Don't worry I won't stop making my beauty standard videos. I actually got more videos planned, but I also wanna continue with my "normal" content and switch it up from time to time. 💗😊 Any suggestions though?
Funny how filipino people mock each other for being tanned or for having dark skin when the weather is mostly sunny and it's always been our ancestor's natural skin color
I've heard that the Spaniards came and really messed them up with their crazy hierarchy system which societally promoted half blood pale Filipinos and made the native people second class citizens in their own country.

Ikr !!!Its after economic liberalization. Its like a billion dollar industry in India. They are making profits from people's insecurities 😔. We have always considered fair skin superior but it got worse during the 90s.
Alot of koreans including my family have pale skin. We ARE embracing our natural skin tones. Dont think that we have dark skin alot of us are very pale naturally. Koreans are one of the most pale ethnicities in Asia.
@T K no they don't, you are a typical filipino that to uplift themselves they have to drag others down with them. east asians typically have light skin.
@@kimeli You only have to search for a pre debut picture of any korean celebrity and compare them to a current one. The whitening is just obvious. You can easily find whitening products pretty much everywhere in Korea. Adding to that most Koreans also don't go to the beach, avoid the sun and point out and mock when someone looks darker so they might be lighter than other asians but they're asians after all, white is not their natural skin color. Oh and btw having a darker skin tone isn't something to feel bad about.
I'm mexican and i remember looking at pictures of myself when i was like 9 or 10 and thinking i was too dark and ugly. i stayed inside that summer :( now all the white girls want to be tan.... i literally thought ariana grande was hispanic bc she was tan but shes ITALIAN lmao
Welp sometime we assume totally wrong, I though Daniella vedovelli was italian when she is actually brasilian, and just as you I thought Ariana was hispanic lol as to "most Mexican girls are naturally cute, regardless of the skin color" err... isn't that kind of a blanket statement? Feels generalizing to me but w/e i guess...
I'm born in Sweden but my parents are Filipinos. When I came to Philippines for the first time last year, my parents family asked me how I was so white and I said that this was my normal skin color. When we went to the beach I became so tan and I LOVED it because I had never become that tan before, but then my parents Filipino family said that I should use these whitening facial wash, cremes, etc, so that I don't look "poor", but I refused because I was so confident. These products are actually toxic because they bleach the skin. Philippines beauty standards are so messed up.
I went to school with a girl that was Black and Filipino, and she was considered one of the prettiest girls at school. Her eyes were dark brown, they looked black. And her skin was extremely dark, and her hair was Black, curly and waist length.
I'm Filipino-American with lighter complexion. I lived in the Philippines when I was a kid and I always got complimented about my light complexion. People always asked me if my dad was white. It perplexed me growing up because I didn't see the big deal about skin tones. It's disgusting really that so many companies out there are promoting their products based on people's insecurities. Any skin colour is beautiful! Black, Brown, Olive, Tan, Porcelain, etc. I like to do a lot of outdoor activities so I'm Def tanned now. I love my current skin tone ;)
Porcelain isn't a skin color porcelain is a description of skin type. Meaning it is smooth and free of acne, black heads, discoloration. It also may resemble a glass doll. It can come in any skin color. It isn't skin color itself. Just wanted to point that out
same here bro- im not "mixed" (like no *recent* foreign ancestors) but i have a lighter complexion-- pale actually. hell, i'm always mistaken for being east asian. "wow! you're like.... ONE HUNDRED percent filipino!?" and when i was on vacation in the philippines back in 2011 people called me really pretty for my skin so i was like _wait... cuz im light???_ and thats when i noticed that they liked pale more than brown. i really dont get why. tanned skin is gorgeous, as well as every other tone.
Out of topic but am i the only one who think is so cool how filipino people change between english and their own language? Idk why tho, i just think is so nice that they have 2 official languages and they actually use them "together".
Then when you go to the southern part of the country, you get to hear people use 3 different languages in a single sentence since they also have their own native language separate from Filipino.
