    We have literally watched these boys grow up since they have been coming to the Cedar Cultural Center in Minneapolis for many years. For those who are unfamiliar Minneapolis and St.Paul is home to a large Swedish community. Since I married a Swede it was only natural to seek out things that would make her happy and reconnect to her roots. Boy did we find a connection through Vasen. Thanks Boys. See you back at the Cedar.

      Lawrence Gantner That's a great and very sweet story, Lawrence. Kind regards to you and your family, sincerely, from Sweden.

    Hearing these tunes live and how easy it is for them to sometimes slip out of those lovely irregular rhythmic grooves-not be quite in the pocket-makes me appreciate their masterful recordings even more.

    These chaps are something else - as the description says playful but with such depth and beauty - I really hope they will play in England someday , they never seem to . They sound like 6 people at times -off the scale musicianship and totally original .

      I know they've played in Glasgow a bunch of times so it's not impossible that they'd make it to England someday. Be on the look out, they're quite something live.

      Paul Huffman same question.. (by the way, he’s playing a 5-string - so it’s both violin and viola)

      It is the Logo of the Poler hiking gear company...

    • @andersgadejensen6945

      Poler, or probably more likely spelled polare, is (I belive) a Swedish colloquial for a drunkard. He's probably wearing it as a joke.

    • @lundqvistmachinsnickeri

      @@andersgadejensen6945 No its no joke, it does not mean polare, its a brand of hiking/camping gear poler.com...
      And Polare is another word for friend, not a drunkard.

      I heard them live in CA a few months ago and asked Roger about the tuning because I was stumped watching him. He said he plays alot tuned ADADAD. I never would have guessed that.

      the ADADAD tuning is tough if you don't have enormous hands like Roger :-)

    i wonder how it would sound with a cello instead of a viola

    • @Waldlaeufer70
      @Waldlaeufer70 6 років тому

      Quite differently, I guess. By the way, the instrument played here is a 5-string-violin, not a viola. In fact, it is a combination of both instruments. The tuning is C - G - D - A - E.

      @@Waldlaeufer70 Technically a 5 string viola. I looked it up and found this neat article:www.fiddle.com/Articles.page?Index=1&ArticleID=69522
