My budget last month in the south of Thailand was $400. $70 for electricity to run the AC 20 hours a day, No rent, $12 for internet, 60 cents for my flip phone, $2 for water, $80 fuel for car. $10 for insurance. That's $175 without food. I eat out a lot and buy some foods for relatives. If I didn't eat restaurant food, it would be easy for me to live on $300 a month. I live on a paved road in rural Mai Seab/ Koh Khan. 1 mile to 7-11 and the freeway. 5 miles to KFC or hospital. 20 miles to Phattalung. My house is paid for.
Thanks for the video and info. Last year, I lived in the Jomtien area for 6 months and my monthly budget was $3K and that's with companionship with a regular Thai lady for 3x a week without buying any LDs and barfines. I did not eat any western food due to way more expensive and been eating Thai food in the market. In my early 50's now, I was planning to retire but I changed my mind in the very last second due to the fact that it's all westernized nowadays and the prices are doubled and tripled so I came back to work in CA. Better be off to Siem Riep, Penang or Manila next time.
Tony, I think that if you start offering audio book readings you will get even way more UA-cam followers (NOT knocking this channel at all). Give it some thought. I feel like listening to your voice while you read a book will offer a soothing and relaxing experience! Ask Kendall about it. Have to come up with a way to promote. And man, I wish I could come over to Thailand and meet you both and just hang!
Thank you for being one of the first vloggers to price in the local currency. Im from the UK living in Thailand and Vietnam and it drives me nuts that every American vlogger and an increasing number of UK vloggers price everything in US dollars. The world doesn't revolve around America, so i just dont get it. Price in the local currency and the world can convert into their own currency, SIMPLE!! 👍🥳🥳
You can save more on electricity by investing in DC air. it is a bit high to install, but will pay itself off in about two years and save you quite a bit of money afterwards.
Wonderful video! 🎊 😊 Nice calm videos you do. Perfect 👍🏻 Do you have any updated videos for reviews of medical & dental practices there? Would love to see those.
Thank you again for a great video. I am really contemplating going to Thailand to retire but would you suggest going to Thailand on a 1-year education visa to try it out and see if I would enjoy it and then switching to a retirement visa if I decide to stay? Also, you mentioned the motorbike insurance, if I did go there on an education visa and rented a bike for that period, would I still be able to buy insurance for that rented bike? Thanks again.
Every year when we renew our plan, we go into the AI office in the mall and we buy whatever the special is which is around the price I stated. It seems like it’s a better deal than getting anything on their app on your phone.
I have been trying to find info straight from an expat about how they access their money. Do you open a local bank and have money deposited in from outside the country? Do you just go to ATMs all the time? I think this is my biggest worry right now. Would love to see someone talk about that.
Open a bank account here in Thailand and transfer as needed, money from your bank in your home country to Thailand using the WISE app. For the cheapest fee, link your banking account with WISE.
Thanks for sharing this! super insightful! Curious which pest control company yall go with? And does deal with geckos? Also would love to hear more about how you guys found your car! 😄
Western food is the WORST thing for your health... If you can learn to love local fruits and vegetables you will be RICH in Health and RICH in the pocket book 💪
I had a very hard time eating healthy while we were there. High sugar and bad oils, and pesticides. Went food shopping to cook but also not a lot of healthy options there either. Going to have to figure something out when we retire there....

So Thai cost of living for expats is too high now, yes?

Thanks for the tip! 🙏🏻🇹🇭😊
A monthly - yearly summary would have been helpful.
I totally agree about " safety last" here. People do not follow the rules on the roads.
Great topic... Thank you ! 🙏
Thank you for giving prices in Thai Baht ,good video.thank you .

Thank you! Not yet, but soon.
Could we get a 5 day itinerary video for Chiang Mai? Visiting next month
Thank you for all the interesting informations. It feels like " vacation", beeing in Thailand :-). Greetings from Switzerland
Thank you
Another good video Tony. Does your VISA cost cover agents? Or is that what you pay to brave immigration yourself? Keep up the great work!
There’s a fee that you have to pay for visa services. A lot of people do not use any visa service at all.
Seems cheap for fuel must have a small car and use sparingly compared to the scooter use?
Always the best videos.
Thumbs up 👍 Tony
Thanks 👍
Very cheap! Costs are very impressive, affordable living if you come with savings.
3 yrs ago???..wow..I've been watching you from day 1.
🙏🙏🙏
Very useful information. Thank you!

Ed visa idea would be good! If you rent, the motorcycle should have insurance on it.
If I went on an ED visa, I would actually take the lessons. So they can't kick me out for not attending classes@@mattivirta
What AIS plan is that? I pay around 435 baht a month.

Tony, thank you for the video. Good information !
Glad it was helpful!
More on food than on rent....seems commonplace whether in Philippines, Thailand or Cambodia.
Tony, thanks for the very informative video 🙏🏻.

Just for fun, this about 1600-1700 USD per month.
including food, that's pretty awesome!
Seems like renting a house is way better than renting a condo.
Why please?

Eco pest. We wish it worked on lizards, but it does not.

Shucks... did you share the grand total? I think I missed it
Nah stuff that i would rather stay in ozz no way id live there but glad that you are happy and enjoying living there
Thank you!!!
thanks
Thank you. It drives me NUTS when American expats living in Thailand constantly talk about costs in dollars.
Gg I love Thailand 🇹🇭

Name all the same foods eaten by both Thais and the west? There are hundreds of mutually eaten foods. Can you name 20?
Thai food is good, but let’s not pretend that it’s not made with cheap old cooking oil and meat stored at unsafe temperatures.
@@Rider6122 Plus the amount of sugar they put into their food and especially drinks is nothing short of amazing.

If you really wanna move to Thailand, you'll look up the conversion
I would suggest using a currency converter and getting used to it if you plan on moving to Thailand.
