- Mark Agnesi returns to talk about the brand new Les Paul Classic from Gibsons new "Modern Collection."
The Gibson Les Paul Classic combines the early 60's style Les Paul model with some functional and time-tested modifications. As expected, the LP Classic is crafted with a mahogany back and maple top coupled with a slim taper mahogany neck and bound, rosewood fingerboard.
Burstbucker 61R & 61T zebra, open-coil pickups provide classic Gibson tones from the era with a bit of extra punch thanks to the open coils. The control assembly features 4 push-pull pots which provide choices of coil tapping, phase switching and pure bypassing for functional and versatile sonic variety.

I got this guitar a couple of months ago and it is still my idea of a perfect guitar. I dreamt of this guitar since I was in my early teens. Bravo and thank you Gibson!
I'm planning getting this, I like the price too
@@classicartfoundation639 I’m planning on buying this guitar too and it seems like all of the reviews I’m hearing with these pick ups, they sound crispier than what I have on my studio.
I have a 1990 Les Paul Classic, translucent amber. I believe that was the first year they made it. Beautiful guitar, sounds great and plays great!
I still can't believe I'm lucky enough to own one of these. Its an absolute treasure of mine
What color did you choose? Got mine in honey burst. Just a beautiful guitar with unbelievable tone.
@@Po1itica11yNcorrect i got the red one. im a huge fan of clapton and george harrison
Po1itica11yNcorrect got the Honeyburst last month. Hell, I love just waking up in the morning and looking at it!
@@ryann5247…. Don’t forget Pete Townsend!
I bought this guitar two weeks ago, everything is perfectly done👍
how? i tried two of them and action was terrible. i am scared that if i lower it, it will start buzzing. any advice?
@@bodzaks545 like a lot of things with guitars, it’s subjective to the player. Honestly I e found that les Paul’s actually seem to have a bit to low of an action for my taste depending on which one I play. But these classics sound really good and play well from the ones I’ve had the pleasure of using.
Just got mine gently used 17 hundred and change got all the case candy plus ordinal case . I can't wait for it to get here...
Have the Epiphone version of it and plays great! Am thinking of one day upgrading to the Gibson version but only downside is the tuning pegs, if I'm buying a Gibson I want the classic ivory looking ones.
Change them yourself then
They listened! We can see and hear him play now at the start :) good for you Gibson
So good they did it twice! Rock on!
And presented to us in the way that only mark can. Miss seeing you every Tuesday thru Saturday.
He should do each on in a guitar of the day format a song for each position
You don't get Tom without Jerry. Jen was a important piece in the succes of "guitar of the day" .
Glad you fixed the information.
Love your sales pitch Mark
I Just picked up a used '22 in the Heritage Cherry. Best guitar ive ever owned/ played. Highly recommend this one!!
I bet Les Paul never thought his guitar would be this big. I mean even people who dont play know what a les paul is
hmmm... not entirely true. I own many guitars, and my spouse does not know the two main historic brands, of which I have several.... lol!
No, who doesn’t play doesn’t know it
@@FunkyPhilMusic well in my expirence i’ve met a few people who knew what a les paul was but didnt know anything more than it’s name that didnt play anythjng at all
@@p6x2 Haha for many years my now second ex-wife could not tell the difference between my guitars and amps. Which made it all the easier to buy more guitars and amps. "This one? It's not new, I've had it for years you've seen it a bunch of times".
Awesome Guitar! It can do anything!
I love my 2020 Classic best guitar I own .
I play Strats, ES-335, L6, and L6-S deluxe all of which have the thin neck I am used to. Does the Classic have the thinnest neck of the Les Paul models?
My new favorite guitar..
Ill follow marks word ANY day any time. And this is my dream guitar
Thanks for fixing!
I bought this very Les Paul Classic in Cherry Red last month as it caught my eye when I saw Mark playing it. It is an absolute stunner and its sounds and tones are to die for. I didn't see any compromise in Gibson's workmanship or the aesthetics and no one is topping 'em either. With push & pull options I discover something new every time I play it. There are critics and then there are critics but the fact is no one makes guitars so good looking and so good sounding.
At the same time I also bought a SG 61 Standard with Vibrola and it is a class unto itself.
Thank you Mark for making this video.
Gibson has all my praise so I am planning to buy another Gibson very soon maybe a Les Paul Studio or ES 335.
Thank you Trogly for keeping them honest!
Just bought one
beautiful model this lespaul classic sounds really good
I would like to see the Modern version Les Paul offered with a flame top (Blueberry)as well as the solid finishes.
It’s a beauty. Sounds killer too.
Before anyone asks, they fixed the part in the video where he says the pots are hand wired. They're not
So Trogly had the right model in his review video. There's a pcb inside
Yeah I saw that, I emailed Gibson about it the other night, they must have heard us and Trogly's video is PROOF its the quick connect lol. I think it was just a mistake with the information sheet given to Mark, I am positive it was not mean to purposely deceive people.
Trogly is the man.
Good to know! Thx.
@@alabamahebrew agreed. He's wearing the same clothes in all the videos so he banged out a bunch of these in one day. He probably just made a slip due to that plus one series is called Vintage & one Modern while the guitar is named Classic so it's easy to see how he could've made a slip of the lip.
