I think MK11's Johnny Cage in Spanish having full voice clips unused also count. For context, for MKX, Johnny had a different VA and when it came to MK11, the VA got replaced for mentioning that he would be Johnny again on a fan convention. Warner took this as a leak and they fully replaced him with a different voice actor at the very last minute (like 3 months before the game's release). It appears that the previous VA recorded all his clips before being replaced, as in the native version of the Switch version with no updates has his battle dialogue and fatalities with the old VA's voice, as well as the full final game leaving one story scene with the old VA by accident getting replaced in an update. Nobody has uploaded a video with the in-game clips outside of the story mode cutscene.
It's hilarious that Daniel Southworth (the voice actor for Devil May Cry's Vergil) can accidentally reveal that Devil May Cry V was currently in production like four or five years before the game released, but Mario Castañeda just says "oh yeah I'm playing Johnny again" really late in MK11's development and he gets kicked out.
There was also an unreleased character for MK4 named Belokk, a red demon who was featured in a game magazine with just a single screenshot of him. There is also an incredible amount of unfinished quests, references, and unusable items in MK Deception Konquest.

That's the reason it would be pointless to dump the ROMs. Since the servers are dead, Wavenet features would not be on the game. It would play as regular 1.2 revision of UMK3. Some people who actually played it in Chicago back then told me.

I still remembered I preordered MKX for PS3 since hadn’t had a PS4 during that year but since the ports were cancelled and yeah never got a refund by that……
I remember a few years ago I saw a video about some lost things in deception. One of the things that creeped me out the most was something called The Lobster. Sounds stupid I know but something about it just sent a chill down my spine. The Lobster was not a lobster, believe it or not. It was supposed to be in the konquest if I remember correctly. It was so wacky. If only I could find that video again.
The E3 demos of the 3D games are a dream of mine to have access to. All three seem like they were MUCH different from the finish products which make it so much more interesting to play
The differences between the final games and the E3 games are not that major, in Deadly Alliance it's most apparent because a lot was unfinished in the original demo from models to animations to stages to even sound, Mavado had a different model and Hsu Hao was probably still called Kublai Khan with a different model as well, but Deception and Armageddon were much closer to the final revisions, the only noteworthy thing about Armageddon's demo is that it MIGHT'VE still had beta weapons for Taven intact Konquest mode, as they were almost completely deleted in release.
RIP the ps3 version of MKX. I remember being annoyed because I had pre-ordered MKX and Dying Light for ps3 and both of their ports got canceled in the same year
The story of MKX's cancelled PS3 & Xbox 360 ports worries me as I feel like SF6's PS4 port is gonna get cancelled, there are 2 months left & we still haven't seen anything of it yet, also you forgot to talk about MK Fire & Ice, the cancelled Shaolin Monks sequel, that had Scorpion & Sub-Zero as the game's protagonists!
I knew about MKX coming to the PS3 and was super excited because a PS3 was the only thing I had, then I was super disappointed when the PS3 port was cancelled
There IS the rumor that MK: Annihilation was supposed to have a post credits scene where Quan Chi shows up to tease the next movie based on MK4. Makes some sense since Shao Kahn's dad was credited as Shinnok but I haven't been able to see any footage that didn't come from Mythologies or Conquest.
It's not just a rumour, the scene was actually filmed. IIRC the actor for Quan Chi was from Thailand, and didn't understand a word of English, so he just stands there menacingly as Shinnok monologues. You can find pictures of the scene online.
I knew about all of these except for Wavenet MK3, and that blew my mind. I think the most likely way we'll ever see that is if somebody like Galloping Ghost Arcade get a hold of it. It is definitely out there in the hands of some collector, and I hope it does come to light to see what UMK3 could have been like with another revision. Great content as always of course!
Sadly, even if someone dumped the ROMs or crank up a Wavenet board, it would be regular 1.2 revision of UMK3, as the Wavenet features were only accessible when going online through Midway servers back then.
