I’m proud that my home park is on the upper echelon of theming and presentation. I may be a bit spoilt, because the Efteling’s high standards are normal to me.
You and I are in agreement on this friend. As someone who's very passionate about folklore mysticism and mythology , particularly faeries/Dionysus/Romani mysticism in particular who's been studying these subjects ever since I was 7 years old, and I'm freshly 40 years as of 10/24 I'm in LOVE with the nature/philosophy of this entire park. I've been begging my family to trade multiple trips to Disney World for a visit for close to two decades now. Have you by chance had the privilege to visit the park as of yet? I really hope so, because even though we've never met before I feel like you deserve to go there friend and have yourselves a beautiful time . Unfortunately the distance from Maryland and Delaware is the sole reason that I've never been able to talk my family into a visit . In my opinion Efteling>Disney World or Hell any of the Disney parks. The only one that could give Efteling a proper run for its money is Disney SEA and still based on the subject matter of both parks, I'm gonna give the win to Efteling. One other thing before I forget, has anyone who's been to Efteling ever checked out the Enchanted Forest Park in I believe it's in Oregon or one of the of the Pacific Northwest states) I'm not saying that it's on par with Efteling at all, but it has a very similar atmosphere/mood. Its a homemade park jam packed with details for those that love immersion in their parks. I could be wrong since I've not been to either, but if you check it out, I think you'll understand what I'm talking about
Hey brother I think that I've mentioned it already in a previous video of yours, that if you should ever be back here to the US then you should run on by to Ocean City Maryland. The end of z boardwalk has 2 different parks. Jolly Rogers isn't much, but Trimpers is a whole different thing. It's historic rides are full of charm and VVonder! The aptly named Haunted House is a dark ride (I'm pretty sure that in England that you would call it a Ghost Train) Anyways the Trimpers Haunted House was built in 1964 by none other than the greatest dark ride Legend himself Bill Tracy. And it's one of the very few surviving Bill Tracy attractions left in this world (out of the something like 70-80 rides that he created, but sadly only 6-7 are left now) Trimpers Haunted House contains the Bill Tracy stunts from 3 now defunct rides. It's an absolutely amazing ride and is almost definitely the longest haunted house dark ride in the US and perhaps the longest in z world at 6 minutes long (don't quote me on that longest in z world, as I've been wrong about some stuff sometimes) If you're aware of Bill Tracy's work already I apologize to thee friend,, but I've never been able to find out if there's been any Bill Tracy rides in other countries, so I thought I'd just be safe and mention it to give some context to those unfortunate enough to be uninitiated in the ways of good sir Mr, Billiam (HA!) Tracy. Anyways brother (and sister) I write this because I digg your videos and passion for parks, so I wanted to make sure that this ride doesn't go under your radar. This ride and I have a beautiful history as it was the very 1st Haunted House that I had ever been on, but that's not the only reason I brought it up, because it's truly the best traditional Haunted House dark ride in the world. It's straight up magic dear friends plain and simple. And over the last decade this ride has seen a whole lot of TLC, with plenty of updates that have blended seamlessly the old original stunts with more modern stunts as well as having one or two scare actors that they throw in there. Pure blacklight, induced psychedelic dayglow spooky mysterious masterpiece! I'm hoping that you'll get the opportunity to check it out for yourself sometime soon in the near future! And I forgot to mention that Trimpers also has a Bill Tracy walk through fun house called Pirates Cove Fun house (one of only 2 of his fun house in existence). I literally just remembered that you might have made a visit to Waldameers Park in Pennsylvania which contains the other Pirates Cove Fun house, as well as the Wacky Shack (a Bill Tracy dark ride that like Trimpers Haunted House is a psychedelic spooky masterpiece!) Sorry for how long this message is, but I hope you know that I'm only trying to help to introduce this ride to you two. Take care out there in this crazy ass world friends. Peace
It's different because it's a beta of a new attraction that isn't purchasable yet for other parks.. Offcourse they will "copy" it's a spinning wheel that has a room full of decoration, it's not that special other than the amazing execution of the Efteling
That wasn't a theme park ride - that was a work of art. My wife and I visited Efteling for the first time last year in April 2023. We came all the way from America just to experience this park, and it did not disappoint. My only regret was seeing the construction, but not getting to experience Danse Macabre yet. Guess we'll be going back.
The Efteling is a memory making experience. Generation after generation. I remember visiting the spookslot as a 7 year scared boy, holding the hand of my late dad. I'm almost 52 now 😊
Efteling is some kind of a foundation, so all earnings going straight back in the park for maintenance, exploration, expansion and not to shareholders who drain liquid assets and increase ticket pricing. You could say how family businesses were runned in the good old days. If you don't have the assets it is impossible to create nowadays.

