A series of quakes hit off the coast of Ishika in Japan, with one even reaching a 7.6 magnitude, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency.
The country issued a tsunami warning after the quakes struck, and Japanese public broadcaster NHK TV has warned that waves could reach as high as 16 1/2 feet.

comments like this make me believe you're in your late teens early 20s. At 28 you'll have seen and possibly experienced enough disasters to realize "scary" is actually normal. You'll have hopefully found a way to roll with the punches life deals every day. Now, earthquakes over 8.0, (boxing day earthquake, I was with family during christmas just watching the news when that came on. So many died that day. Due to earthquakes and a massive tsunami) huge volcanoes erupting, hurricanes going from cat 0 to 5 in 1 day (this happened last year actually), multiple long track ef 5 torandoes, droughts that last years, flash flooding for weeks, an unseen good sized asteroid exploding over a city, wildfire that burns a whole city(happened last year too), pandemic (this happened artificially, we still could have a natural one where few have resistance), etc. THOSE are "scary". Yet we continue to live and thrive.

I've got my neighbours living in my spare room, they've lost everything in the floods the Saturday after Jasper and it's looking like it's going t take about 2 to 3 months before landlord gets the insurance process is finished and they have a home to get back to. Broke my arm trying to help them evacuate, we got his profoundly disabled missus and her handbag to high ground, went back to get more and there was already 2 feet of water running through a house with a generator running on a workbench at the far end so we couldn't go back in, had to watch as the water rose another 6 feet in 3 hours and flooded it all.

That's video from the 2011 tsunami, this one was much smaller. From what I've seen water mostly didn't breech tsunami walls. The earthquake did a lot of damage though.

I have a very huge fear of tsunamis happening so im afraid to live near water i dont know how people in japan do it 😅 i hope theyre okay and evacuated!
From what I’ve seen this tsunami was much smaller than 2011’s and they were better prepared this time.