@@Lea-bz9be no, according to people in Chicago who played it, the balancing features were only accessible through the T1 connection, which sort of pinged Midway HQs. So even if it was a Wavenet machine back in 1997, it there was no internet connection, it would be regular 1.2
@@Lea-bz9be well, I never played it. But the people who told me that, were known players back in the Chicago area during late 90s, like Moe "30W" and Lex.
I want to see the originally-planned MK8 that was supposed to continue after Armageddon that was “gears of wars inspired”, “bleak and gritty”, and “back to basics” instead of MK vs DC.
I actually pre ordered MKX for the 360, about a month later i got a text from my bro about it being cancelled. Never did get my $5 back, and I'm glad I didn't pay into it any further bc I lost the receipt lmao
It’s kinda funny that they cancelled the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of MKX due to inadequate quality and yet they decided to go through with releasing the awful switch version of MK1 now.
I hope they're creative enough to set it in the past during the first Kung Lao's tournament. I doubt it'll happen though, it'll just be MK 1-3 all over again.
That reminds me, I remember years ago hearing about "Mortal Kombat Duo" but nothing came of it. I don't know what it was, exactly, either. I also vaguely recall seeing some sort of MK screenshots in a magazine as a kid that looked a bit different from the finished game but... I dunno about that ont.
As a kid, I was one of the rare people who had a 3DO. I remember being so hyped for the 3DO version of UMK3 after I saw it announced in an issue of Game Pro. Decades later, here I am still waiting 😭
I remember there beeing gamescom footage where they showed MK vs DC Joker doing the gun fatality on Kitana and it had a different death animation. In the final uncensored European version it was changed to be much more tamer.
Do you think the guys over at Galloping Ghost Arcade might know anything about the Wavenet UMK3? They are located really close to Midways old offices and the actors who were digitized for the games show up there pretty frequently.
Wavenet......So Fascinating, could you imagine playing online... UMK... In the arcades..... In the fuckin 90's !?!? That could have been beyond rad dude
How about a PS1 port of UMK3? The only disc based port is the Sega Saturn one, and it's noticeable that the ninjas had a different font name. They must have discarded in favor of doing MKTrilogy.
Someday, that a Wavenet arcade cabinet or board of either MK3 or UMK3 is sitting around in some warehouse somewhere in San Francisco or Chicago for someone to dump. Also, the reason that the DLC roadmap for MK Vs DCU was cancelled was because of Midway's financial troubles during the mid to late 2000s and their eventual bankruptcy in 2009, and of course Warner Bros. buying most of Midway's assets including Mortal Kombat.
should have mentioned : Mortal Kombat - Ice and Fire ( Shaolin Monks 2 ) Mortal Kombat 8 ( it was planned before MKvsDCU but eventually it was cancelled and made into MKvsDCU) Mortal Kombat 11 : Ash Williams DLC
This might be a silly question but who is narrating here? Idk if it’s ketchup or mustard cause I’m just getting into the MK competitive scene, love the video just wanna say whoever is narrating is killing it
I remember being disappointed that mkx wasnt gonna be on ps3 since i didnt have a ps4. Looking back im glad it didnt happen. Would've been interesting at least.
Have you tried asking Ed Boon about Wavenet? Like the actual balance features, performance, any pictures or videos he may have in his basement lol. It would surprise me if he didn't document anything about it. This was a nice video btw
Also, like the lost media beta footage of Sub Zero MKM. It had the cut Rocky stair level, flying monks on the wind level and unsed cut scenes. You can see some of that on the first trailer for the game.
I have a possible piece of lost media. It was a hot wheels game that you could play on your phone, i don’t know about other platforms than mobile. It was a 2d like racing game that was like those old car parking games you would play on the web when you were a kid or something, with the iconic top down camera view but instead of parking cars, you are racing hot wheel cars. The control scheme was some sort of wheel on the left side of the screen, and then the pedals (either had both brake and gas or just gas my memory is fuzzy). It was quite old, roughly from 2013-2014 or something. You collected hot wheel cars by completing levels i think. I think there were boosters on certain tracks that made your car go faster, and there may or may not have been power-ups to screw over your opponent’s. I think i played it on an iphone 5 when i was little. I downloaded on the app store so it clearly was not some web browser game (or maybe it was, web browser games can become apps you can get on phones). I forgot the name of the game, it was like hot wheels racing among those lines or something different than that.
