind of dull but maybe I will try again with the new YG.
Definitely worth another try, you can achieve a very high polish on Milliput and it brings out the colour and blackens the black. You can even buff it on a wheel if you are careful not to burn it. Cheers, Jim
how deep in the miliput groove great bowl
Thank you very much Dave, the groove is about 3mm
Cheers
Jim
You are genius
Júlíus
Thank you very much. Cheers, Jim
Still haven't seen yellow milliput available in US.
No it never went into full production. The standard Milliput is kind of yellow but not so attractive. Many thanks for watching .
your bowls could be displayed at the tate gallery.
Thank you very much, praise indeed. Cheers, Jim
1:47 how can you make sure it is still usable later after it is mixed? thanks
When mixed you have 20-30 minutes working time depending on temperature and volume mixed. Rolling flat extends working time as it keeps it cooler.
Cheers
Jim
That bowl is gorgeous the yellow & black are great together. Wonder what other colours you could mix. Wow the shine with the Yorkshire Grit is like glass
Thank you very much Dawn, yes a great finish. Cheers, Jim
What is the difference between the Yorkshire Grit Abrasive Paste and the Microfine Paste?
The microfine is a finer polish and works well on some harder resins. The original is in my opinion slightly more versatile and does get finer as you work it.
Lovely bowl Jim and you're tools are growing by the day , put me down for the new Yorkshire grit and is the new milliput going to be at Coventry, as always great video
Thank you very much Barry. YG will be at Coventry but not Milliput. Cheers, Jim
Cheers, Jim
Could you imbed brass shavings in white ( do they make a clear? ) Milliput instead ou using CA glue to cement them in place? Just a thought.
You could but only the pieces on the very surface would show because it is totally opaque. To make it a putty, filler is added and this makes it opaque so no clear version possible. Cheers, Jim
Is there a reason you finish the outside before hollowing the inside?
I do it this way because the Milliput takes several hours to set there is less chance of the bowl warping if it is still solid. Cheers, Jim
Can only think you did this today as in London its hot sticky and hard work to do anything.
Yes I did, this video went out the same day, very hot indeed. Cheers, Jim
Is Milliput food safe? If so put some in the old rolling pin & make it decorated. If not make it a decorative one only
Milliput is nontoxic when cured but I don’t think it is certified food safe. Cheers, Jim
Hi Jim do you think milliput would be OK for pen blanks
Yes people have used Milliput for pen blanks, you can either make a blank and drill it or wrap the Milliput directly around the brass tube. Cheers, Jim
Jim Overton - Jimson's Stuff brilliant definitely will try this thanks very much
Great job Jim that turned out amazing.
Does this mean you have to get the wife a new rolling pin?
Thank you very much Paul. Yes it does, or I could make one ! Cheers, Jim
Great looking bowl Jim cant wait to get my hands on some of the new Milliput colours.
When using the microfine do you still have to use the normal YG ?
Thank you very much Graham. I didn’t use regular YG on this project but it would work well if you used that first. Cheers, Jim
Brilliant Jim! Should a wood turner actually be threatening to BUY a rolling pin??👍👍👍👍👍👍😁😁😁😁😁😁😁
Thank you very much Alan, yes I really should make one , although it is probably cheaper to buy one these days ! Cheers, Jim
Hello Jim, What are the equivalent grades of grit that the standard and fine versions break down to? Regards, Glenn. :-)
Very difficult to say without microscopic analysis but the Microfine certainly takes it to the next level and to what I would say is buffing ready. Cheers, Jim
I know it isnt the right use but how about using one of the new chill pillows by JML to roll your milliput on? Keep it cool
Could work Dawn !
I love my Yorkshire grit. Do you use it after YG original, or instead of?
Yorkshire Grit has made a huge difference to my finishing. You could use YG original first if you like or just go in with the Microfine on its own, although I would sand to 400 if you are going to do that. Cheers, Jim
Time to design a wooden Frisbee.
Could be !
Another great video Jim. Love the yellow. Hope the new colors become available here in US soon. Cheers
Thank you very much Pops, not sure when the colours will be available yet. Cheers, Jim
The yellow and black is a great combination nice bowl
Thanks for the video
Thank you very much Gary. Yes the colours work well. Cheers, Jim
I take it squidging is the official technical term.
Of course, probably derived from Latin 😉
You might try using a pizza cutter to cut the strips.
That’s a good idea ! Cheers, Jim
10:50 curling stone :D
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Jim do you own Milliput, if you don’t mind me asking? Great job Jim, you are the master with the putty! Cheers, Sean
Thank you very much Sean, no I have no financial interests in Milliput, they are are a small family run business in the UK. Cheers, Jim
Great work, May i ask where i need to look on youtube for that depth gauge, thats the biggest problem i have with would turning one minute its too thick the next , disaster i have gone through the bottom!
Thank you very much Mart. I got the idea for the depth gauge from Sam Angelo, here is a link.