Baby yoda’s changing table it’s because having white skin in a rural based country means you don’t have to work rural jobs, stand in the sun for hours (like in japan, Korea, china etc); it means you’re part of the upper class In Ireland, it’s the other way around, because having tanned skin means you have enough money to go abroad for vacation, it’s a very common phenomenon in white countries; it means you’re part of the upper class Basically we all want to look « rare » and « unique » because we find « rare » and « unique » beautiful.
Yesterday I met an old lady said this to her granddaughter while pointing at me, "Look at her! She has a white skin, beautiful, right? Why're you so black?" I think her granddaughter under 10 years old. Why is she said that? She a little child that loves playing with her friends! There're many this kind of parents in my country.
Spaghetti your right it does go both ways but I’m just saying you never really know who knows if the person is lying or telling the truth but don’t just say that it doesn’t happen cause you don’t know. There millions of things that happen that we don’t know about but they happen.
i was just thinking about that... its a problem in india, china, the philippines, chile, mexico, peru, bolivia... literally in all asia and south america (hispanic countries)
I’m from Chile and I don’t think we have that problem. It’s like 50% white, 50% brownish, but we all are mixed anyway. It’s not really an issue, it’s not like someone is going to be discriminated based on their skin color
@@IsaFernandezP sorry but you are lying to yourself. Im mexican but im around all types of hispanics and one situation i will always rememeber was with a girl with parents from chile. I asked her if a certain guy was her brother because they literally look identical to each other when it came to features, just different skin and hair. In her own words she responded "yeah you wouldn't even tell because he is so much lighter than me and has really pretty light hair and im just morena(Brown)". You could tell how her mood went down immideatly and her confidence. It was obvious all her life her brother has been uplifted for his whiter color , while she's been insulted because of her skin color. Colorism is very strong in latin america no matter the country. Thats why countries like mexico and chile proudly claim their european side while trying to hide their imdiginous side. "Not discriminated by color" 😂😂😂 good one. Can't say im Mexican to a south american without them calling me india as an insult when y'all seleves are as much indian as me .
yeah, also im a lighter skin chinese and i feel really sad when i visit china and someone is like "wow I wish I could be as pale as you""your complexion is so nice, I'm just tan" (im not bragging, just sharing my experience)
omg i knew it you were filipina tbh I'm guilty of whitening my skin (and I did it for a dude), and when I got tan, he was slightly less happy about the results. I was delusional and didn't see that this was obviously problematic. The hard part about all of this is that wanting to be fairer than what you are naturally is internalized and intergenerational. My mom, lola and tita were all on board with wanting me to whiten myself even if I didn't really feel like me. Thanks for bringing this up.
@@kimseokjin1675 ty to you and everyone's kind words :'( I am in a much better place with myself almost a year since I got out of that relationship and have ditched the whitening products all together :)
facts and logic: people from different areas of the globe have different melanin levels depending on the amount of sun we humans, complete idiots: now hold up a minute
It's almost funny how long this has been an issue, not just for non-Caucasians, but this is the same exact thing that was going on in Europe and America for hundreds of years until the early 20th century. Lead face paints during the Medieval period. Arsenic creams from the Renaissance. Mercury peels during the Elizabethan era. Ammonia cleansers in the Victorian age. The least offensive whitening methods were probably crocodile poop in Ancient Rome and whale sperm during the Edwardian period. Skin lightening has to be one of the weirdest human obsessions out there.
@@MB-yl9hm im no historian, but during the victorian era it was a trend to be "pale" bc one wanted to be seen as frail (gee, even tuberculosis was considered trendy). talk about weird lol
There’s actually a quite reasonable theory explaining this phenomenon - back in agrarian societies, fair skin is being conflated with high social status since they’re free of outdoor labor. Emerging economies aren’t too far away from this history so it’s more likely that those aesthetic memories are retained. This also explains why tanning is in vogue in post-industrialized countries - at the end of the day, the society prizes high-maintenance stuff and look down on poor people. Very sad. I hope we can outgrow this mentality eventually.
we equate lighter skin with higher statuses because people who worked out in the sun got darker more tanned skin. While those who stayed indoors were lighter skinned.
