- • A Night at the Rijksmu...
First broadcast: 18 Apr 2013.
Andrew Graham-Dixon goes behind the scenes at the Rijksmuseum as the staff prepare to open the doors following a ten-year renovation, the most significant ever undertaken by a museum. Featuring over 8,000 works of art, Holland's national museum tells the story of 800 years of Dutch history and houses a world-famous collection including masterpieces by artists from Vermeer to Rembrandt. So, as the final paintings are rehung and objects settle into their new home, has the long wait been worth it?
The Dutch people showing up to applaud & accompany The Night Watch as it returns to its home is absolutely wonderful. Impossible not to whoop & cheer along with them.
The way people react when that huge painting slowly rolls down the street it does say something about the power of art and its ability to reach to the higher spirit of human beings.
REMBRANT...... such Courage such Audacity....
Wounderful: My late grandfather was Dutch maybe that's why I love Rembrants work...RIP ✝️
it's much appreciated how moved the host becomes letting us into The Night Watch in a brief, fresh take, thank you
My god this is my favorite part. The sunflower 3D model is just, stunning, amazing. Thank you so much!
....You must be an Amsterdammer...(^V^)
For sure, this has been my favorite spot of the city that I love. Heerlijke plek! Love this series as I have watched it for so many times now.
It's a tragedy ppl who own rembrandt paintings say the paint chips off coz it's so thick .
1982 or something with a schooltrip, was the first and last time I have seen it.
Top! Quels souvenirs! Quel musée! Rambrant mélangeait des fibres à sa peinture? Il n a jamais ete egale pour ce qui est de représenter les sentiments des personnes!
Fascinating.
When he watches the Night Watch being craned about, he sounds just like Alan Partridge. :)
08:06 to 08:26 Perhaps the most loved museum in Paris, and the one closest to the French 'identity', is the Musée D'Orsay, not the Louvre. Perhaps.
At 4.40 TU DELFT is to be seen. Was TU DELFT a part of this, please?
The X-Ray and 3D-scanner researcher he interviewed is from the Technical University Delft
He goes on a bit about the 3 d thingy, bit too much
And PHILIPS advertising?
John K Lindgren Philips did the led lighting and all of the individual lighting of all the objects. They deserved their free advertisement 😉
The BBC ass depicted the 3D reconstruction to Arizona!!! Omg!! Then the DELFT guy fixed it, “maybe like mars”!
What make Mars better than Arizona? They’re just impressions. Your outrage is humorous. DELFT? Delft.
