It has been a while since I made a vaguely topical video. So I made one about Minecraft parody songs for some reason. I'm just really fascinated by the fact CaptainSparklez has "TNT" has more views than "Dynamite". I'll have a more bizarre, historical video out next week for the Patreon poll video. (Still working on the "Magma" video as well). Should be interesting!
Thank you for explaining something that I wasn't able to put into words when describing my nostalgia for minecraft: Alpha-era minecraft was surreal and lonely, you were Robinson Crusoe in a Salvador Dali painting. Current-era minecraft is populous and alive, and most of the sense of surrealism and isolation is gone. It no longer feels like Myst and now feels more like Lego Island or something. And sure maybe kids will like the new version more but I always enjoyed the vibes that the older versions had. I'm also an adult now so a literal kids game doesn't really appeal to me that much anymore
About that gunpowder question, there was a sense back in the day that, like you mentioned, the character was stranded in the minecraft environment. So gunpowder would have been familiar, and of course there have been mods that add all sorts of weapons.
I think all of us longtime Minecraft fans like to look back to the "good ol days" but I think I speak for almost everyone when I say, Minecraft updates are so vastly superior than sequels and paid DLC and I hope it stays that way forever.
I'm 21, grew up watching those amvs unironically and TLOS still fills me sense of pure unfiltered wonder I rarely see anywhere today, but I disagree that it's (only) the internet that changed to be more ironic and cold. I think it's part of aging. I still find kids with the same shitty avatars we had back in the day and no doubt they feel what I did. Most cringy deviantart art is just children's drawings made digital and everything is magical as a kid. You aren't missing the old internet, you're missing being a kid.
I disagree, much of the internet is now monetized and the success of a given piece of media is reliant on pleasing a black box algorithm. There's less room for creativity in a world where everything has to be the same
1:40 in the wave of music parodies "I just found Diamonds" released. Now, only like a year ago I incidentally hear the original, and yeah... That is whiplash with fond block game memories mixing with those lyrics
It's just like saying "no u" came and went and then in around 2017-ish if I remember correctly came and went. Not even Rickrolling is different from that. People have been doing that since 2006(At least that's what I once read).
The main issue with the term "triggered" is that it's a semi-official term used for PTSD. While it is a popular term in modern semi-jargon, it's also an example of psychological terms being misused by people that don't properly understand them. That sort of things sticks around for a while. Take the term "retard" as an example. It was meant to be a fairly classy term that couldn't be misused, but the casual ignorant public still managed to misuse it. Now there are people that think they using the label in a way that makes sense, even though they have no idea as to what the proper standards are for diagnosing an "intellectual disability." That riles up my inner Bachelor's Degree in Psychology earning self.
Things are in a constant process of change, we only claim they remain the same because most of these changes are imperceptible, but things are never the same upon a second observation, we as human being create a feeling of continuity because its useful, its evolutionary, but we atribute most things with a general identity, core vague elements that make up these things, but they never remain the same.
New updates to Minecraft alternate between being release first in Java or Bedrock. Bedrock got deep snow first while Java got Amethyst Geodes first for example.
Minecraft Bedrock seems to be the main version simply because people can play it on phones and consoles. But on PCs, Minecraft Java is the main version, because is anti-gamer (aka. anti-consumer).
I'm a day late and this video only has 1k views. Despite that, this is honestly one of my favorite channels. I'm sure it'll get more recognition eventually.
Which Minecraft is the real Minecraft? I think there are multiple Minecrafts. Minecraft b1.7.3, Minecraft 1.7.10, Minecraft 1.12.2 and Minecraft 1.18.2 are like crocodiles, alligators and caimans. They look similar on the surface, but are certainly different animals.
I paid for THIS!? *Shakes fists at young people* Thanks for making me feel old zoomer! I was in my mid 20s when I first played the first pre-classic version. So early Notch had dev updates on 4chan and TIG, and getting the DL link was obtuse, due to the way you paid the guy. I don't remember exacts, I just remember it being odd. It was barebones, physics sometimes gave up the ghost, and it crashed, a lot! You kids these days with your stable engines, and your endgames!
perhaps comparing minecraft to a static object with preconceived ideas and goals like a ship and it use as a traversal tool is mistaken. look instead at it as if it was one of our "living" creations like language. language is constantly evolving and permuting things that are trendy to say at one point might be considered poisonous to a conversations flow by being cringe and get dropped. examples i can think of in gaming are yeet, teabag and plenty of other words/phrases that are specific to each games community. for example in DRG you can do a salute with your pickaxe and say some variant of rock and stone this simple gesture acts as a catch all between thanks, sorry, elation, salute, congratulations, and a high five. all this derived from saluting with a pickaxe and saying "rock and stone!". if you wanted more proof of languages evolution look at how nearly unreadable to the average person shakespeare's original unedited plays are. An Alternate example is how some languages like estonian and polish you still sound vaguely intelligible albeit very drunk or like your mentally unwell to a speaker in the opposite language.

Ok
Sometimes I miss old minecraft's very lonely feel but then I renember my boats being capsized by lillypads and squids....sometimes change is good lol
Rose colored glasses and all that.
10 years online is the equivalent to 100 years in the real world, it sounds ridiculous but it's very true the internet moves fast

You're right. Pseudiom was probably lost in his thoughts while missing the real point - he grew up
That’s funny I’m the same age and remember thinking they were gay asl at that age

Be wary of Nostalgia, she is made of the same stuff Lorelei and the Sirens are made.
"Runescape videos, or the primordial ooze of youtube"
Oof that hurt
alt title: "This is how growing up feels like: Minecraft Edition"

You're right, no one says "teabagging" anymore. That, honestly gives me hope. I'm hoping the word "triggered" will die off.
It all comes and goes then will come and go again.

There was this “every other beat” style remix that featured that one Usher song mashed up with its Minecraft parody. Loved that one a lot

appreciate this video. keep it up
Will do, chief.
Been having a terrible week. Definitely needed to unwind and watching this helped. Ty good sir.
Always a good day when you upload! 😊
I'm in for another Pseudiom ride!
Minecraft time.
1) every copy of minecraft is personalized
2) minecraft parodies should be added to the national archives
Love your channel. I don't even like minecraft but I watched the full video. Keep at it!
Great vid, love the background music choices throughout the vid
Just want to come in here to say beta 1.8.1 was peak minecraft.
Beta minecraft felt like being stuck on a deserted island, also because the world was generated as islands, separated by giant oceans.
What a great birthday gift!
Happy B-Day.
Happy birthday!
Technically, Minecraft has guns now. The Crossbow weapons.
I remember when every song had a minecraft version, keep up the good work.

What?
Minecraft still exists, your nostalgia is in the past. A person doesn't stop existing when they grow and change, Minecraft didn't either.
Didnt watch the vid lol
