    Thanks, John!!! I’ve waited 20 years for you to come along and make a video showing me this kit in action. It’s super cool … but also super complicated. A better gimmick than an actual functioning feature. This is definitely one of the most elaborate of all Sea-Monkey kits alongside the Space Shuttle. You can really see George Atamian’s influence in this kit. I love imagining him and Harold having “business” meetings talking about creating this kit like two excited kids. That sums both of them up … big kids!!! Exceptional video. Thanks for the shout out and fulfilling my 20 year old dream of seeing this in action. - Tod

      Glad you enjoyed the video, Tod! It's definitely a little gimmicky, but I had a lot of fun testing it out. I imagine George & Harold loved seeing this idea come to fruition and actually work. Thanks again for your help with this one mate 🤙

    I remember my mom got me this kit years ago on sale at Marshall's and I loved it so much! Sadly being an 8 year old child I didn't appreciate the value of this kit and eventually donated it, and now at 30 and spending time searching the internet time to time I can't find it anywhere. Truly one of my regrets.

      @Weenie Hut Jr's The children grow up and have children of their own...? While individuals only live for 2 months, A well maintained tank using only official kit materials can survive 2 years, but they can survive for much longer with more specialised maintenance. I don't know where you got this idea that they all just starve and die.

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  2 роки тому +4

      Hey :) both of those are good options! Using a heater & airline in the mars tank could be a little tight for space though, so the magiquarium is the better option from that perspective 👌

    • @asroneightyseven3854
      @asroneightyseven3854 2 роки тому +5

      I would recommend using one of those mat heaters if you get the Mars tank (its my favorite tank). That's what I ended up going with and then using the USB heater for one of the flatter and wider Sea Monkey tanks.

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  2 роки тому +5

      @@asroneightyseven3854 yeah this is a very good point. In my experience the heat mats are only able to raise the tank temperature by a few degrees though, while the USB heater is much more effective at keeping the tank warm. If you live somewhere that gets quite cold I think the USB heater is the better option, while the heat mat is ideal for warmer climates

    I just tried some packs from at least 10+ years ago, might be over 20, I think they were from when I lived in my old house. The Copyright on them says 1979 soooo, anyways. I tried them, its been 2 days and I see at least 1 baby =) Hopefully it lives. If it does when it's big enough Ill add it to my half gallon aquarium colony =)

    Old video I know but I wonder if the food would float out of the basket more readily if it were dry when the food was added - maybe it wouldn't be stuck to the basket and the air bubble would lift it out?

    Forgive me for commenting so much, but I just got my new tank in today! (Ocean Zoo)
    I was wondering if it was alright if the tube of my air pump isn’t touching the bottom/bubbles not hitting the bottom.
    It stays about 2/3 of the way in but that’s the best I can get it as the tube keeps it’s curve.

    • @pico-cosmos
      @pico-cosmos  2 роки тому +2

      No need to apologise :) I’m more than happy to answer your questions.
      It doesn’t matter if the airline doesn’t touch the bottom - the most important thing is that the bubbles are slightly disturbing in the surface of the water, because that’s where the gas exchange / oxygenation happens :) ideally you would have the airline near the bottom as it helps with water circulation around the tank but it doesn’t really make a big difference 👍