"Alam mo, maganda ka sana, kaya lang maitim ka" (you know, you'd be pretty, but you're dark) that's what I constantly hear growing up. It took me years to accept and love my skin color, it didn't help that whenever I try to buy makeup, there's literally no shade dark enough for me.

HERE IN PHILIPPINES ARE FULL OF RACIST FUCKING PEOPLE!!!
I think right now, there is. Try to check the brands, Vice Cosmetics and colourette. They have foundations of various shades and I think they're also targeting customers with dark skin.
That girl saying the advertisers are trying to make people feel bad so that they'll buy their products is so right! They've created a market for a "problem" that isn't actually a problem AT ALL. It's all marketing to make people feel bad so they'll buy their products.
Those creams would be absolutely useless if they didn't make people fell bad for being tan. Meanwhile in Europe white people are going to the beach and buying products to tan smh All skin colors have their beauty uwu
As an asian who is brown, it amazes me how much i was annoyed with my skin color as a kid. And how much the elders say "wow you've got tanned" as a bad thing. As a grown up i know i wouldn't change my skin color for anything. Its my identity and i love it. I hope that the next generation wouldn't have to go through that "insecurity" i went through.
My parents still do the exact same thing, they’re trying to make me think that being darker is bad. It didn’t help that I used to live in an all white neighbourhood, I used to want to be like them so bad I drew myself as a white girl. Thankfully I have learnt to love my culture and country and I would never ever change it for anything.
@@suhshr735 wow. I guess it's worse for you being lived in a white community and your loved ones comparing you to them. I mean there is nothing wrong with being white ofcorse, but people comparing color of one another sucks. Colorism is such cancer. Happy that you are not like them, fam.
I feel the same, im not that brown, but every asian reference I would see in cartoon or tv was extremely white, it really made me feel less asian, even though I got my color from my japanese side

same here my dear I'm also black/filipino. They always telling me I should straight and use some whitening skin product to look pretty. At first I feel so insecure and got low self-esteem. But I've learned to embrace everything to me, because I know I was born beautiful with my own color :)
Why do we have to put too much emphasis on Beauty? Like PEOPLE, there's nothing wrong with being Ugly. It is not a Sin nor is it a Crime. There's 2 sides of a coin Beauty-Ugly I'm tired of We're all Beautiful mantras shit posts in social media That is Exactly is what is wrong! Focusing or putting too much emphasis on Beauty They say Embrace your Imperfections, Embrace your Curves but can't we do it with like .."Embrace Ugliness"
I dont get ponds, their "whitenings" smth product are promoted by kathryn and nadine, and they make them so pale in commercial when we know theyre actually tan.
I love this clariz I'm black and I love how you are speaking out on this. I come from the black community where we try to take action on situations just like this for us. Your the first person I've seen so far talking about this issue I've been witnessing against Filipinos. All the power to you!! I want you guys to all succeed. This issue is really bad, it's also something known as colorism. Just like us we were brainwashed to think we were ugly if you had darker skin than the lighter black people. However, since all of us know this, we focus more on uplifting each other rather than putting down one another on how they look. I feel like that's what's needed here. All Filipinos need to uplift one another to help with the brainwashing. I hate to see this type of self-hate in any ethnicity or culture.
My best friend is Filipino and has naturally dark skin, and let me tell you she is one of the prettiest people I know. She literally has the most perfect facial proportions. You have no idea.
This is so weird! I'm Finnish and we are white as snow here. Finnish (and actually like... All the white) people want to be brown! They sell tons of self-tanners here 😅 it is thought here that if you are white, you look somewhat ill (even though it's our natural skin tone). I guess it all comes to the fact that marketers want people to feel ugly and inadequate as they are, so that they would buy a lot of products to fight that. It's insane! I love your beauty critisism videos!