I'd say together with Europapark. Both parks work together and both really doing their own thing and feature many prototypes and unique experiences. I mean, Im Dutch and Efteling is my home park but Voltron that opened this year in Europapark is just another absolute themepark gem.
@@ageoflove1980 The older dark rides of europapark are a bit less unique and more based on disney, although in the last decades europapark is massively creative aswell. Europapark has the adventage of being Mack's testground. Which gets them stuff like arthur, voltron etc.
I just love that accessibility concept - you can queue up with your group, have a synchronised but safe experience, and then exit with your group - that's such a brilliant way of including guests who can't be flung around in the main ride... Efteling really are setting the standard for all other parks.
Eftelings accessibility is aimed at those with physical disabilities, primarily wheelchair users. Definitely not great for other forms of disability as rides whos queues are wheelchair accessible like Danse Macabre, don’t offer any alternative entrances for those that find queuing difficult. Other rides whos main queue isn’t wheelchair accessible requiring queuing in an alternative line for the same duration as the main queue. Definitely not accessible to people that struggle in queues or can’t stand for long periods but don’t use a wheelchair. Disney Paris or Europa park set the standard for accessibility not Efteling.

Spookslot was actually the first attraction of its scale at Efteling. It had a huge impact on turning the park into a more full fledged theme park. Spookslot in 1978 and Python in 1981 probably were the largest contributors to shaping Efteling’s style of large (dark) rides and coasters.

Absolutely love what they did with this! Efteling does such a great job with each new or updated attraction. Definitely one of the best theme parks in the world
We came home from Efteling yesterday afternoon - so gutted we missed out on experiencing this ride by one day! It looks amazing! Gives us a good excuse to go back again soon!
I was sad to see spookslot go, but this seems to be a worthy replacement. So many hints to the old experience. The queue line reminds me of the monks walking through the bellows of spookslot. Simply amazing. Can’t wait to visit from the UK and bring back childhood memories. Thank you Efteling, you’ve done it again. PS the opera singer at the start reminded me of the Baron singers… ‘u bent gewaarschuwd’ you’ve been warned. Love it!!
Yeah I actually singed the petition together with thousands of others to keep the original. I mean, it was unique and just a piece of themepark heritage. But it in the end, the Efteling is not a museum and a new generation needs to be wowed like I once was. And the respect they show to the the attraction it replaced couldnt be more on point so I just have to agree with you here.
Watching this from Southern California…just a few miles from Disneyland. Disneyland would do well to have such a unique and quality attraction such as this!
I’m actually so sad about not being there today. We booked our visit for yesterday more than a year ago, before the announcement. I even remember 2022, when we were there only a couple days after spookslot closed. So much bad luck! We don’t go often because of the expensiveness, so maybe in a few years i’ll get to experience this too!
Danse Macabre is my favourite bit of music and has been since I heard it when I was about 7 or 8 at school! Then the tv show Jonathan Creek had is as the theme tune so loved it again xx
Great video! We witnessed the explosions whilst riding max and moritz….it was truly magical! What an amazing and immersive ride. Hoping to go on again tomorrow🙏🏻
Once again, great video Charlotte and Shawn recording this grande opening of a new (and already) iconic themed area and ride. When the Efteling announced to close Spookslot i was really unpleasant surprised and seeing it getting demolished it broke my Efteling heart. Hoped Kate Bush would have sung the opera part (as she can do it), she recorded a video there just after Spookslot opened. I think the circle would be closed when this would have happened... After 13 years she is recording music again! The Charlatans and the Efteling staff are playing good roles. They are part of the whole experience. Well done and thank you Efteling and (sub)contractors for making this possible. Looking forward for a new experience at Efteling!
The barrel organ, or street organ as some say, is called "Esmeralda" and has put up a show during the build period of this attraction. It will be placed in the section demarcated with a fence when you enter this themed area. At some point in the performance it will get cursed by the "unmentionable" and changes shape .. If you have time you should watch this show.
