BKO Quintet @ Satellit Café

The music of BKO Quintet was born from a meeting between five confirmed artists. This training offers a real journey to the heart of present-day Mali. The drums call for dancing. the fragile and haunting voices touch; traditional chordophones hypnotize. Only musicians who devote their lives to it achieve this subtlety of playing. Located in West Africa, Mali has common borders with seven other countries. A formidable crossroads, its location produces an exceptional cultural and musical diversity. Around Ibrahima Sarr, the powerful percussions during the ensemble breaks are soft for the melodies. The bass of the donso n'goni reinforces the crystalline sounds of the djeli n'goni. Finally, it is between the precious voice of the griot and the deep voice of the hunter that a dialogue takes place and the journey begins...