@@mrs.potatohead8471 Well, from my perspective, being very very pale. I'm often made fun of by people who use spray tan etc. For "looking like a ghost". Not saying it's as bad as over there with the bleaching. Just funny how people are never satisfied with their skin lol
@pink girl I'm not saying what looks good or not, but here in Europe people really appreciate a tan skin. Some women even use bad words and bash themselves by calling themselves 'sausage'. Like "I look like a sausage, I'm too white". Finnish people even buy self tanners so they would dare to wear shorts and skirts because it's EMBARRASSING to show white legs! You can't even go to the beach before you have had some tan on your skin. But definitely the bleaching of the skin is more ridicilous because it can be dangerous in the long run.
It doesn’t help that A LOT of older women like titas still believe this, and you already know they always have something to say like. That mindset have been set when the market and capitalism has pushed this unrealistic beauty standard that has been making $$$.
No offense to lighter Filipinos or other Asians but I always thought darker ones were the prettiest. Especially the ones with curly hair. They look so exotic and beautiful
Girl I feel you! Here in Mexico we have the same problem. if you have a white skin here you'll be better looking. When I was a kid I was kinda ashamed of my skin color, because people even laugh about having a dark skin, luckily I have grown, and I accept my skin now...
Hey! I'm from Mexico too. You gotta find comfort in knowing that most white mexicans are just not attractive. Of course it depends on personal preference, but white as the most important beauty standard has been shoven down out throats so much that I just can't bring myself to see it anymore. There's nothing attractive about the face of colonialism and blissful ignorance. Indigenous features glow here, they're at home. I'm so glad we're starting to wake up.
@@ieouams555 yess girl me too! Here in indonesia its like summer all the time 24/7 we have no such thing as cold weather like autumn or winter i have no idea how girls and women in my country manage to have our beauty standard as pale white like koreans or white people. Our tan skin is beautiful. Also the whitening creams turns the dark skin girls' into gray-ish :( thank god i never use them and our local makeup brands are evolving and they have larger foundation shade range for the very tan girls
colorism is so big in my culture I visited my native country this year and everyone had fair and lovely in their house or some type of whiting cream my mom even brought some back I remember them yelling at me every time I would go outside I would purposefully let my skin get tanner to piss them off
Im Filipino but i have fair skin. Whenever i go out they're like: "oH yOu'rE sO pREtTy,yOu'rE sO wHiTe" I know im not visually pretty but people calls me pretty just because i have fairer skin than some of most filipinos around me. @Surprise, Bitch ...American is a nationality Not a race, unless you’re speaking of Native Americans (like myself). Americans can be black, white, or Asian.
Yeah i think most countries with the preference for light skin had a history of wealthy having lighter skin. I know for sure a few countries are like that. But yeah
i live in greece...we are mostly white but during the summer we can get really tan...the idea that people are made to believe that their beautiful color of their skin is not enough is so shocking to me....please don’t bleach your skin stay the way you are and embrace your natural beauty ❤️
I'm a Filipino but half Dutch and I look more on the Dutch side so my skin is naturally very pale but it's sad to see Filipinos are making fun of each other for being tan and stuff while I'm here wanting to get tanner so people will stop calling me AMERICANO.
Im lightskin and my bestfriend is morena, and people often joke that we shouldn't be close to each other (proxemity not actual stopping our frienship) because it makes her look darker. And like, she's prettier than me. Others would literally say that "oh its a shame your tan." 😤😠
*I don't want to sound like a creep but I love Asians with darker skin and their natural features meaning no plastic surgery done on places such as eyes, nose etc. They just have really unique features and it saddens me they change it.*

Stop it dude. You do low key sound like a creep. 😂😂😂 You wouldn't believe how many old white men come to the Phils just to have a taste of brown girls. Your comment makes me think of them.
