Asalamualikum bhai jaan good video, but as people often confuse Laxmi Building and Lakshmi Mansion, just wanted to add to your knowledge. This building was originally the head quarters of Lakshmi Insurance corporation. Lakshmi mansions is different it is located next to beadon road and is a triangle of 3 story apartment buildings, that is where manto and others resided sadly mantos residence was demolished few years back.
Lakshmi Mansion was at Mall Road . It was a large complex a portion of which was residential and the western portion was commercial . The residential portion was on the eastern side towards Beaden Road. On the western portion existed the office of Ruby Life and General Insurance Co. Ltd. It was a Birla concern and I had been working there till 1947. I was 20 years old then. Punjab Assembly building at Cheering Cross was a few minutes walk from there and office hours I happened to witness Master Tara Singh waving his Kirpan and making a speech which lead to riots in March 1947. I still own a photo taken on the roof top of Lakshmi Mansion in July 1947 with some of my office colleagues. My residence was in Wachhowali Bazar and had studied in Govt College. Keep cherishing the old memories of the days spent in Lahore.
I agree with Mr. Sameed Nakai and like to correct Mr. Saad Zahid, this is Lakshmi Building. Lakshmi Mansion was located on Mall Road Lahore. (between Bedon Road and Hall Road). It had two blocks, the front one was commercial, and the backside one was residential. If interested in more details please contact, I will let you know.

You are exactly right they don’t lived over there Mustansir Hussain Tarar wrote in his book about that his family also lived there and old TV artist khursheed shahid lived there those flats still exist there behind chaman ice cream

Bhai this is not Lakshmi Mansion. Lakshmi Mansion is on Hall Road and not the building you are showing in this video. The building you are showing is Lakshmi Building and both Lakshmi Bulding & Lakshmi Mansion were constructed by Lakshmi Insurance in 1930s, So please dont mislead the public. :Lakshmi Buliding was a commercial building and to correct you Manto's Family & Qudrat ullah Shahab never lived there. Manto's Family, Qudrat ullah Shahab, Shamsul Ullema Tajwar Najeeb Abadi's Family, Dr. Asar, Dr. Mehmood Ali Malik (Principal KE & Allama Iqbal Medical College), Mustansar Hussain Tarar, Khursheed Shahid , Salman Shahid etc were all residents of Lakshmi Mansion. I know it as I was born their and remained its resident for over 45 years.
Very bad upkeep of buildings Pakistan govt could hv done something to preserve its past unless it plans to erase. Remember histories never get erased or wiped out. You always find evidences and words to bring back those stories.
