Thanx for sharing this. Too many moms suffer alone in silence because they feel they will be ridiculed. I am one of them.
I am so sorry that you had to suffer alone ❤❤
More women need to share their stories like this. It's also our generation that makes it such a hard thing to be open about... bec it was such a hush hush thing or even more so
there was a "get over it" mentality. And so many women our age still carry this stigma around with them regarding depression. This stigma also makes
It harder to even understand and recognize depression. So videos like this help so many!!! 💛
Thanks, Linda Leigh 😘😘
You are so relatable. I totally get being more overwhelmed by the idea of medication than depression. I don't like that we label the woman ("postpartum depression" "mental health") when more focus is needed on a culture that all but abandons women for the crucial six weeks postpartum. We recognize that a newborn is fragile and needs special care in that "4th trimester" and weigh them and treat jaundice etc. but almost no attention is given to making sure women are well rested and well nourished when they have just spent nine months spending their own energy and nutritional stores growing a person and have gone through one of the most dynamic transitions a human can experience, giving birth.
I'm glad you eventually received the care you needed.
+Stacy Homemaker I completely agree with you ❤️❤️❤️
I suffered from ppd really bad after my first 2 children. after my second child, I was almost hospitalized. I lost my ability to eat and almost lost the ability to talk. I had to live with a friend for 24 hour care. my husband had to work and couldn't take care of me.. bless him, he struggled so bad with leaving me. so thankful I didn't have any with my last 2 kids.
I am so sorry that you had such a difficult experience ❤❤ Thank you for sharing your story.
too many years of not being rational, thank you ppd! thank you. I need to do my story.
Thanks, Trish. I hope you'll share your story as well ❤️
Thanks for sharing your story! ❤️ That must've been such a shock to get it with your fourth when you hadn't gone through it before!
Thanks. Everything about that sweet boy was and is a shock. He is a mystery to us. We love him to pieces, but he is definitely a challenge, but a sweet, sweet challenge. ❤

Thanks, Megan. This was really hard to share. I learned a lot of placenta encapsulation AFTER, unfortunately. I am so glad it helped you. ❤
I admire you so much for sharing your story. Depression is not an easy subject to talk about but the more people put a voice to the disease, the less power it holds over ourselves and others who also suffer or will suffer. Interesting the connection with vitamin D. Since starting THM, I've started upping my D intake via supplements. In our area, breastfeeding moms are advised to give babies a double dose of D because we just get so little sunlight. I spend 90% of the week indoors and it's not uncommon to not leave my house for two weeks at a time. I actually wanted to get Shane and I tested for vitamin d deficiency. Anyways, all that to say, I was recently super sluggish, tired and not myself. I realized tonight I hadn't taken my vitamins in a couple of weeks. Took some today and then saw the correlation on your video. I suffered severe depression as a child into teenage-hood. It's a crippling thing. I think I'll keep extra mindful of my D intake from here on out. 💕
+SweetlyHome - Mandi Thanks ❤️❤️ Yes, definitely keep taking it. It is so important, especially for women.
I love that you shared your story. We mamas go through so many struggles without being able to share - for fear of cracking the "perfect mom" image, judgment from our friends/family, or even just acknowledging the difficulties ourselves. Thank goodness you had a generous and giving midwife that extended a ready hand when you needed it. It is so important to reach out for medical help - often, it can be significantly helped by regulating your body or by talking to someone outside your daily life. I love you, my friend. Thank you so much for sharing.
Thanks, sweet friend ❤
gosh i feel so blessed to know you! this motherhood thing is such a journey and it is a major blessing to come across those who are willing to share and encourage. its funny, because as i sit and listen to you tell your story with such poise and looking all beautiful :)... i can still feel the realities behind your experience and can relate SO MUCH. Love you Lady!!!!
+Faith & Love Academy {Our Homeschool Journey} ❤️❤️ Thank you! I am so blessed to have met you! I've just learned how to hold it together. If I ever really got super emotional on camera, I would know that something is really wrong. 😢 I don't like crying in front of people. Never have ❤️❤️
I want so badly to be that kind of friend that will drop everything and be there for you.
Thank you SO SO SO SOOOOO much for posting this! Thank you!
❤❤ You are wonderful! I am so glad that you shared the video that YOU did. Great minds 😉
Thank you so much for sharing your story, Michelle! I experienced ppd after my 7th and my midwife prescribed vitamin d and b complex. It's a real thing! And women being open about it will hopefully help to dispel any shame or guilt that goes with it! ❤
Thanks, Elizabeth ❤️ I take vitamin B as well as a few other things. I'm glad you were able to get help!
Thank you so much for sharing. PPD is hard 'cause there's so many emotions going on all that it's hard to know the line between new mom and PPD. And it take a super strong support system to recognize and intervene. I'm hoping that through all this awareness that people will be prepared before rather than after the fact.
Exactly! That is the reason I decided to sit down and fill this. I didn't realize how bad it was until it was really bad. I kept making excuses. ❤️❤️
thank you so much for sharing this story, Michelle. This was very brave of you to be open and honest and share this experience. this is a huge thing that happens to a lot of women and it is great that they have an opportunity to hear your experience and get help before it is too late! thank God He protected you and that you are here to tell others to reach out! 💜
+Momma Schmooze Reviews Thanks Lindsay! ❤️❤️
Thank you for sharing your story. I had severe postpartum depression after my first and second. I just had my 5th in 6 years. I have clinical depression, so if I ever get overwhelmed i call the crisis hotline for our area. so far I have not had anything extreme as I did with my first two. I try to leave my house but if I cant, I set outside and take a breather.
I wish I could reach through the computer and give you a hug ❤ I am so relieved that you have the strength to call the crisis hotline. I find that getting outside helps a lot, too. I still do that to this day.
I applaud your bravery in tackling and addressing this issue. I experienced a miscarriage a few months ago, and while I haven't experienced any depression with that or with the birth of my first child, I believe so strongly in sharing our stories with other who may be struggling. You Tube is a great format for that and your video can certainly help someone who is experiencing depression. Thank you so much for sharing!
I am so sorry for your loss ❤ Thanks for your encouragement.
I have also had ppd... Never diagnosed but I did have super low vit. d and I was struggling probably from some anxiety because I never wanted to leave the house or drive any where.
I can completely relate to that. I take a high dose of Vit D every day. When I forget, I can tell pretty quickly because the anxiety creeps back in.
GOD bless you! Thank you for sharing your story!
+Jenny Ruth Thank you ❤️
My youngest is 3. I am feeling better but I still think I should go to a Dr.
PPD can last years and can actually start later than most people think. You should definitely talk to a Dr. ❤
I'm struggling did you also feel restless and agitated?
❤