MORENA/TANNED/DARK SKIN GIRLS ARE EQUALLY BEAUTIFUL AS WHITE/PALE SKIN GIRLS. BEAUTY IS DIVERSITY♥️ Don't mind society's standard, they're just insecure of how beautiful you are and you, yourself should know your worth and set it up high. As you know you're worth it already then we should help those people who is also suffering from this kind of discrimination. Let's not bring down each other but help each of us in empowering our own worth. Remember you are GOD'S Masterpiece.💐♥️
Colorism is so prominent in south east asian countries and its not being talked about a lot. People just accepts it. Im from indonesia, my skin is naturally white so i never experienced it firsthand but my friends with darker skintones are being bullied into bleaching their skin and i think its sad.
I too am naturally fair-skinned from the Philippines, I got the color from my mom who is pure Filipina and even though I don't experience bullying for being dark, I would still get ultra-uncomfortable from people telling me I'm prettier because I'm whiter, especially from people who compare their color to me. They'll never believe me whenever I said that they're also beautiful in their own skin, they'll just think I'm saying that because I pity them or is obligated to. It truly hurts to hear things like that from my beloved countrymen.
Then you ain't Indonesian cuz Indonesian people are not pale , they r darker than any East Asian and East Asians are few shades darker than actual white dude so stop the cap
Omg yes I noticed this with pinoy celebs also in Thailand all most 90% of the actors look half white. Ethnic looks are pretty too. Tan or dusk skin is beautiful 😘
Yes girl! Im a Filipino and i've been in that phase that i want to have a lighter skin color but i learned to love my ACTUAL skin tone (morena) now and this is what i've been thinking... Finally someone said what i've been thinking. Gonna love what i trully am!
I am tired and depressed about every people i know being manipulated about how being fair/pale is much better and beautiful than being brown/black. And how they think that whatever a white person will wear is always gonna look good in them than being a brown person to the point that it can discriminate ppl and pit them down. Like srsly, fuck this nonsense standard
from my experience when i went to the philippines these little kids came up to me and told me i was beautiful and i was shocked, i asked them why they said that and they said cause i was fairer than them but from where i live (australia) everyone glorifies the tanner filipinos than me
I'm mixed white/filipina and live in Europe and always loved the bit of tan I got from my mom, and ofc wanted to be more tan. And I'm going to the Philippines this summer and my mom told me not to tan before coming there 🙄

I'm so happy that growing up as an Asian American in the USA that my dad pushed me to accept my tan skin. Of course in American being tan is "cool" and "trendy" if you're white, but not if you're mixed or foreign.
Love your content about beauty standards! Unfortunately, this happens all around the world. In my country it's the total opposite. Tanned and dark skinned people are praised, while natural light skinned people, like me, always hear things like "have some color" or "you should get tanned". Here being tanned and have a beautiful gold skin is the beauty trend 🤷🏻
thank you thank you for speaking on this topic it’s so important for the morena community to raise awareness for young brown girls that having dark skin isn’t any less beautiful than what is deemed as the beauty standard. It’s comforting to know we all share similar mindsets because growing up morenas were never really represented. We shouldn’t be ashamed for our skin tone and rather embrace our natural beauty. Who agrees?
I am a Filipina, and I live in Philippines. I have a tan skin. But I really love my own color just the way it is. I don't mind getting darker though, because I really love the sun. ♥ and I want to enjoy outdoors or whatever. My goal is just to keep it moisturized and clean. I always love to embrace my own unique filipina beauty.. ♥ always will. And I hope all the other women will embrace who they really are too.
I'm Filipino and I can really , really feel strong with this. I've been trying to lighten my skin since I was in elementary and I'm now a senior, I still see myself buying creams and bleaching soap to try and get much lighter skin. I feel so pressured and Everytime I look at my mirror I just see a brown ugly orange hue and I feel so insecure in my own skin. I wish I could stop but it's been so hard especially as years go by
*I always got told by my Filipino family to stay inside so I don't tan-- and my great lola literally called me white as a nickname-- *Colorism sucks no matter which side you're on, it's inherent objectification to be held to a beauty standard that requires you strictly moderate or _change_ your humanity *I love this video
8:40 It hurted me to listen this from Nadine, she is gorgeous just the way she is, I love her characters and she sings so beautifully. It breaks my heart to see how this affected her.