Hi Shawn and Charlotte 💀🎻 Of all the vlogs I've watched so far of this new attraction Dance Macabre as expected yours has been the most detailed and informative. It's a shame Charlotte couldn't do the actual ride with you as I know how much you both love all these experiences and doing them together but at least they had the alternative screen version so she could still experience the attraction. I look forward to your up and coming vlogs and I hope Charlotte's back issues are soon resolved so she can join you once again on all your future rides etc but at least she is able to be there with you experiencing the atmosphere. 🤓👍💀🎻
Wow what an amazing opening, probably one of the best I've ever seen. Loved the violin and the opera singer, dance macabre is a brilliant piece music. Beautiful theme, nice spooky video. Happy Halloween
Shawn and Charlotte your the greatest, working hard to let us be one of the first to experience this. Love from the Netherlands yours truly Ron 'VeKoMa" Emans.
Fun little easter eggs in that cabinet with the moving posters. That opera singer in one of them is Francis van Broekhuizen, a famous Dutch soprano. The sitar, the string instrument in the smashed cabinet is a throwback to a preshow scene from Spookslot, where you could hear this instrument during the Eastern Ghost peppers ghost effect in the queue.
Do know what you wish for .. all those US-based parks are shareholder based and run under a total different starlight. They will push out family owned busnisses out of competition and when they did they can up ticket pricing for a good old profit for the shareholders. Look what is happening in Florida. Currently € 436 for a 2-day Park hopper ticket ... smh
@@maltwhiskey1424 1. who said anything about us based operators? No idea why you would think the smaller family run parks would get pushed out of business! The UK isn't Florida!
Great video as always Shawn and Charlotte, the new dark ride from Intamin looks very impressive and I love that it’s a fully immersive themed experience
We have been to Efteling 3 times, the last time only in May but this has made me want to go straight back. I love Efteling and all its rides and unique theming. Great vlog, thank you very much.
That looks seriously AMAZING, even though it's not at all what I expected. I love Intamin's creativity. I can't wait for the day I can get over there and ride this! Thanks for the incredible coverage!
This attraction looks amazing. And the fact that it uses one pf my favorite pieces of music? I'll have to see if i can maybe convince my parents to book a trip... Amazing video as always!
The excellent capacity is really welcome for Efteling, they've badly needed something to take pressure off at peak times. The Droomfluct renovations too is 10/10; really cements Efteling as the GOAT. Fingers crossed we see a similar plussing-up of one of their coasters (Vogel Rok?) next.
Efteling is developing a special experience at Danse Macabre for visitors with disabilities, 31:55 but the experience is not yet complete. Ultimately, a special film will be shown there, with extra effects. The announced multi-sensory alternative is not yet in use. "The film that is to be shown is not yet finished." People with disabilities are already welcome in 't Gewelf, as the space is called.
Top notch theming and that merch looks great compared to what other new rides have offered up this year!! No pot plants in sight!! Can't believe they've gone to the trouble of offering a similar experience for people who aren't able to have the full experience. They've definitely gone all out on this and done a fantastic job.
That opening ceremony. My jaw dropped and the first time watching the video i teared up a bit. I love the danse macabre piece and it was fun to see all the nods to it in the early ceremony. Looks like it would have been a hell of a lot of fun to be at in person

@@tzzz6852 say, do you know the full story of this new ride? I am getting some snippets but I don't know where to look for the whole of it, if you don't mind sharing it with me.
A long time ago, on Friday the 13th in 1876, Conductor Joseph Charlatan and his orchestra performed the music: danse macabre during an international music concours in the Chapel. But after their magnificent performance they were all slaughtered by a monster called "the unnamable", wich still haunts the Chapel disguised as the little kitten. The spirits of Joseph and the orchestra were doomed to perform and when you ride "danse macabre", you get locked in the Chapel by acting efteling-workers (this is amazing), they wish you "good luck" and you get attacked by the unnamable. After that you watch another performance of Joseph Charlatan and his doomed orchestra, while you dance on the music. Also the ride is full of reused decoration/hints to the old spookslot show (the ride out of 1978, Yes the ""78 year in the story is a hint to the opening year of spookslot, replaced by danse macabre). I hope the story is clear for you now. Sincerely your Dutch Efteling fan/translator of the story
That was one of the best overall ride experiences I've ever seen! The ride itself is incredibly unique being the first of it's kind. But the themeing inside and out was just stunning! Efteling just a first class experience! Loved the accessibility option very accommodating. Bravo Efteling and Intamin on this masterpiece!
Excellent video Shawn and Charlotte from a ride and review Danse Macabre at Efteling in The Netherlands! keep the good videos coming on the channel, Charlotte and Shawn.😀😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
That ride system would be an amazing fit for Disney's Fantasia the Night on Bald Mountain piece at the end...with a massive Chernabog animatronic and the ghosts, demons and fire effects. A shame Disney is broke now...both monetarily and creatively.