I thought I was crazy whenever I hear about like Wavenet version of MK3. Like, that sounded pretty revolutionary for the time. It's always odd like there's not much documentation when it comes to online play stuff. Like with Kaillera, Korean SFA3 and the fan made Street Fighter Online. It's so bizarre.
I imagine not dumping them would have been a STRICT instruction upon owning one or something, and to be honest, I respect the dedication after all those years if that's the case. I wonder how much of it would even work as Im sure those servers are LONG dead by now.
@@PNDKMYeah he has access to all equipment to dump the chips and he knows the community wants to see them but I guess he is just holding on to them. @@zenvultra I'm TotalMK mate, the first MK UA-camr on here, been talking MK since 1999 online, have met devs and interviewed them... I have no reason to make anything up and even Ketchup and Mustard know that, but what ever floats your boat pal. lol.
Even though it has definitely always been there since it's release date, Mortal Kombat Mobile is such an obscure and weirdly underground game that I cant help but wish an mk content creator talked about it, there's so many hidden details and thought put into it that I would love to help out in understanding the world that is lost media to me (of course, there's always that terrible side since it's a free mobile game, like the devs milking items and characters to be pay to win and how it's unbalanced most of the time).
I remember the 360/ps3 version of MKX. Was initially planning on getting that at the time and even remember a few screenshots of the 360 port, but once things went silent, and cancelation was expected, I just got MKX with my xbox one
"Sttyker's infinite combo gets interrupted by a message from the developers" sounds fictitious, but believable as gossip from the sillier days of Internet discussion of video games, with hidden ninjas of every color in online guides. It's possible WaveNet saw revisions, but I'd take hindsight-driven legends with a grain of salt.
If this video gets any kind of part 2, don't forget that Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks was supposed to have a Remaster for XBOX360 and a sequel with Scorpion and Sub-Zero as the main characters, called Mortal Kombat Fire & Ice
The wavenet days are pretty much lost to time now. Most of those lemonheads quit MK after it went 3D so those who was there aren’t active anymore. Now MKx, 11 and eventually 12 has so much competition it’s a different era but wavenet will live in our hearts. In the end we got online just that the 90s wasn’t there yet to pull that off tbh.
The Xbox 360 and PS3 would have used the E3 version of the game by reducing the graphics and the frame rates but the fatalities and x-rays were causing a problem and if they released it then it will make it a bad port that's why they cancelled it. I also remember that the Wii U version had an Injustice Gods among US port of the game that no one is talking about.
Did I know MKX was supposed to also be on the PS3 and 360? Oh yes! I remember that because, at the time it was announced in summer 2014, I didn't have a PS4 or XB1 so I just assumed I would be playing on my PS3. Then in October 2014, I got a new job and ended up buying a PS4 after only working there for 2 or 3 weeks. I think right after I bought it, it was announced that the PS3 and 360 ports of MKX were being delayed. Of course, I didn't care about previous gen ports anymore. Unfortunately, not everyone got the memo about the delays. I went to pick up my MKX pre-order on the day it came out as soon as GameStop opened. When I was at the register to pick it up, there was a guy at the register next to me asking the cashier for MKX on the PS3 (or 360, I don't quite remember which). That guy was so disappointed when the cashier had to break the news to him. Too bad for him. He looked like he had a whole evening planned out that just got ruined.
Love these videos, I honestly thought we were about to watch a video about lost MLG footage and lost CW Chasing the cup footage . Both are impossible to find. Video idea for ya 😊
Would love to get a copy of Mortal Kombat 9 on PC but unfortunately since it is de listed I can only rely on shady key resellers and frankly I'm not chancing that.