They fucking did it! They actually played the audio of Mark's playing, finally! Testify!
Dude !! You just can't give up on putting metal zippered jackets against nitro finishes can you ! ... but great to see you back in front of the camera Mark.
I bought this guitar new from a local dealer and it had nut issues . Absolutely would not stay in tune and the high E had a horrendous ringing if you tried to raise the stop bar at all. Luckily , I know the dealer well and he allowed me to return it for a Gretsch . Life is good now .
How does the Burstbucker humbucker pickup change into a P90 when you use the coil splitter feature? It’s a half of a Burstbucker. A P90 is completely different...
Taps, not split. Easy to muddle the two. It's where the wire is placed in the winding that determines it being either or
Sweet axe!great job Gibson.keep em strait mark!
I own this guitar. I love it, after i replaced ALL of the wiring because it went bad. and both pickups because they were extremely noisy over time
I love my '95 LP Classic Premium Plus 1960.
Great Marc Bolan sound!
Where are the Green Goblin inlays??? Did they at least keep them on the black ones? They looked great on the black ones. I guess I'm the only guy who loved the Goblin inlays.
Is this playing authentic? Pretty sure that E chord is trademarked by Slim Joe Bobby
0:01-0:42- “Get it on, Bang a gong, get it on.”
🤘 I’m looking to buy my first Gibson, either this one, or the 50’s standard goldtop. Any advice?
I'll take three please!!
The Vanna White style pointing is kinda weird Mark....
Tapping and splitting aren't interchangeable terms! The push pulls SPLIT the coils, not "tap."
“Solid mahogany neck? I’m interested!”
Seriously though, I love my Gibson. Other guitars may be “good enough”, the Les Paul never disappoints.
Sounds good bro! 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘

Just brought my prize jewel home today. The Gibson Classic Honeyburst Les Paul 1960 Edition. Came with a vintage leather case with hot pink fur and bra 🧡💝🧡💝🧡💝
Monumental day for this girl.
I like your playing, it comes from the heart, cool!
2:00 Surely Coil Tapping a Humbucker makes it sounds like a Single Coil Pick-up? Half a Humbucker is nothing like a P90!
I gotta say, I have a red LP classic just like in the video. BEAUTIFUL guitar, a little heavy but it feels like home. Have gigged with it a few times since buying it. IMO with the phase switching etc you just can’t do no wrong. Def want to change the Neck pick up. The 61-R is just too muddy for my taste. All in all, knocked it outta the part Gibson.
I'm getting mine tomorrow! Same color, but with covered nickel plated pickups (a demo model) for a STEAL of a price... SOOO excited.
Did you try adjusting the height of the pickup? Sometimes fixes the a muddy sound.
may i ask why the action on that is terrible out of the box. i ve tried two today, ebony and honeyburst. both had action way to high. guy from the store didnt bother to lower the action as much as possible and it was really bad. guitar looks beauiful and feels nicely. i am afraid if i get guitar and set low action that might buzz like epiphone. and unfortunately the only thing that i ve figured it out is that epiphone custom, which is three times cheaper is pretty much in range with this guitar. i was really disappointed learning that because i like gibson a lot, but now scared with that super high action that cames out of the box. any suggestions?
Wow, that's authentic. Did Fonz or Gibson invent that jacket? The Dean LP is a better deal though don't you think?
Mark rocks!
Hello, the first 2019 model released had a low frets instead medium jumbo found on the current 2019 production model , do you think it's better to looking for a current model?
You gotta demo each tone the pots give, Mark! Not asking you to replicate GOTD but just shred & strum to demo each sound this axe can produce. Thx, bro!
I bought one, they are heavy, didn't "feel" the weight relief. Also the ground wire was not attached.
Mark is an authentic guy !
Not lucky enough to afford the Gibson nut have the epiphone version on the way and I'm looking forward to getting my 'Greeny' on with the phase switching
I have a New Epiphone Les Paul classic heritage cherry burst it's lovely . I have this one in the vid on the way . I can't wait.
I'd love to try one except that the brand new one that arrived today had a chipped headstock so I had to return it. Same thing happened with a new Standard I bought two months ago.
Come on, Gibson. Don't let your products leave the factory like that--that's just shoddy and there's no excuse for it. These are $2,000+ guitars. After two incidents like this, I'm not even sure I'm willing to try again. I may just get an Ernie Ball or a Gretsch next time.
does the bypass switch also bypass the phasing and coil split?
Anyone know what song he is playing in the beginning?
left out the most important detail. what is the neck shape?
Nice intro 🥰😍🎸
I tested this beauty yesterday at bax music shop Apeldoorn in the Netherlands. Super nice! But to be honest the epiphone les paul was litterally not worse...
"And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall....."
Rich Acello why a day in the life?
"Now they know how many holes it takes to fill Albert's Les Paul" Fixed that for ya😁
will you be making these with gold tops??
Oh cool. Y'all got rid of the robot tuners and gave people things they actually asked for! Now, if y'all could quit trying to sue everyone, that'd be pretty cool.