As another south east asian I can relate. At 10 I was already exposed and encouraged to use brightening/whitening facial cleanser. And as I grew up a little bit more, I tend to choose products that promotes this idea. Not just facial cleanser. Colourism is no joke. Even as a kid I got made fun of not just by kids my age but even adults. But thankfully as time passes, I got tired of trying out products in hopes of turning whiter/lighter and got sick of people making fun of my skin tone. Nowadays, I wear whatever colour I want depsite people saying darker skinned people dont suit it, take pride in my healthy skin and even chose to gave a presentation in my class about colourism to my very judgy lecturer.
so true and so sad. when i moved to the Phil to live with family as a teenager, i saw an eskinol whitening toner the first day in my family's yaya's bathroom- i was like oh that's weird, i guess they use it to get rid of sunburns or something?? boy was i naive and in for a shock...

When we went to the beach I became so tan and I LOVED it because I had never become that tan before, but then my parents Filipino family said that I should use these whitening facial wash, cremes, etc, so that I don't look "poor", but I refused because I was so confident.

Girl you’re gorgeous 😍 how exciting is that??? U will love it there! Will you tan or not? Haha
@@ClarizMarielle haha thank you!💕 YOU are gorgeous! And I'll probably end up tanning anyways cause I can't go all summer until August without doing so 😂 also I just think its so sad that the beauty standards are so harsh that you would feel the need to chemically bleach your skin..
i feel that, i want to get tanner
The 42 dislikes came from the companies selling whitening products, fair-skinned people, and people who have internalized racism
When I was a child, I was praised for my fairness, now that I spend more time out, my relatives often tell me that I'm not white anymore, it makes me feel really sad..
I even started to think that if I'm not white anymore, who's going to love me? I feel like if I'm not this type of color I'll be alone forever..
Anyway.. I'msorry for ranting, I've felt like this my entire life. It sucks..
Holly Wispy you are BEAUTIFUL. every skin color is beautiful and trust me im not saying this just to make you feel better, tan skin is BEAUTIFUL AND HOT. pale skin is beautiful too, dark skin is also so beautiful. we should embrace our skin color because its what makes us beautiful
Your entire life will be sucks as you give people the opportunity to decide for you.
Thank you for your support my lovely friends-
I agree that all colors are beautiful and should be viewed like that as well. I’m from Philippines too, which is why I can relate a bit from the video. I hope you guys are doing okay, thank you again for speaking up!
When i was soo tanned, people in my country (philipines) were so racist to me.
colorist* hindi racist, you're of the same race as filipino but they are referring to your skin color not race.
@@jake-sc8gh I'm actually haft. You dont know the full story.
@@jake-sc8gh They sometimes are referring to my race.
That’s colorism not racism
@@randomyoutubeuser9465 im haft japanese. They always say to me: go back to your country
Im personally not filipino myself but i am part of the southeast asian diaspora and I love you sm for making this video! Colorism is so rampant in the asian community and we need to start having discussions about it! Anyways youre gorgeous and I love your videos 💘
The less you look like a Filipino, the more you will be accepted by the Filipino society.
At yan ang totoo!!!
Everybody trying to look like Michael Jackson
😂😂
Jane Doe Deserves more likes 👏👏
He had vitiligo
He had a serious painful skin condition
Well, white women try to look like Trump
That "foundation shade" is so trueeeeeee. I never used a foundation that is in my own shade. I remember my freaking face on my elementary graduation and my face is like a crinkleeeeee. Nagmukha akong espasol behhhhh.
Proud to be morena hereeee!! 💗💗
I love this video so much. I feel so much solidarity with the other peoples also colonized by the Spanish and experiencing the fall out of colorism/shadeism and antiblackness as a result. Thank you so much for talking about it!!
Preach, sister.
Don't be ashamed of your skin color! You're beautiful just the way you are! Don't let beauty standards get to you, and feel proud of who you are! Whoever you may be. Whether you're from the Philippines or not.
