I love this figure. They way it completely makes Magnus his own complete character rather than a Optimus copy. I didn't know if I really wanted it... but now I do.
I'm new to Transformers and I picked this guy up. It's shocking how bad the instructions are. The slight bend you need to put into the knees when going from robot to alt mode is conveyed so poorly in the instructions. Maybe if Hasbro paid a few more cents to print them in full colour it would have helped. Thankfully we have this great video instead.
It’s not just the color but the lack of words. They want to save money by using the same package in multiple countries but you end up with IKEA style instructions that are a lot harder to follow than they would be with a simple “bend on the double joint until it tabs into place” or whatever. Even a simple scan code that would take you to online directions in multiple languages would be nice but that’s what we’re doing by watching emgo videos lol. It just can’t be easy for random casual fans who pick up a toy they think looks cool every now and then but have no idea these videos exist
I'm pretty sad that this new SS86 Commander Magnus figure doesn't have the cab turning into a white Optimus Prime, but at least this is much better than the Siege and Kingdom Leader Magnus figures!
@@tarnsanders259 I haven’t seen many videos yet, and I don’t think I ever see them do a comparison of both modes. G1 is just hard to come by and I remember Emgo doing a review back in the day and I’m curious if he still had one. He usually mentions when he doesn’t have the G1 but idk.
chefatron's review this figure as well and he compared them. His was so yellowed that I thought he had a special limited edition Ultra Magnus. D G1, with d antenna, looks to be a tad taller. I'm only here as I always try to transform my figures without any help or instructions & looks like I missed 2 steps. Once those were done, everything pegged in nicely.
Did anyone else find tabing in the cabin extremely difficult? I know the sides are double jointed but i could barely get it to all lock in flush. So Frustrating. Definitely the hardest transformer to transform in my small collection so far
@@theunholinesswithin70Probably the original G1 figure. Sucks that basically every Ultra Magnus since either loses the white Optimus Prime core or is a mess of partsforming (not that the original was immune either)
One of the knees may be installed backwards. If it refuses to tab in to either the up or down position, you will need to unscrew the assembly, reverse the little knee piece that you'll find after opening it up, and then screw everything back together. I had this problem, and used a screwdriver kit from a computer repair set to do it. You'll need a really tiny screwdriver.

Some of them have terrible colour choices that completely conflict the eyes.
Some of them are hard to follow. I try them once and then head straight here. @Emgo316 is awesome.

I remember having a white version of Optimus that's transformed the same way Optimus does.

so how do you keep the stupid horns from popping off constantly? couldnt they have molded the head in one piece?.....oh upgrade kit idea!
you can always just glue them on. they never need to come off again anyway.