Incredibly jealous. I liked how many touchstones they kept from Spookslot, like the dancing railings, too. That gift shop would be the death of me, though... or at least the death of my wallet. I'm half wondering if it'd be worth trying to ship a plushie and a bat globe to the US....

Fun fact: The bottom poster that moves (of the music concours) (39:06) is the designer of the attraction! He's also the butler in Symbolica and has done a lot of entertainment characters in the Efteliing over the years!
I have a feeling the motion stage model might be the next big thing to see in multiple parts similar to the influx of mad houses in Europe. This ride should be more varied than mad houses though

Thanks for sharing!
The chandelier in the gifts shop was actually hanging in the Spookslot. Another nudge to the past.
Watching this from Southern California…just a few miles from Disneyland. Disneyland would do well to have such a unique and quality attraction such as this!
It would indeed!
That ride looks insane thanks for getting the bideo out so quick!
Hopefully you’ll be able to visit again soon!
The first vlog in 60P, thanks! No brurrrrrrry images. Did the ride twice this morning... fantastic!
Danse Macabre is my favourite bit of music and has been since I heard it when I was about 7 or 8 at school! Then the tv show Jonathan Creek had is as the theme tune so loved it again xx
That show was sooo much fun.
Efteling is a mandatory annual visit just like Phantasialand for me and I am so happy the have put another topnotch attraction into their park 🤗
Have a great time!
Why you missing out Europa-Park?
@@mikekaraoke That's my home park. Fairly decent park, but does not have the same magic as Efteling or Phantasialand imo.
i was at the efteling yesterday with my parents and my friend of school (Yesterday i went on rollercoasters for the first time!)
Thanks for sharing!
Clicked this as soon as I saw! Can’t wait to watch it now! ❤
Enjoy!
I wonder if anyone’s managed to get video of it yet
Hi Shawn and Charlotte 💀🎻
Of all the vlogs I've watched so far of this new attraction Dance Macabre as expected yours has been the most detailed and informative. 🤓👍💀🎻
Thank you!

This rattling door is a new one. But there was a similar door in Spookslot. It’s yet another homage.
Love the pacing, the shots and commentary!
This was awesome, definitely something I will watch over again. Thank you for posting it.
They've done it again. Another beautifully themed ride.
Wow what an amazing opening, probably one of the best I've ever seen. Loved the violin and the opera singer, dance macabre is a brilliant piece music. Beautiful theme, nice spooky video. Happy Halloween
It’s beautiful
I didn’t get chance to watch the POV last night so i was looking on the channel now im here within 1 minute 😂
Enjoy!

I know from promotional material the conductor looked really awesome… But just look at how he syncs with the music… Delightful.
And congrats on the (almost) 400K.
Thank you!
Shawn and Charlotte your the greatest, working hard to let us be one of the first to experience this. Love from the Netherlands yours truly Ron 'VeKoMa" Emans.
Thank you!
21:15 love that you describe the "Efteling smell". It's such a typical smell in various parts of the park, really adds to the experience.
This is such an amazing ride.. Can't wait to experience it myself! Very well done
Its so beautiful. Even more so then I expected, going on the 27th. can't wait!
Amazing!
The UK needs a completely new theme park with this level of theming! Or the existing parks really need to up their game!
This ride is amazing, the level of detail is fantastic!
Well fingers crossed we get Universal Studios then
Do know what you wish for .. all those US-based parks are shareholder based and run under a total different starlight.
@@owenjohn1192 but Universal Studios is ..
Absolutely marvelous!!!! Can’t wait for the ride! Thanks
I'll finally get to ride this tomorrow, I told myself I wouldn't watch any spoilers but curiosity got the best of me when I saw this video, haha
Great video as always Shawn and Charlotte, the new dark ride from Intamin looks very impressive and I love that it’s a fully immersive themed experience
So cool! You're videos always put a smile on my face.
What a BEAUTIFUL experience danse macabre is.
We have been to Efteling 3 times, the last time only in May but this has made me want to go straight back. I love Efteling and all its rides and unique theming. Great vlog, thank you very much.
Thanks for watching!
So excited to watch this! Can’t wait to get the opportunity to ride as well!
19:33
That’s the voice of Theme Park Science!
I hope charlotte feels better soon! And so nice she got to experience it in her own way.
Thank you!
Top notch theming and that merch looks great compared to what other new rides have offered up this year!! No pot plants in sight!! Can't believe they've gone to the trouble of offering a similar experience for people who aren't able to have the full experience. They've definitely gone all out on this and done a fantastic job.