You are beautiful and you don't deserve to be let down just because you don't meet the ‘beauty standards’ other people have set.
That's all 💕
Honestly, I'm light af for a Mexican. I've pasted for a white/Mexican or Mexican/Asian mix. I feel bad for my cousins, they've told me they want lighter skin. It's messed up, I honestly hope it'll change.
*I FEEL SO SAD WHEN OTHERS MOCK MY SKIN COLOR :,(*
@@lcvseok omygoshh 😭 thank you thank you thank you!! you are so kind, and i bet you are so pretty to 😍
4:09 its like that in thai shows and movies too, its really upsetting 😔
I'm not Filipino but I am South East Asian and the culture is almost identical.. During my Grandfather's passing, all my Grandma could say when she saw me was that "She's the Dark one." It's frustrating because we're all fricken Human Beings. STOP reducing people to the f*cking colour of their skin.
Same.... my brother is fairer than me and they see us as dark and white oO it’s so weird
@@ClarizMarielle Sorry to hear that, boo! You're beautiful inside and out. Their opinions don't matter :) I feel bad for them because it's such a toxic mindset
omg the companies are so sick
This is reality! I’m glad I never taught you to hate your skin color. Yet you still managed to feel insecure about it because of your surroundings. This just proves that there is a problem! Everything you said is true anak. And I am proud of you for speaking up
The girl who said "kasi maitim po ako" ..
I feel for her so much because she is so pretty as a morena. I hope one day she acknowledges that and becomes comfortable in her own skin
Omg thank you so much for posting this!
Here in Nepal we have the same problem. A lot of nepalis who live in Nepal use fair and beauty.
I live in a Scandinavian country and I’m nepali and since Facebook is a big thing for nepalis whenever my family posts a photo the comments are always “Wow so beautiful, so wHiTe”. Idk why most Asian countries don’t like their own skin color and want to be white. And it’s worse now cause some nepalis are naturally fair and they bully other kids just for their own skin color.
👏THIS👏VIDEO👏NEEDS👏MORE👏RECOGNITION👏
I'm so happy that growing up as an Asian American in the USA that my dad pushed me to accept my tan skin. Of course in American being tan is "cool" and "trendy" if you're white, but not if you're mixed or foreign.
Love your content about beauty standards!
Unfortunately, this happens all around the world. In my country it's the total opposite. Tanned and dark skinned people are praised, while natural light skinned people, like me, always hear things like "have some color" or "you should get tanned". Here being tanned and have a beautiful gold skin is the beauty trend 🤷🏻
Please dont stop with your beauty standard content!! its so eye opening
I'm morena and I have never thought my skin is lesser beautiful than people with white skin. I love my skin color.
thank you thank you for speaking on this topic it’s so important for the morena community to raise awareness for young brown girls that having dark skin isn’t any less beautiful than what is deemed as the beauty standard.
I wish I could stop but it's been so hard especially as years go by
This is the exact same problem in India.
The same thing is happening in INDIA majority of the people are brown skinned but the celebrities are pale especially the girls
*I always got told by my Filipino family to stay inside so I don't tan-- and my great lola literally called me white as a nickname--
*Colorism sucks no matter which side you're on, it's inherent objectification to be held to a beauty standard that requires you strictly moderate or _change_ your humanity
*I love this video
8:40 It hurted me to listen this from Nadine, she is gorgeous just the way she is, I love her characters and she sings so beautifully. It breaks my heart to see how this affected her.
You're so right! In Mexico it's the same as in Philippines
I’m Filipino & have naturally pale skin but I would loveee to have tan skin and look alive omg it looks so good on y’all
As another south east asian I can relate.
I didn't know yall had skin bleaching issues too.
so true and so sad. when i moved to the Phil to live with family as a teenager, i saw an eskinol whitening toner the first day in my family's yaya's bathroom- i was like oh that's weird, i guess they use it to get rid of sunburns or something?? boy was i naive and in for a shock...
