That was the purpose of the movie “Koyaanisqatsi” made in 1983 by Godfrey Reggio. You should take a look at it… The original soundtrack was composed by Philip Glass (far different from BoC music which although suits perfectly to the footage) and adds a more terrifying feeling to the images.

You should check out the films of Ron Fricke, too (he was the cinematographer and a writer for Koyaanisqatsi.) He's gone on to make some equally amazing films. Check out Baraka (1992) same message, but perhaps a bit more uplifting.

ok i will tell you what this is song is about. this song is about being under the table at some family gathering when you are like 4 years old. you are crawling under the table seeing only legs of people sitting and you hear chunks of conversations that makes no sense to you because you are four. you are sitting under this table and it feels like magic and safe place. you are wondering what they all are talking about but you don't really care because you feel good there.

To clarify to anyone curious, this is a selection of clips form the film pieced together to go along with the song.

This song reminds me of my first wife. She was a singer and also enjoyed BOC. She was my turquoise hexagon sun, my north. We split never to see each other again only during the divorce audience. Our relationship was very intense, and very difficult too. She hates me, because I was such an immature person and hurtful (but not a bad man), and I still feel her hate towards me. When I was good, I tried my best, but yes, she went because of me. When she left, I used to hear this song and cry a lot. Many years have passed, and now I listen to this song, and I mostly remember the good times I had with her. She taught me about love, about arts, about life. I hope that where ever she is, she is happy, or at least, she tries too.
I think this is my favorite song in the world...and I also think that if I ever meet someone that likes this song as much as I do, I will instantly commit my life to this person, because this is not just a song, is a whole new universe of emotions...and I want this person to be in my life.

This song is in a lot of media I'd experienced since my later teens, and I feel like its traveled with me, often there in the background somewhere until I actually found its source. To me, it always feels like a calm place to go. A little wistful, nostalgic, but overall hopeful and chill.

It's weird, its actually uplifting and makes me feel motivated but I've definitely gotten that sad feeling from this song before as well

@@Johnson-gu8gg Its a really strange feeling for me, cant really put it in the happy/depressing category. Its more of an introspective feeling for me, makes me think and puts me in a strange place.

BoC's music is strangely calming and relaxing, and the videos are sort of hypnotic too.

Boards of Canada made me not need or want anything else from this World. Their music made me a very content, easy-going person.
I have always been this way but listening to their music, letting it play through my speakers, in the background (while doing chores, catching flights to different continents, at the airport, cab rides, meeting various people, trail running, hiking, camping, writing or even just studying) has really helped me live out of time and has warped my memory in a really cool way 😅
I often find myself being the most content person in the room. Content with thoughts, feelings or perception. It feels great to not need or want anything or anyone. I guess that's what freedom is.

Boards of Canada's music always has that nostalgic vibe going on, kinda similar to feeling like you've lived in the past at one point in time. If that's the case, I probably lived in the mid 70's.