It’s beautiful
That opening ceremony. My jaw dropped and the first time watching the video i teared up a bit. I love the danse macabre piece and it was fun to see all the nods to it in the early ceremony.
Looks like it would have been a hell of a lot of fun to be at in person
It was wonderful!
What a perfect vlog to wake up to on Halloween morning
14:38 Famous dutch singer casually walking by with his wife :D
Who?
@ Rene Froger
Love a bit of Johnathan Creek!😆
Well I guess they used it too but its written in 1874 by the French composer Camille Saint-Saëns. It premiered 24 January 1875.
Managed to see the POV last night in bed (probably where you two still are after all thr editing lol) - what an outstanding piece of magical theaming and storytelling - I'd love to visit this park one day! And well done on getting the content out so fast - as a 'tuber myself, i know how much hard work went into that! :)
Yay nice to see Charlotte back!! And she able to go the ride to experience it with u . Ride looks amazing
This is incredible with the detail and the music.
Shaun and Charlotte you just produced the most beautiful introduction to Danse Macabre. Great images of the whole thing. Thank you.
Thank you!
Best thema park in the world ❤
Can’t wait to ride this next year!
It’s such an amazing ride!
You should know the cat is the evil demon in disguise😂
Love the video btw
What?....
@@TheWendigoKing1914thats the story behind it
@@tzzz6852 Well they just ruined the cat for me :(.
Efteling is it’s own thing. And it does it beautifully ❤️
It’s amazing
Wow, ceremony looked amazing
That was one of the best overall ride experiences I've ever seen! The ride itself is incredibly unique being the first of it's kind. But the themeing inside and out was just stunning! Efteling just a first class experience! Loved the accessibility option very accommodating. Bravo Efteling and Intamin on this masterpiece!
They have done such a great job!
Wow so amazing Charolotte and Shawn so beautiful attraction thank you to you both 😊
Super cool!! Thanks for this!! 🎉🎉❤❤
Thanks for watching!
That ride looks fantastic 😁. Get well soon Charlotte
Good morning from the UK - HAVE FUN GUYS !
Thank you!
I wonder if the storyline is understandable for people who do not speak Dutch. Nice video Shawn and Charlotte.
Excellent video Shawn and Charlotte from a ride and review Danse Macabre at Efteling in The Netherlands!
keep the good videos coming on the channel, Charlotte and Shawn.😀😃👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
What a fascinating theme park.
I saw you guys walking around on the 31st as well! Sadly was waiting in line for Danse Macabre so was not able to say hi! so Hi!
Hope you had fun!
Fun fact about Spookslot. Kate Bush actually recorded a Wuthering Heights performance there. Definitely worth a watch in my opinion :)
First of all shawn can I just say the enthusiasm you have for rides old or new is fab since I saw your first vlog on effterling I have wanted to go the ride looks amazing I am defo going to get the family to go looks a gorgeous place these theme parks abroad really put ours to shame thankyou my lovey glad charlotte got to experience it love the info etc you give on all the rides and parks love you guys thankyou thankyou thankyou xx
Thank you!
Wow that looks amazing, can’t wait to visit Efteling again soon, might do a Christmas visit 👌🏻
ride-it like-a-badBoi !!!!
Amazing ride
Fun fact: The bottom poster that moves (of the music concours) (39:06) is the designer of the attraction! He's also the butler in Symbolica and has done a lot of entertainment characters in the Efteliing over the years!
I have a feeling the motion stage model might be the next big thing to see in multiple parts similar to the influx of mad houses in Europe. This ride should be more varied than mad houses though
I hope so!
Wow they certainly know how to open a ride!! Hope to go one day, that park looks so individual, creative and magical. On another level. 🤩✨
Amazing!
Alton Towers? Disney? No, its just Efteling:))))
Such an incredible moment that this ride is finally open. I really enjoyed hearing what you thought of it. Can't wait to go on it!
It’s amazing!
A stunning launch event but will be pausing before the ride itself. Will be here in two weeks and want it to be a surprise!
Have fun!
Rode today and it was absolutely phenomenal!! Great video as always Shawn and Charlotte!
Wow that theming is amazing we 100% need one of them in the uk.
Can you imagine if Alton Towers installed something like Danse Macabre. It would break down every month.............
Every month with 6 weeks downtime
Went on it yesterday, and woah. Woah. Woah. WOAH. WOAH. WOAH! WOOOOOAAAAAHHHH!!!!!
The ride looks amazing glad you enjoyed it. Hope Charlotte gets better soon.
Huh she's pregnant surely