Creo q no sabe donde están ubicados los 9 agujeros no??
I have been playing Fender strats all my life, it's time to get my hand on a Les Paul I guess 🤔
Do these have the huge, wide headstock of the last few years, or the newer (more vintage correct imo) headstock of the new Gibson Standards etc?
The vintage headstock, thank god
BADASS AXE
Can you guys do a Gibson Les Paul Jr giveaway.
Carlos Zamora why it’s not like you’ll win so who cares
@@JakobSeidl i really like to try to win it. It doesn't matter if i don't win it. One time they did a giveaway It was a Gibson Les Paul Standard and my cousin won it. But i want a Gibson Les Paul Jr.
@@carloszamora9551 Step away from the bong Carlos. Remember Dmoking Sope is not for everyone. DUDE out!
@@albertomartinez2479 They do giveaways right now are doing a Gibson Les Paul Standard. They will announce the winner in July 1st. But I really want a Les Paul Jr.
What's up with the first fret mark?
All eq's at noon? Just a little bit of reverb?
When you make lp classic without push pull pickups with orange drops.. I'll buy it!
Look for a used 2017. Mine had orange drops.
can't you just not use the push-pulls and use them as regular knobs..? the classic is cheaper than the standard lol
That’s what I was thinking you don’t have to use them 🤦♂️🤣
i respect mark agnesi a lot and he has a huge knowledge about guitars
but i wish he would play some lead parts
You can hear how a guitar sounds a lot better with lower gain and rhythm parts better than with any kind of lead.
@@srh361 i agree but playing lead is a important part of guitar playing
@@julianfehling6984 well it depends, I've been playing for over 30 years and I've always been drawn to the rhythm side of the guitar cause to me lead is boring and what I call the look at me show. I can play lead but I prefer a great rhythm that you can sing over so to me lead isn't as much a part of playing. Don't get me wrong I totally understand what you mean but not everyone is into lead playing.
Ray Helton try listening to David Gilmours solos. Pink Floyd stuff is good but so is David’s solo work.
@@judehastings2643 I've been listening to pink floyd for years so I don't need anyone telling me to listen to this or listen to that etc etc!
Very Un rock and roll. What would Kieth think? Nice suit
This buy in one video just boosted Harley Benton sales..
Love Gibsons, can't stand this guy ✌️
Once coil tapped, is it supposed to be a P90?
Yes, I thought it became a Single Coil and not a P90 as well
The Les Paul Classic & Modern ought to come with bigger Frets. Either 6100 or Jescar. Because that’s what people tend to mod on older guitars. Bigger fret wire.
Are these re-uploads?
Are these seconds?
now that's an exact replica of my old Electa Classic... (".)
I've almost completely stopped watching guitar of the day. Lemo can play, but plays so much of his own stuff that only a few people know. Like I can name his songs all week for a t-shirt. Then a Gibson video pops up with Mark Agnisi. So now I'm watching Gibson's channel.
Mangus Music agreed!
Same same !
You forgot to mention that there is a gold top version
I would like this guitar better if it had chrome covered pickups
So buy chrome pickup covers!
@@dionj.pierre I could do that but then I would have to solder the ground to the cover plus I like keeping guitars original
Jimi X you could also buy the same pickups w/covers! Easy swap.
I’m pretty sure you don’t have to modify your pots or push pulls
@@dionj.pierre the quick connect system is actually kinda cool when you get the hang of it.
I'm really thinking about buying one of these and swapping the pups for BKP Rebel Yells,or a 498T/490R set
Did he play "cigarettes and alcohol"?
Can anyone confirm if the split coil actually sounds like a P-90?
They don't... He makes that claim in every video they put out. They sound completely different.
@@ryansnyderstudio No problem...
Bonita guitarra
This guy could sell me air
Essas guitarras da @gibson são um sonho. Se quiserem me fazer uma doação dessa 😅
Nice edit Job Gibson, but at least now it's accurate lol. That is a gorgeous guitar folks.
When he talks it’s the equivalent of typing in all caps! WHY YOU YELLING BRO!? Just kidding. Love that guitar though.
Oh man this video is just like the porn movies. I always ask myself why on earth are they showing the dudes face closeup?
Jason Statham reviewing Les Pauls now... that's awesome... :)
I need a Transporter!!
Crazi Agnesi is nda' houz, babii!
I love this guy no homo
Agnesi rips, always have; back at Norm’s he would play the guitar, and bass mind you, like a bonafide professional
Everyone wants to hate on this guy but he was just the messenger for gibson. He was getting paid to be a jerk.
WHY IS HE YELLING??
Put chrome cover pickups and you got Eric Clapton and George Harrison Lucy Guitar
Replace the knobs as well. I’ve been dreaming of getting this in order to make Lucy
Did that exact thing. Put some chrome pickup covers on and changed the truss rod cover. Already equipped with grovers, so that was nice. Looks very close to Lucy!
Changed the knobs as well, forgot to add that.
He's stopped smiling
No Long neck tenon
I like Mark in Norms Guitars but it's not much fun anymore
Captain Nostromo agreed, he doesn’t even look happy in the videos.
He went corporate.