I always knew mkx was meant to be for the 360 as well, The graphics were like in a middle point between xbox 360's late high end graphics and xbox one graphics, the graphics literally felt like injustice
Not to be the "uh, actually" guy, but isn't lost media stuff that was once available/seen/experienced, but now it's not available anymore? Like, MK3 Wavenet Edition fits that, but all others are more into the beta/cut content area
No. Lost media is anything known to exist or to have existed that is no longer accesible or downright doesn't exist anymore. Quan Chi and Harley were said to be almost complete, which means that their movelists, character models, portraits, etc. are known to exist and were fully usable in-game, but since they were never released, they're considered lost. Same thing with the MKX PS3/Xbox 360 port: from what we know, High Voltage *did* get MKX "working" on the PS3/Xbox 360, albeit in a dissapointing state. Therefore, the unfinished port is also lost, as it is known to exist. Same thing with the early Special Forces builds, but luckily we have the prototype iso now.

I remember being annoyed because I had pre-ordered MKX and Dying Light for ps3 and both of their ports got canceled in the same year
I was so sad!
After a long hard day at work I picked a great time to get on UA-cam!!! Thanks man!!
I love when Kortal Mombat post :D
I'd love to see footage of MKX's PS3 and Xbox 360 versions. I've been curious about what it looked like for years
I don’t understand why they didn’t release it on those consoles. They didn’t have issues releasing a comprised version of 11 for Switch.
@@LakesideAmusementPro They probably couldn't get the game to run in an acceptable quality without serious downgrades
@@Kanzuki It was going to need downgraded anyway for the platform. But if it could have been MK9 quality at least, I'd have been happy.
4:23 Oh how history repeats its self.
From what I remember, those were screen caps from Conquest.
@@ninjagrinder but the balancing features should be on the rom.... Right ? I mean that should be a core game feature not online wavenet
@@Lea-bz9be no, according to people in Chicago who played it, the balancing features were only accessible through the T1 connection, which sort of pinged Midway HQs. So even if it was a Wavenet machine back in 1997, it there was no internet connection, it would be regular 1.2
@@ninjagrinder 🤔 thats weird ... You got some good intel bru
Same for me! Gutted
i've seen a lot of mk lost media videos but i never heard of mk3 wavenet edition before this one
It’s kinda funny that they cancelled the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of MKX due to inadequate quality and yet they decided to go through with releasing the awful switch version of MK1 now.
B-but gaming on the go 🥺🥺🥺
PNDKM 4 LIFE , can't wait for mk12 they better bring the cyborgs back. Time to watch the vid 😎
I hope they're creative enough to set it in the past during the first Kung Lao's tournament. I doubt it'll happen though, it'll just be MK 1-3 all over again.
I just want Reptile
That reminds me, I remember years ago hearing about "Mortal Kombat Duo" but nothing came of it. I don't know what it was, exactly, either.
I also vaguely recall seeing some sort of MK screenshots in a magazine as a kid that looked a bit different from the finished game but... I dunno about that ont.
As a kid, I was one of the rare people who had a 3DO.
I remember being so hyped for the 3DO version of UMK3 after I saw it announced in an issue of Game Pro.
Decades later, here I am still waiting 😭
Shout out high voltage software, had a job interview there years ago but didn't get the job
I heard a rumor that Doc Mack has the board in his possession but I don't know how true that is.
Even if they had the board and turn it on, it would be regular UMK3. Rev 1.2.
Wavenet features were only accessible when going online back then
I remember seeing the Render for Quan Chi and Harley in MKDC and getting so excited! Perhaps the Quanfather would have existed years before intended..
With the lost mkx ports, i can even go a step further to say that i actually pre-ordered it for xbox 360 until it was cancelled
As did I - devastated
Awesome idea for a video, keep up the great content guys.
@OfficialPNDKM Lmfao screw off
2:06 - Oh I most certainly do. 'Scuse me for a moment....... _(screams into a pillow)_
I remember the preorder for PS3 MKX and had the pre-order card that would've been redeemed. Wish I hadn't tossed that little piece of MKX/PS3 history.
As of today we can add Pikamee to the list of lost media.
I think Kung Lao and Doomsday were also planned as DLC for MK vs. DC.
