Besides Kenny Burrell's great playing, thumbs up to the drummer able to maintain a samba feel through the whole tune. Very rare to hear a jazz drummer who understands how samba works (double bass drum kick, for instance) and having more than very basic shops on the subject.
@@michaelmorphites6733 Kenny ALREADY had " that groove thing " when he hit the Big Apple in 1956, you must have heard Kenny's Midnight Blue done in the early 60s , BOTH Kenny & Grant are great , but to say Kenny Burrell is Grant Green-esque ... SORRY ... I can't BUY that
Amazing
Love the slideshow. Spent many happy hours watching Kenny there in the 70's!
a master of chord and soloing in between

Good insite. I will listen for that now
I was at this performance..1978 or 79..
Big tape recorders in the vanguard kitchen.
life without Kenny just wouldn't be right.
The Master at work
I just love the man's attack on the strings. Anybody knows what pick he uses ?
Great
super
Nice
Very Grant Green-esque groove going on in this version
Kenny hit the big apple in 56 , Grant arrived in 59
Yes Don, but Green forged the funky soul-jazz vamp style in the late 60s and 70s probably influencing all guitarists..
