    I consider myself a Jeep Patriot expert/nerd. (I've owned 3, currently running a 2017 Fd2). Anyway this is the most impressive video I've seen regarding Patriots. I learned some new things and I thought I knew everything about the Patriot. Awesome video and content!

      @MontanaMedic13 I’m confused about what the Freedom Drive 2 looks like as opposed to the other options. Is it the one with the small chrome t-handle that says something like 4WD or something like that?

      I went to discount tires and they recommended me 18s.
      Now my abs light is on after two weeks. And idk if the tire size is related to it.
      I wish I had watched this video before

    With new 15x8 Steelies, 235/75/R15 fit perfect with no lift on stock 2014 Jeep Patriot. 4WParts installed without issues at all. They were surprised at the clearance and fit. Its a good aggressive look rather than my lame 17X9 crap wheels with 225/60/R17 bs. Drives very smooth and well with TOYO A/T III's. One FYI, my 4 shocks were blown originals at 150k which was nuts, they were all broken and bottomed out, do yourself a favor, I got 4 new shocks all the way around and it lifted the stance which was needed, where if I didn't do that, the new set would NOT have fit according to 4WParts guys. New shocks are very important to be perfect new stock height all the way around before upgrading your AFT wheels and tires. I also added new brakes all the way around for a extra safety measure.

    I have a 2015 Jeep Patriot with General Altimax RT-45 tires and have driven through snow like no other car I've ever owned. This is the best one that I've had in the snow. It's sufficient for everything that I need it for, and it hauls some PA equipment around for me.. Thank you for the video.

    I have the 235/70R16’s on my 2016 2.0 Sport. I love the difference in height and looks, but gas does seem to suffer a bit. At highway speeds it’s fine actually, RPM’s are lower and get ~ 26mpg, but in town I usually get 17/18.
    Anyway, I tried fixing the tire size based on your old video, but I think the CVT models can’t be adjusted, unless they updated it, because it results in limp mode. I spent a couple hours googling on how to fix my mistake. I might try looking into it again, it would be great to get it to work.
    JSCAN is great though, I used it to make a spare key. Probably saved me from paying $300 to a dealer to make one. That’s gotta be one of the biggest scams out there.

    As someone who bought a Patriot recently. I heard one important distinction in your video, bigger tires mean sacrificing torque… this sounds like a great excuse for a turbo install idk 🤷

    • @shoveI
      @shoveI  Місяць тому

      Every once in a while someone says they're gonna do it but conspicuously they never come back to show it done 😁🤣 My opinion is it's just not worth it, for the same money it would cost to make a turbo Patriot you could just buy any of the other available 4wd's with the power and gearing you wanted.

      @@shoveI oh sure, absolutely. I know how many cheaper and more capable 4x4’s I can buy for the money. But I also know I like this car a lot and for now it’s my daily. A little extra performance and fuel economy out of a car I already really like driving and fits my family doesn’t seem like a bad get.

    Hey I am planning to install 2inch lift on my Patriot but would like to keep the stock 16inch rims.. Can I use a 235/70R16 AT on it? There is a guy here on YT rocking a 215/70R16 AT but if I could go to 235 would be better as they are cheaper atm at Walmart. What will be the best AT size tires in your opinion should I go with the stock 16inch steelies? Thanks!

    Do you think a venom power hunter 235/60/18 will fit without rubbing since it has bigger treads on the tire??

    • @shoveI
      @shoveI  6 місяців тому

      I think it's pretty likely they'll fit! Tires do slightly vary by brand and model but the dimensions are supposed to be outer dimensions so a 235mm tire should be the same width no matter what brand.

    • @shoveI

      225/75R16 is 29.3" tall and could rub in a couple places on a Compass. A 225/70R16 is 1.1" larger diameter and 10mm wider than stock Compass tires and should have no difficulty.

    Can you just replace one tire on jeep Patriot 4x4 if one goes bad?

    • @shoveI
      @shoveI  14 днів тому

      If you use the same size, yes it's OK to replace one tire. The slight difference in size from being new won't cause a problem. There are no dry clutches, nor any clutches at all in continuous mesh at highway speeds. The wheel speed sensors are not sensitive enough to be set off by that minor difference in wheel speed either.

    • @belloa3026
      @belloa3026 14 днів тому +1

      @@shoveISo it won't mess up the transfercase? I know the newer Jeeps or Durango if one goes bad you need to replace all 4.

    • @shoveI
      @shoveI  14 днів тому

      there is no transfer case. the rear differential or "RDU" contains a wet clutch which is electrically activated. That is the only friction element in the 4wd system. Under normal daily driving on surfaces with decent traction it pulses on momentarily each time you depart from a stop and then remains off the entire rest of the time you drive. If you are on very slippery surfaces the clutch engages frequently but the slip on the ground would offset any tire size difference. When you lock the 4wd with the small lever between the seats it tells the rear drive unit to engage continually but it still pulses off when going around corners and disengages completely at 35mph and above, and it has a temperature model that can identify when it has generated too much heat.
      These units almost never wear out any time during the life of the vehicle so unless you are using it very abusively or you neglect fluid service intervals there is really no likelihood of damage from the minor difference in a new and old tire of the same size. I would do it without a second thought, on my own Patriot.

    I have a 2017 Jeep Patriot. The side of the door says it takes P205/70R16. I'm shopping for new tires. A tire sales person told me that I could go with a Michelin Defender 2 at 215/65R16. I know nothing about tires. Does this sound like it will work? I don't always trust sales people. Thank you!

    • @shoveI
      @shoveI  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes, you can do that size without any worries. A 215/65R16 is 0.3" smaller diameter and 0.4" wider than a 205/70R16 . Michelin Defender 2 are good tires that last a very long time.

    Would factory 17“ Rubincon wheels fit on a Patriot ?

    • @shoveI
      @shoveI  6 місяців тому

      Rubicons have a 5x127 lug pattern; Patriots are 5x114.3 . But if you're looking for other OEM wheels to buy cheap you can look at Dodge Journey, Mitsubishi Outlander, Dodge Caliber.. and also older Jeeps (ZJ, XJ, YJ) have a compatible bolt pattern. Mine are from a 1993 ZJ .