This is an interesting video . Thank you for sharing this
should have mentioned :
Mortal Kombat - Ice and Fire ( Shaolin Monks 2 )
Mortal Kombat 8 ( it was planned before MKvsDCU but eventually it was cancelled and made into MKvsDCU)
Mortal Kombat 11 : Ash Williams DLC
Also I believe it was the Harley Batman Beyond Skin posing in the graveyard that I saw for her render
I have a poster of mkX characters that has erron black twice but one is more of a concept with Salazar as the name. Poster is not a copy
I'm always glad when I get to watch a new K&M video for dinner lol
Have you tried asking Ed Boon about Wavenet? Like the actual balance features, performance, any pictures or videos he may have in his basement lol. It would surprise me if he didn't document anything about it. This was a nice video btw
moronforty years oldvirgin, ed boon doesnt care about that stuff, hes a business man, only lifeless like you would attempt to ask him that
my dad pre-ordered the ps3 port of mkx, but since it got axed, we didnt get to play it for a very long time and i played newer mk games way less
Also, like the lost media beta footage of Sub Zero MKM. It had the cut Rocky stair level, flying monks on the wind level and unsed cut scenes. You can see some of that on the first trailer for the game.
Would you consider Ash Williams being lost media?! The game even accidentally revealed him but he never appeared 🤔
It 100% has lost media assets at least, considering all KP1 characters had a slot in the game planned and some had even dialogue including "Ash"
Now we'll never see Keith David's Spawn interacting with the one and only Bruce Campbell.
Truly, a damn shame.
I know someone who has the UMK3 Wavenet roms, but he hasn't dumped them.
I have seen a picture posted from his site before it was removed, he was shocked I knew he had them as I found the images. I believe I showed them in my Mortal Kombat Chicago Tour video.
Source: Trust me bro
@@zenvultra I'm TotalMK mate, the first MK UA-camr on here, been talking MK since 1999 online, have met devs and interviewed them... I have no reason to make anything up and even Ketchup and Mustard know that, but what ever floats your boat pal. lol.
@@TotalMK It could be true but you know… proof and all that
watching this now and seeing them say they didn’t like the quality of mkx on ps3 and Xbox is crazy because literally look at mk1 on the switch
You definitely need to make a part two. You missed the liu kang spinoff for gods sake!!!!!
Jokes aside great video as always from you.
I remember the 360/ps3 version of MKX. Was initially planning on getting that at the time and even remember a few screenshots of the 360 port, but once things went silent, and cancelation was expected, I just got MKX with my xbox one
Babe wake up Ketchup/Mustard uploaded a new video
Mk3 for the Atari Jaguar, announced and highlighted in gaming mags but never released. It played a factor in my purchase of the console.
Lol Jax' traps at 1:32. Impressive
I still like to think there's an arcade build of MK Trilogy out there (forgotten in some former Midway employees basement) but I doubt it.
Jax looks like michael b jordan stung by bees 1:27
Love these videos, I honestly thought we were about to watch a video about lost MLG footage and lost CW Chasing the cup footage . Both are impossible to find.
Video idea for ya 😊
Surprised Bellok for MK4/MKG didn’t make the list.
^ “I’m not like these other Scam Likely’s, I’m Scam For Sure.”
I was bummed about MKX not dropping on 360. I was broke asf back thenchaha.
Does the MK3 on DS have the updates of wavenet?
Kano at 9:55 looks identical to Chavo Guerrero Jr.
Identical.
MKX “healthy” online player base? In my best Kotal voice “You disappoint me!” 🤣🤣
... An exclusive version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3...
I'm now curious about what happened...
Would love to get a copy of Mortal Kombat 9 on PC but unfortunately since it is de listed I can only rely on shady key resellers and frankly I'm not chancing that.
Go sailing the high seas
I always knew mkx was meant to be for the 360 as well, The graphics were like in a middle point between xbox 360's late high end graphics and xbox one graphics, the graphics literally felt like injustice
Ermac in MK1 (lost media very rare footage)
scarlet in mk2
Nononono mkx isnt 8 years old... right?
MKX for Xbox 360 and PS3 was the last time I ever did a pre-order.
The games never existed and I never did another pre-order.
Would the live show be considered lost media also?
What about Ash in MK11, I always thought he was in the bag
